the fields are near AND I WON'T TRUST THE AIR WITH SECRETSi can't stop holding this treasure in my arms LET THEM SAY WHAT THEY PLEASE Valentine's Day was a significant holiday, even to the gods. He only knew a few of them who weren't excited for it, and some were going downright crazy over it. Jesse was somewhere in the middle. He didn't mind Valentine's Day, and he didn't go nuts. He did enjoy it, though, now that he had someone to share it with.
Jesse had been dating Danna for a few months now, although no one else knew it. They were very careful to keep it a secret, because with the important plan Danna had, the last thing she needed was to appear weak. Jesse understood that, perhaps far too well. He still wrestled with himself now and again about the weaknesses and illusions that came with being in love, though it had gotten much better for him than the way it was when he first realized his feelings for Danna. He understood more and more just how worth it she was, so it didn't bother him so much. At any rate, if Jesse would have had to have fallen for anyone, he was more than happy it was Danna. Even if they did have to keep everything on the down low, which Jesse did without complaint.
That did throw a slight hook into their Valentine's Day plans, however. The Muses were throwing a Valentine's Ball for everyone, a masquerade sort of deal on Eros's Island. It was the perfect place to host such an event, and Jesse was attending, as well as Danna. The only problem was that they couldn't go together... that would be far too obvious to anyone with eyes as to what was going on between them. They were planning to meet up at the ball and "just so happen" to hit it off and go home together, and Jesse really was fine with that. The only problem was that it was a little bit difficult to give Danna the present he had bought for her while pretending to be just another lay.
That was how Jesse found himself in Palm Springs with Danna, on a tiny vacation all their own. Of course, money was no object for the gods, so Jesse had spared no expenses in getting them the best room at the best resort. They had had a fantastic time over the past couple of days, and tonight was their last night here, so Jesse had been saving the present until now. He was taking Danna out to a fancy restaurant, and was already all dressed up and just waiting for her to put the finishing touches on her hair and makeup. He pushed his hand into his jacket pocket and fingered the smooth, shiny box, wondering again if he should wait until they got to the restaurant to give it to her, or if he should just do it now.
His thoughts were interrupted as Danna came to join him in the hallway of their suite, looking absolutely stunning, as usual. Jesse smiled and let his eyes wander over her body, from her perfectly done hair, to her chest, to her hips, to her long legs. She could take his breath away just by appearing in front of him.
"Gorgeous," he told her, his dark eyes meeting her own vividly emerald ones once more. He grinned, immediately making up his mind about the gift. Why wait? "Oh wait, before we go, here," he chuckled, pulling the shiny red box out of his pocket and handing it to her before kissing her gently on the cheek.
"I wasn't sure what to get you, but..." he trailed off, shrugging his shoulders. "Hopefully you'll like it anyway," he grinned.

L E T ' S M A K E A S C E N Elike the movie in our dreams - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Standing in front of the full length mirror, Danna smoothed her hands down the sides of her form fitting red dress. It was brand new, purchased during her last trip to Milan, Italy only a few weeks ago. Tonight seemed to be the perfect occasion for it…Sexy without being too revealing, and a beautiful shade of one of her favorite colors. The material was soft and thin and felt wonderful against her skin. Pursing her glossy red lips she turned to her side and examined herself before turning her head and glancing over her shoulder at herself. She felt amazing and she looked spectacular. Turning back straight she fiddled with her perfect golden curls a moment before winking flirtatiously at her reflection before turning and walking off to meet Jesse. She wasn’t sure what time it was, but she figured it was about time.
Her lips curled up easily into a smirk when she saw him, walking purposefully slow, swaying her hips gently from side to side. She stood relaxed for a moment as his dark eyes looked her over and she felt proud and confident. She loved the way he looked at her, the way all men looked at her…With desire, awe of her beauty, and all of those things. Danna smiled a bit more when he spoke a compliment and glanced up into her eyes. “Well what did you expect?” she asked teasingly, her voice low and quiet and flirty. Her own bright eyes took their turn glancing over him as well before glancing back up at him, raising her eyebrows. “Not bad yourself, Jesse.” But since when did either of them look bad? Danna wasn’t arrogant when it came to her looks for no reason, and she definitely enjoyed looking at him.
Her amused and flirty look fell away into confusion as he stopped her to give her something. She eyed the red box in his hands uncertainly, racking her brain trying to remember if they were exchanging gifts or something. Celebrating “monthly anniversaries” was so high school, and it definitely wasn’t near that date anyway. At least she didn’t think. It sure as hell wasn’t her birthday. Blinking, Danna hesitantly reached out to take it and flipped open the lid, glancing down at the necklace inside…A diamond D. She laughed and smiled and glanced up at him, still trying to think of why he had given this to her. Maybe it had been just to get her something, but it sounded like more than that. “It’s…Beautiful…” she said. She honestly did like it, but she was still confused. It took a moment, fingering the diamonds before it finally dawned on her.
Valentine’s Day. You would think that she, of all people, would be more than aware of the holiday. It was the biggest day of the year for her brother Eros, whose Roman counter part Cupid was a popular character in the whole thing. Between having Aphrodite (goddess of love) as a mother and the Erotes (gods of various aspects of love and sex) as brothers, you would think it would be a constant reminder, but she had completely forgotten about the whole thing. Unlike them, it was not much of a big deal to her. People had their anniversaries to celebrate their erlationships, though she wasn’t sure why anyone would want to celebrate something as silly and weakening and foolish as love and relationships on Valentine’s Day and anniversaries. It wasn’t much Danna’s style. It had never been much of Tony’s thing, either, so she had never really bothered herself with the useless holiday. And maybe she was wrong, but considering the box color and the fact that it was February…
“Aww…” she said teasingly, glancing up wickedly at him. “You know…You didn’t have to…I mean…” she said, trailing off. She didn’t want him to think she wasn’t grateful for the gift, but at the same time she felt odd taking a Valentine’s Day present. She swallowed and smiled, taking the necklace out and swept her hair aside to one shoulder while she put it on. Danna did like it, after all, and she wasn’t really sure what to say about the matter. “So. Where are you taking me?”

the fields are near AND I WON'T TRUST THE AIR WITH SECRETSi can't stop holding this treasure in my arms LET THEM SAY WHAT THEY PLEASE Oh, Jesse let his eyes wander all right, taking in every detail about Danna as she glided smoothly towards him. Her red dress was striking, hugging her body attractively as she moved, and showing off everything about her that there was to see. Her hair fell in perfect, golden curls about her face and neck, and her bright red lips matched the rest of her outfit perfectly. The necklace he was giving her would even match the bracelet she was wearing.
He chuckled at her response to his compliment. "What I expect has never compared to what you come up with," he replied, winking playfully at her and grinning when she complimented him herself. He always did his best to look good for Danna, and success was always sweet.
Jesse handed her the little red box, smiling and watching her green eyes flicker in confusion while she took it from him. It felt a bit odd to remember Valentine's Day when your girlfriend had forgotten. Most girls were all over that stuff, but Danna was certainly not most girls. It was one of her most attractive qualities, and it only made Jesse all the happier that he had gotten her something anyway. He watched expectantly as she opened the box... Jesse really hadn't known what to get her, but he had seen the necklace and it had just been perfect. He had hoped she would think so too, so relief flooded through him when she told him it was beautiful.
Jesse grinned as realization dawned on her and she glanced mischievously up at him, that look in her eyes making his knees weak. He chuckled softly while she continued, shaking his head while he put an arm around her waist. "Don't be silly," he teased, "every girl deserves diamonds on Valentine's Day... Well, maybe not every girl, but mine does," he chuckled, unable to resist pressing his lips to hers any longer. He'd probably be wearing her lipstick when he pulled away, but he didn't care. Kissing Danna was always like heaven.
She asked where they were going, and Jesse sighed, pretending to look disappointed for the moment. "Well, it's Palm Springs, so I would love to hit the beach, but obviously it's the wrong time of year for that," he sighed, rolling his dark eyes while he opened the door for her. "So I suppose you'll just have to settle for a fancy restaurant and your choice of a movie instead," he told her, ushering her out the door and hailing a cab. Jesse wouldn't have minded helping her out of that dress, but she had just gotten all ready for him and he supposed that could wait. Anyway, he wanted a chance to enjoy it a bit first.

L E T ' S M A K E A S C E N Elike the movie in our dreams - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - “Aww. Look who’s being all sweet and corny,” she cooed teasingly, reaching out to pinch his cheeks. Danna wasn’t entirely sure what to make of the whole thing, so covering it all up with jokes made her feel more comfortable. She fingered the new necklace around her neck. She really did like it, and she felt somewhat pleased that he had remembered and had cared enough to buy her something. Diamonds were a girl’s best friend and Danna did enjoy jewelry. That warm, fuzzy, soft feeling was one she had to do her best to ignore. She cleared her throat and focused instead on where they were going. “Ahhh…Dinner and a movie. Surprise, surprise,” she teased with a wink. It wasn’t like they did it all of the time, but it seemed the only date people went on in TV shows or movies or books. Dinner and a movie? It amused her. They were far from cliché or normal or what anyone would expect.
It didn’t take long to get to the restaurant, though not long later Danna had to wish traffic had been a tad bit worse. It started off as the perfect evening, didn’t it? Her boyfriend complimenting her looks and offering up Valentine’s Day jewelry and a fun car ride over listening to her favorite Pink Floyd CD. Walking up with Jesse, laughing about whatever they had been talking about. Everything was nice and wonderful as they talked to the hostess and were led to their table. Sitting down she was actually happy and excited for what time she had with Jesse, which seemed few and far between with all of her time training on Mount Olympus and all of his duties in the Underworld. They were on Earth, what felt like a safe haven, a place they could go without worry about hiding the small affection they showed. Maybe gods could see the happenings on Earth, but no one cared much for two of the youngest gods born to their kind, the first in many centuries.
The time the waiter walked away with drink orders, though, Danna could feel something…Something very familiar and very off. Her body tensed and her green eyes became sharp as they flickered around. She set the menu down carefully, eyes narrowed as she glanced around, head becoming clouded in mild irritation. The music was horrible and it was giving her a migraine. The couple beside her were beyond aggravating with all of their lovey dovey talk. They weren’t normal things to get irritated about, but it was just the sort of affect he had on people…And through her growing aggravation, she knew what it was that was wrong. “Fucking shit,” Danna hissed, already moving in her chair, preparing to duck under the table or charge towards the ladies’ room. There was only one explanation for her sudden feelings and it was not good. It was enough to make that mild irritation fade away into panic.
It was too late, though, as large, strong hands suddenly grasped her shoulders. “Well, well, well. What do we have here, Danica?”
Danna bit her lip and cringed, jaw clenching as she forced her muscles to relax under his touch. “I’m at a restaurant…Which I assume for everyone means I planned on eating something, Daddy,” Danna remarked coldly, glaring at the wall over Jesse’s shoulder.

the fields are near AND I WON'T TRUST THE AIR WITH SECRETSi can't stop holding this treasure in my arms LET THEM SAY WHAT THEY PLEASE The evening so far was almost surreal. The two of them talked and laughed all the way to the restaurant, just having a fun and relaxing time together. Jesse wasn't sure how Danna felt, but when they were together was the only time Jesse felt truly able to relax and let his guard down. Even from the beginning it had been that way between them, and Jesse had always loved it.
He didn't think much of taking her hand in his as they approached the restaurant and he informed the hostess of the reservation he had made. Perhaps he was feeling a bit on the romantic side tonight, or maybe it was Danna that brought it out in him. At any rate, they were going to have a very good time tonight, even if it was the infamous "dinner and a movie" date. Jesse didn't mind being normal every once in a while, but what he liked even better was the fact that he and Danna could probably make even something as cliche as that into something all their own.
Having reservations, the two of them didn't have to wait long to be seated. The waiter was nice and polite and took their drink orders, but when Jesse looked at Danna, he saw something both strange and familiar in her eyes. They had hardened into emeralds while she looked around the restaurant, abandoning her menu entirely. Jesse felt irritated as well. What the hell was going on? Did there always have to be something to ruin their time together, no matter what was going on? You'd think they could just have a nice vacation in Palm Springs, but no.
Danna swore under her breath and moved to leave her chair, at the same time a tall and intimidating figure came up behind her, pushing her back down. Jesse knew instantly who it was, and while Ares' presence explained his frustration, it also heightened it.
Jesse's mind worked overtime as Danna and Ares exchanged cold pleasantries, quickly formulating a story in his head. Jesse didn't mind being seen with Danna at all - he loved her and would have wanted everyone to know that they were together. Danna, however, needed it to be another way - she had big plans that involved her appearing as strong and confident as possible, so she didn't want anyone knowing about their relationship... especially not her father. What was worse was that Jesse knew Ares... he could only hope that a major god like Ares wouldn't know a little god like Jesse, but the possibility was definitely there.
It was the only time in history, probably, that a man would tell a girl's father that he was just looking to get laid, but it was the safest option that Jesse could come up with. He could say that he and Danna had met not too long ago, and had developed a purely sexual relationship... He and Danna had fooled plenty of people about their relationship before, so hopefully they could pull it off again. Besides, they were all gods here, and wasn't sex what the gods were all about?

L E T ' S M A K E A S C E N Elike the movie in our dreams - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Ares and Aphrodite were in Palm Springs for much the same reason Danna and Jesse were. They wanted to have a good time and enjoy one another without worrying about other people knowing about it all. Seeing his darling daughter, though, it was hard for Ares not to approach them. Abandoning Aphrodite and their waiter, Ares had walked over behind Danna, grinning down at her before glancing up at Jesse, his eyes hot and excited like fire, very much figuratively as it was literally. His eyes were black, dark sockets with flames burning up and dancing within them. He was excited…His little baby Danna on a date. Not only did this give him more to tease her about, but…Well, it did worry him. His warrior daughter falling in love all over again. How sickening. Ares glanced over the idiot who thought he was worthy of Ares’s daughter. “Who’s this?” Ares demanded.
Danna sighed heavily and closed her eyes, rubbing her temples as her cheeks heated up. This was not happening. Her dad was not here. Taking a deep breath, Danna sat up a bit more and glanced over her shoulder at him and in her peripheral vision spotted Aphrodite. Ah, so her mother was here, too. “Gods…Damn it…” she murmured, glancing up at Olympus. Why are you people doing this to me? she demanded in her head. Between her false alarm pregnancy and this, she was sure someone up in Olympus hated her. “This is Jesse. We’ve been fucking all weekend and I got hungry. Ta da. Same reason you and Mom are here,” she said as calmly and politely as possible. No reason to piss off the god of war or his mistress. Danna cleared her throat and pushed a strand of blond hair behind her ear. It was hard to stay calm when she was ranging everywhere between panic and being pissed off.
She had never wanted anyone to know about their relationship and this put everything at risk, especially when it was her father here. It was all a matter of pride, and if anyone would use this against her it was her father. It didn’t seem as if Ares was buying into it, though, as he laughed and leaned down, placing his head down beside her face, eyes trained on Jesse, studying him. “Oh I do what I need to to get laid. Your mom is the mother of love…She needs a bit of romancing sometimes. But you…? Oh you’re not that type of girl, baby. At least I didn’t think you were. It seems I thought wrong about you. Not only are you a cheating coward, but you’re in love. Ahh, you should be proud of our daughter, Aphrodite. Look at her! Having dinner with this little boy…How cute!” he said, grinning and kissing her cheek hard before standing up, looking around at everyone. Tonight was going to be more fun than he originally imagined.

Aphrodite as of late was rather bored, something that didn't fare well for anyone involved. Things around Mt Olympus had been great, they were always great..well aside from all the drama surrounding the while growing number of unclaimed Demigods. Though there were so gods who were still trying to play ighnorant. At times she was even among that small group, for the simple fact that she had nothing to worry about. She probably had the most demigod children of anyone...but she had claimed each and everyone of them. Maybe she didn't know them..but she wasn't ashamed to claim them as her own.
Of course in her boredom a plan had been made, if anyone knew how to make things interesting it was certainly Ares. They two were a match made in heaven apparently, so different it was just perfect. So far since their affairs had begun many many centuries ago, she had yet to meet anyone who had the sane effect on her as he. Of course as fun as he was, that didn't stop her from having many other lovers. She was the goddess of love and to be restrained to just one liver...no matter how grand the affair, it wouldn't be fair to her.
Ares was the reason why she had decided to return to Earth, it was where they normally spent their time together. With her husband and all his traps to try and embarrasse them, she just didn't like dealing with him and no one could blame her. Her marriage was the most ridiculous thing, and something that she would never take seriously, no matter what. At the restaurant she was quite pleased with how things were going. Not only was she enjoying her time with Ares himself, but she effortlessly captivating the attention of nearly everyone in the room.
Of course everyone else around her she paid no mind to, at least not until Ares suddenly got up and left her to across the room. She frowned, a look of displeasure crossing her features. Who could possibly more important than this. Some of the annoyance vanished when her gaze landed upon the table he had moved to. Quite the pleasant surprise actually, yes gods could come and go from earth...but to be in the very same restaurant? It was far too hard to believe but it was hard not to, considering now while her daughter was in clear view.
Aphrodite didn't have much of a choice and so she pushed her chair back and got to her feet. She could either stay there and wait, or go over there. She knew as well as anyone else that she didn't have the patience to wait. Plus she had to admit she was curious about her daughters date, being the goddess of love, it was her business. On her feet she all too easily smoothed out her skirt..the new fashion trends was one of the few things she loved about the mortal world right now. When she was pleased with herself, she moved across the room. Arriving at the table just in time for Ares to adress her. "Yes...how..cute." A faint smile on her lips as her eyes moved easily from Danna to the man across the table from her.

the fields are near AND I WON'T TRUST THE AIR WITH SECRETSi can't stop holding this treasure in my arms LET THEM SAY WHAT THEY PLEASE Jesse fought the urge to growl and completely lose his temper. Ares was infuriating, not only in aura but in personality, but he was one of the Twelve. Not only that, but he was the God of War. Making him angry was not a good idea. Jesse forced anger from his eyes before he looked up, meeting Ares' blazing stare. That glower said everything, and Jesse wished he would have had more time to prepare for dealing with this man. He would be polite, and he would stick to his story, but if it came down to it Jesse would fight for Danna without a second thought, even knowing what he was up against.
His gaze flickered expressionlessly to Danna, hiding the sympathy he felt for her while she murmured something under her breath, rubbing her temples firmly. The waiter returned and set their drinks down, looking a bit confused. Jesse met the man's eyes and shook his head slightly, and the waiter nodded and left them to... whatever this was.
It took everything within Jesse to sit there and take it while Ares made fun of them both, seeing right through Danna's story and calling Aphrodite over. Jesse's dark eyes flickered to the brunette who walked over to join them, instantly recognizing the goddess. So these were Danna's parents, Jesse thought, as Ares kissed Danna's cheek hard enough to hurt, exclaiming about how cute they were. What a charming couple.
"If you'll excuse the intrusion, sir," Jesse said as politely but as confidently as he could. "I believe you're mistaken. I learned your daughter's name not two days ago, and I merely wanted to... repay her for all the fun she's been," Jesse explained, winking cheekily at Danna. Hopefully it would work, and Ares would get angry at Jesse. Better than seeing through the ruse he and Danna were creating. Anything was better than that.
"She's quite something, your daughter," Jesse continued shamelessly, looking up at both Ares and Aphrodite before gesturing to the table. "Believe me when I say she deserves all this," Jesse grinned.
He could only hope they would take the bait.

L E T ' S M A K E A S C E N Elike the movie in our dreams - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Of course, he had to drag her mother over. The muscles of her clenched jaw twitched and she sucked in a deep breath, trying to remain somewhat calm. It was incredibly hard with Ares around, let alone what this meant. He seemed to know, but he was only trying to get to her, she reminded herself. There was no way they could really know. Danna swallowed hard and her eyes glittered with some hope and interest as Jesse began speaking, backing up her story. She smirked and winked right back at him before glancing back up at her parents. “Just working hard to make Mommy and Daddy proud,” she laughed, shrugging her shoulders easily. “I’m not really sure why it matters…But I would have thought you’d both know me better than that. Even if you hardly know me at all,” she murmured, picking up her class of red wine and took a long sip.
Ares chuckled and shook his head and glanced at Aphrodite. “Ahh, you can’t lie to Mommy and Daddy, baby girl,” he said, grabbing a chair from a nearby empty table and pulling it up, sitting in it backwards and facing the table, easily slapping his arms over the back of the chair, grinning at them both. “This is all about your pride, isn’t it? I don’t blame you,” he said, eyes flickering uncertainly towards Jesse. An insult, sure, but one that could easily be seen as not if no one was paying enough attention. He leaned back and cracked his knuckles, glancing from one to the other. “How long you gonna keep trying to cover up for her? Do you think she’s really worth it?” he asked Jesse, snorting. “She don’t care about no one but herself, and she’s going to drag you down because of it. Look at her…Too ashamed to even claim you as her…’man’,” he said, chuckling. “That’s got to ring some alarm bells, shouldn’t it, boy?”
Danna sighed heavily. Her father was right onto them, but he didn’t know any of it for sure. He couldn’t, and she kept that in mind. He was just really good at guessing, and honestly he had to be doing this to push her buttons. She just couldn’t let it work. Danna laughed quietly. “Whatever, Daddy. I’m not going to waste my time and ruin a perfectly entertaining night for the sake of arguing with you. Because you’ll never change your mind…Guess that’s where I get it from,” she said, rolling her eyes and shaking her head in amusement. “Don’t you two have something better to do than fuck with us? Like fucking or starting a war somewhere or something?” she teased, taking another sip of her wine. “Don’t worry, I’ll be back home early so we can continue training, if that’s what you’re worried about.”

That night she had quite a bit in mind that she was planning. Of course it would start with this dinner but then they'd head to the hotel room and if she had any say in the matter, they wouldn't be leaving in a while. The bed of course..oh and the shower or bathtub, that was always entertaning. Of course all sexual fantasies sadly cane to a halt when Ares found something else to occupy him and so it seemed they wouldn't be leaving here any time soon. Much to her disappointment. She wasn't getting quite as much pleasure in treading their daughter.
She rose anthems questioningly at the man as he spoke. Danna deserved all this...? A dinner at a restaurant, that's it? Something more romantic and grand a greature, that's what she assumed her daughter would deserve. She was her daughter after all. "Quite a lot of effort for someone you just met." She said simply, though her tone showed no sign of integer. As if she were pointing out a simple fact that she just so happened to notice. She wasn't going to get all worked up because she really didn't care all that much.
She smiled faintly, though it wasn't quite real and she simply nodded her head to agree with Ares statment. Danna couldn't lie to them...she was just a baby..and honestly not being able to fool them shouldn't have been a surprise. "She shouldn't be able to fool us Ares, I think we should be ashamed ourselves if she could." She teased with a playful wink in his direction. A quite sigh escaped her lips a few moments later. It was hard to hide her displeasure as her 'date' for the night decided to take a seat.
It was fun for a little while, but she was already over this little game, she simply didn't care enough about her daughter or his little toy. They weren't that important, on some level she did care about her children but there were simply to many for her to put too much of her attention and feelings into just one. Her bright eyes moved around the table and with reluctance she turned to get herself a chair. She took a seat though due to her outfit, she couldn't quite sit as Ares was. Not only because it wasn't lady like, but because she's be flashing everyone a view of her panties in the process.
She took a seat, crossing her legs and all too aware of the way her skirt rose dangerouly high up her thighs. She brushed a loose strand of dark hair from out of her face before she folded her arms firmly across her chest. There really wasn't much else for her to do or say. She simply listened as they went back and forth, daughter and Father. She did however smirk at the last comment Danna made...how they had better things do to. the fields are near AND I WON'T TRUST THE AIR WITH SECRETSi can't stop holding this treasure in my arms LET THEM SAY WHAT THEY PLEASE Jesse was irritated, for certain, but that was what Ares did to people. And in this situation, Jesse could not afford to have his judgments impaired by emotions that were being imposed upon him by the god's mere presence. It was difficult, especially with Ares and Aphrodite going after them both, but Jesse had to shove it away. He could be angry all he wanted later on, but not right now.
He saw the hopeful sparkle in Danna's bright green eyes as he spoke, and although it infused him with fresh confidence, no one would have noticed. He let Danna rebut her father's accusations, and she stuck to the story just as firmly as Jesse did. Ares, however, refused to buy it, but Jesse was determined that there would be no other option.
He listened while Ares spoke to him, chuckling easily and leaning back comfortably in his chair, his arms hanging loosely and freely at his sides, rather than crossed defensively over his chest as was his instinct. "I'm sure you're right, sir, as I'm sure you know your own daughter far better than I do." A laughable thought, going from Danna's apparent relationship with her parents, but Jesse pressed onward. "And with all due respect, I wouldn't give half a shit about alarm bells or covering for her, even if there was something to cover. Though I certainly do thank you for your concern, but she and I are on the same page... the moment things get bad between us, I am out of here," Jesse affirmed, confident that Danna and only Danna knew he was lying. He loved her far too much to really be like that with her, but ironically that was exactly the reason that they could pull this off. The connection between them was far too strong to be off-put or doubted all because of a little necessary acting.
Jesse grinned at Aphrodite as she made her own comments, taking a ladylike seat next to Ares, and he let his eyes trail upwards along her thigh, keeping in character with the player he was pretending to be. "Oh, I don't argue that it's a lot of effort," Jesse replied, nodding to the spread of he and Danna's table, "but your daughter's put in quite a lot of effort herself." He winked at Danna knowingly, then let his gaze move back to Aphrodite while he looked her over once more. "Gets it from her mother, no doubt," he murmured. He was growing more and more confident by the moment that he and Danna were more than capable of pulling this off. They would be just fine.

L E T ' S M A K E A S C E N Elike the movie in our dreams - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Everything was going perfectly. Ares and Aphrodite didn’t seem to believe them, but as long as they kept it up, perhaps others might. She was the goddess of manipulation, after all, and she could make most people believe what she wanted…Not everyone, and certainly not her parents, but others, for sure. And as long as she didn’t give in and kept by her story, she’d at least feel better and more confident. She sat tall, though it did worry Danna a bit at just how right they seemed to be. Danna didn’t let any of her concerns show, and she wasn’t offended at all by what Jesse had to say, because she understood. All they had to do was be as boring as possible and stop arguing the matter soon enough. Ares was bound to get bored; her poor mother already looked uninterested. She had no idea why Ares cared so much. He could just bring it up in training or something and irritate the mess out of her then. There was no need to ruin a perfectly good night now.
Of course, Jesse looking at her mother was enough to arouse more irritation. Ares just chuckled and Danna did her best to not be annoyed. She was more than confident that Jesse had no interest in her mother, but still. Under the table she maneuvered her leg carefully, swiftly kicking him hard in the leg and doing her best to not alert Ares or Aphrodite to the motion and pulled her leg back to cross over her other one, as if that had been the intention of the movement the whole time. Danna rolled her eyes and smiled, just shaking her head. “Compliments get you no where, Jess. She’s with my Daddy tonight…It’s not often they can find themselves away from…A certain someone,” she said, polite enough to not say Hephaestus’s name and alert him to the little meeting, something she could very well do and could very well encourage yet another one of Hephaestus’s exploits of her parents. “Which you should be making the most of,” she said teasingly to her father.
“True,” Ares said, glancing up and winking at Aphrodite. He was reluctant to leave and was half tempted to challenge Jesmar right here and right now to a fight. The Mist would keep the mortals from seeing more than they needed to. Casual flings were fine, but the idea of someone that could actually be something. That was what got Ares’s attention. This little freak wasn’t good enough for Danica and Danica needed to focus more on her training and less on love. Love and relationships got you nowhere in life, no where but hurt and too caught up to see things clearly and he wanted better for his daughter. Expected more from her, honestly. “Guess I’ll see you in training bright and early,” he said, hopping up and sliding the chair back to the table. He nodded at Aphrodite, motioning for her to return to their table. “I’ll leave you two to your date. Use protection. No go on with all of your sappy shit.” He chuckled and waved and walked back to his table, fully prepared to keep an eye on the two of them. He’d have to make sure Danica stayed busy from now on.
Danna sighed as her parents left and she shook her head, rolling her eyes. “We order something miniscule and we eat fast and we are getting the hell out of here,” she hissed, downing the rest of her wine. “This was bad enough,” she murmured, referring to being caught. “Least of all do I want to deal with either of them.”

the fields are near AND I WON'T TRUST THE AIR WITH SECRETSi can't stop holding this treasure in my arms LET THEM SAY WHAT THEY PLEASE Ares was just stubborn, something that Jesse was fully prepared for. Oh, he knew that he'd never hear the end of this, but if he and Danna stuck to their story, at least Ares would have less to back up his claims. He felt a sharp pain in his leg when Danna kicked him, taking that as his cue to quit hitting on Aphrodite. Thank the gods. At any rate, it wasn't like Aprhodite needed an ego boost. Just looking at her sitting there told Jesse that. In fact, Jesse was beginning to wonder exactly where Danna got her good looks from, and she certainly didn't sit there like her mother did. He'd take Danna over Aphrodite any day.
Jesse shrugged when Danna told him that he had no chance with her mother, easily giving up and taking a swig of his wine. After that, it took just a few choice words from Danna to send her parents on their way. For being "babies," Jesse and Danna hadn't done too bad with his first encounter with her folks. Not bad at all.
The two older gods returned to their table, and Jesse pretended not to notice Ares sending him glances every few minutes. Danna already had plans for getting out of here and away from them, and Jesse remained relaxed and reclined in his chair. They were still being watched, after all.
"We'll just get an appetizer or something," he said, thankful that Ares and Aphrodite at least couldn't hear what they were saying over the noise from everyone else in the restaurant. "We can go down to the Underworld. They won't be able to see us from there, even from Mount Olympus. We'll be safe there," Jesse said. They would, at least from Ares and Aphrodite. There was no telling what Jesse's parents might think, but honestly he didn't run into them all that often. They were usually together in his father's palace, so Jesse wasn't worried. The two of them could finish out the evening in Asphodel or even Tartarus if worst came to worst. His mother's garden wouldn't be so bad a place, so long as she wasn't there... A bit ironic and mushy considering that that was where they had first revealed their feelings for one another, and now they may very well spend their Valentine's celebrations there. Jesse shook his head. They would figure something out.
He spotted their waiter out of the corner of his eye, waving him over with an easy smile. "We're ready to order... kind of in a hurry," he told the man, who nodded with understanding and readied his pen. The sooner they ordered, the sooner they could get the hell out of here.
