WHAT DO I DO WITH A BOY LIKE YOU?!?!GOT ME LOST! GOT ME HOOKED!NOW I'M SO CONFUSED!- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Vanessa Ferlito was giving Kurt Russel a lap dance to “Down in Mexico” by the Coasters, and all Gabe could focus on was anything but the movie, even if it was one of her five favorite movies of all time. The only thing related to the movie crossing her mind was how awesome it would be if Todd and herself could trade places with the characters. Gabe wouldn’t mind reenacting that particular scene. A lot of things with Todd were tempting right now, especially when they were laying on the floor of his apartment in front of his TV, surrounded by pillows and blankets and popcorn. They were laying right beside each other, under the same blanket and everything! And she was wearing a dress! Since when did she wear a dress?! She had worn a gown for the Valentine’s Day Ball and normally dressed up for school dances and such. But wearing a dress for the heck of it was not normal for her. In fact, she had bought this thing just yesterday, with too much thoughts for it in mind.
The plan was to come over to Todd’s house and act normal. Her feelings for him were all wrong and she felt so bad about how she had been acting all week. She had been awkward and avoiding him as much as possible and hadn’t texted or seen him much at all Friday or Saturday, which was why Saturday night she had suggested the two of them watch a movie together. Death Proof, a Quentin Tarantino movie that had captured Gabe’s heart. She figured it was the perfect solution, a great way to make it up to Todd and to force herself into making things right. She couldn’t just avoid him--he was her best friend. No, Gabe had to dedicate herself into making their friendship right again, not doing everything in her power to make things worse. That was all avoiding him was doing: making things worse. Of course, after suggesting that she had gone out and bought this stupid dress. She hadn’t been entirely sure why until she got home and began daydreaming about all sorts of uses that dresses could have.
Her cheeks flamed up at the idea of all of those fantasies. Fantasies that were easily replaying in her head right about now. Clearing her throat, Gabe blinked rapidly and tried to force her attention back on the screen. Poor stupid Rose McGowan was getting into the car with Kurt Russel. Soon she’d be dead, as would the car carrying the other four characters that had been introduced in the beginning. Gabe had been looking forward to seeing that girl’s leg fly off and flop on the road like a fish. It was one of her favorite parts and she could hardly focus on the movie for two seconds to notice it. Gabe swallowed hard and rested her hands just below her breasts, grasping the material of her dress in her hands and twisting lightly, trying to get a hold of herself. Never in her life had she found it so hard not to touch someone and not to look at them. Just as she thought that, her dark eyes flickered over to him and just as quickly glanced back at the television screen.
Gabe bit her lip hard and took in a deep breath. Why did things have to be so hard? Picking up a stray popcorn from the blanket she popped it into her mouth, hoping for some distraction, but the movie wasn’t cutting it and neither was chewing on half stale popcorn. Gabe shifted a bit under the blankets, feeling so frustrated with herself and so desperate for something. For him, actually. Even watching Jungle Julia’s leg fly out of the car window wasn’t enough to put a damper on her need for him. They were just laying there, not even touching, and she felt like she was going crazy already. Gabe licked her lips and wished she had something clever and amusing to say, some amazing and epic comment about the movie that would send them into fits of laughter, like they always did. But her brain was dead and incapable of producing anything but very pornographic images of Todd and herself. Gabe squeezed her eyes shut and shook her head lightly, wishing the images would go away.
They were just making everything worse.

one last hope to rise and break away ABOVE THE FADED LINE way beyond the ties that bind Todd hadn't thought it possible before, but when Gabe had called him earlier that day and suggested that they watch Death Proof together that night, Todd's heart had leaped and quickly sunk.
Gabe had been his best friend for as long as Todd could remember, but recently all of that had changed. Well, that wasn't entirely true. She was still certainly his best friend, but recently Todd realized that he also thought of her as more than that. At first it had just been an attraction; noticing what she was wearing and thinking that she looked pretty with her hair behind her ears, silly things like that that made him laugh at himself and shove the thoughts away. They were weird, and they had frightened him. The first time he had thought about kissing her was on the day she had changed in front of him in the hallway, and that thought had terrified him as well. But things had changed since then, and now what was scaring him was the thought of not being able to do those things.
On Valentine's Day, Todd had attended the ball with Gabe and Liz and a few of their other friends as planned. He had danced with Gabe, and she had kissed him... not really, just sort of as a joke, at the end. But it had still got him going. And when he was dared to kiss her at his after party later that night, there was no stopping them. They had made out in the kitchen before need became too much, and they were forced to retreat to Todd's guest bedroom, where they had lost their virginity to one another. Todd had been glad it was Gabe... out of everyone, he trusted her the most. It had felt safe and okay with her. But now it was obvious that things were different... She had been avoiding him all week just as much as he had been avoiding her. They didn't joke like normal or tease one another or anything. And even though Todd himself was avoiding Gabe, it still hurt that she was doing the same thing back to him. At least Todd knew why he was doing what he was doing... despite his best efforts he had developed feelings for Gabe, and being around her without being able to do anything about them was torture. He highly doubted that was herreason. She probably felt weird around him because she had given her virginity to her best friend. Who wouldn't?
Todd blinked as Julia's leg was sent sailing out of the window of the car. How did that happen? He had seen this movie before, but he couldn't remember watching hardly any of it tonight before this point. Gabe had shown up in a dress, strange for her but something that Todd still appreciated very much. He himself had worn one of his nicer shirts, and a pair of jeans without any holes in them, and even a belt. He tried to make himself believe that she wouldn't notice that he wanted to look nice for her, but he found he didn't care the moment he saw her. She looked stunning, and now lying here on the floor with her was driving him crazy. They had made a nice little nest of blankets and pillows to watch the movie on, and had popped way too much popcorn. Even Todd, who would normally have been shoving handfuls of the stuff into his mouth, had hardly eaten any of it. He was too busy thinking about Gabe, and how if he took a deep breath he could smell her scent, the warmth of her body beside him, and just the knowledge that she was so close.
Todd turned his head to look at her, surprised to find a pair of dark eyes looking back at him. He swallowed hard beneath her gaze, feeling his heart speed up immediately. Todd propped himself up on one elbow, still staring into Gabe's eyes.
It was hard to tell who moved first, but suddenly Todd's lips were on hers and he was shifting his body over her, and all of that desperation and frustration was finally being released.

WHAT DO I DO WITH A BOY LIKE YOU?!?!GOT ME LOST! GOT ME HOOKED!NOW I'M SO CONFUSED!- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The so called Death Proof car slammed right into the car of the girls, successfully killing each one of the four with each hit. There was a severed leg and someone being scalped and it was just awesome. Kurt Russel as Stuntman Mike was amazing, and it was a movie she could watch all the time and still love it just the same. But tonight, Stuntman Mike held none of her attention. As it switched to the hospital scene, Gabe had to wonder when that had happened. Each time she glanced at the screen she was confused. The movie seemed to be moving way too fast and even having just glanced at the screen multiple times, she was beginning to forget where they were and what all had happened, strange for the girl who could tell you on a normal day what happened in every scene and could recite almost the entire script. Tonight, though, she had trouble remembering the name Stuntman Mike or the name of Rosario Dawson’s character or Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s character. She was solely focused on Todd.
Gabe was very much aware of him, more aware of him than she had ever been of anyone. Her heart was thudding hard in her chest in a steady, yet forceful pattern. She could hear and feel her heartbeat in her head and she felt her limbs trembling lightly every time she shifted them. Everything felt hot, and even if they were under the blankets she doubted kicking them off would do her much good. She could feel every inch of her skin begging him to touch her, almost in pain from the lack of what she so needed from him. Every muscle in her body begged her to do something, to reach out and grab him and at least snuggle up to him, though she knew that would be too dangerous to dare try. Gabe had to be smart with this. The entire point was to test her endurance and do everything she could to strengthen herself and to make things better. The more she was around him the easier it would be, the first few times were just going to be hell.
Licking her lips, Gabe hesitantly turned her head to glance at him, wanting to say something, but finding she had nothing to say at all…And any hope of forming some sort of statement was lost the moment his sea blue eyes met hers. Gabe licked her lips and just stared at him, feeling her heart speed up, racing steadily as her mind became blank. Anything that would tell her to stop and reminding her of her plan were gone. All she felt was that powerful need to be with him ten times stronger. She swallowed hard, breathing a bit heavier as he propped himself up on his elbow, still staring down at her. The moment his face leaned down into hers, she moved up the most she could to meet him. Their lips met in a desperate and wild passion as Todd’s body moved over hers and she laid back against her pillows, spreading her legs to allow him space to settle between them and reached up to dig her fingers into his hair, pressing her body up against him as she kissed him deeply. Gabe wanted Todd, and right now that was the only thing she knew at all.

one last hope to rise and break away ABOVE THE FADED LINE way beyond the ties that bind Todd hadn't planned anything, and in fact couldn't even remember how he had gotten here, propped over Gabe and pressing their bodies together, settling his hips between her legs as she spread them. That probably could have been because Todd didn't know anything at all at the moment, other than that he was finally touching and kissing Gabe the way he had wanted to all night. He groaned quietly into her mouth when her fingers tangled in his hair, lowering himself further and propping himself up with his elbows instead of his hands to lie comfortably on top of her.
It felt like he had been waiting all week for this moment, and honestly that wasn't far from the truth. Todd had found himself wanting this every minute of every day, always thinking about Gabe when she wasn't around, and nearly overcome by the overwhelming desire to touch her when she was. Any hand holding or arm linking or anything always made his heart jump and skip, and he would swallow nervously and glance a peek at Gabe to see if she had heard it, even though he knew that was ridiculous. In classes where he wasn't with Gabe, Todd sat quietly and looked out the window, very strange behavior for him that went neither unnoticed or unappreciated by the teachers. He just stared, his mind millions of miles away while he thought up a thousand different scenarios for getting himself and Gabe together. He thought out every word he would say, every touch, and the way Gabe would smile slowly as she realized what he was doing and simply fall into his arms. It was all very cheesy and unrealistic, but Todd couldn't help dreaming, especially if he was never going to have that at all. He had barely gotten into any trouble at all this week.
None of that mattered right now, though. All that mattered was the way Gabe's lips felt and tasted against his, so beautifully familiar and necessary. She held his hips with her spread legs and tangled her fingers deep into his sandy hair, while Todd slid a hand down her chest, palming soft, round flesh before his hand continued down her side. Todd pulled his lips from Gabe's in need of air, already panting as he pressed fevered kisses down her neck, nuzzling and licking her skin.
"I need you," he whispered desperately against her skin, while his hands slid up her legs and bunched her skirt around her waist.

WHAT DO I DO WITH A BOY LIKE YOU?!?!GOT ME LOST! GOT ME HOOKED!NOW I'M SO CONFUSED!- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - It had been wonderful. Rushed and passionate, not even bothering to remove all of their clothes, only what was essential to the process. Gabe couldn’t remember if the first time had been so good, but she was too busy soaking in the wonderful feelings of her afterglow to care about which had been better. Gabe licked her lips and finally allowed her body to relax, though she kept her arms around him and her legs trailed down his, though they remained around him, as well. Gabe was perfectly content lying beneath him, breathing heavily as she tried to calm down her racing heart. For a few moments, everything was wonderful and peaceful and when Todd teased her about “So much for ‘never again’,” she just laughed and nodded her head in agreement, wondering vaguely why she had even said such a thing in the first place.
Then it clicked. Yes, she had denied being his little lover for very good reason. What had happened during their fun should have clued her in to that. Even during sex her feelings made themselves very well known. Being around Todd meant more than just the way her body reacted to him, the way she was physically attracted to him and aroused by him. It was the way her heart felt around him and how much she wanted him in a way she couldn’t even explain. She wanted more than sex and friendship…She wanted him. It was something she had tried hard for a while to ignore and deny and had ultimately failed. And now she would spend even more time trying to force those feelings away and it was all Gabe could do to hope and pray it would work. Gabe wasn’t sure how she could stand remaining his friend and always feeling this way about him, knowing that his feelings for her would never, ever change.
“I guess this was just inevitable,” she murmured with a shaky laugh, glancing at the TV screen as the four women arrived to some guy’s house to test drive his white 1970 Dodge Charger, using Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s character as a bargaining tool for test driving it alone. They had missed a good bit, but Gabe didn’t care. She had seen this movie enough times and could very well re-watch it at home, if she was so inclined to. For now she was just enjoying being with Todd right now, like this, before everything had to become so strange and confusing again. Gabe didn’t know where they’d go from here, only that she didn’t think she could take the sexual tension. Maybe friends with benefits wasn’t such a bad idea…At least focusing on the sexual aspect of their relationship might take her mind off of the more romantic details.

one last hope to rise and break away ABOVE THE FADED LINE way beyond the ties that bind Todd couldn't remember the last time he had felt so content than he did right now, in some ridiculous state of undress and draped over Gabe like a blanket. He sighed against her skin and pressed his lips gently to the softness of it, breathing her in and just lying contentedly on top of her. The sounds of the movie became clearer, and Todd shifted his head on Gabe's chest to glance at the TV, realizing that the two of them had missed quite a bit. Oh well, it wasn't like they hadn't seen Death Proof a gazillion times before. It was one of Gabe's favorites, after all, and she could quote the whole script - Todd knew this because he had heard her do it. The movie and how much they had missed didn't matter... all that mattered was this beautiful feeling, and the closeness that he felt to Gabe after sharing something like that with her.
Todd grinned half-heartedly when Gabe guessed that it was just inevitable that it would happen between them again. She wasn't wrong, Todd could see that now. But it wasn't supposed to have happened, any more than the first time was supposed to have happened, and that put quite a bit of a damper on things. Todd swallowed, remembering how he had felt after the first time, wondering if he had screwed up his whole friendship with Gabe and finding out later that he hadn't, but that it could never happen again... Maybe being friends with benefits was a stupid idea, but it was all that Todd had. Asking her out would be way too weird; she was his best friend after all and he knew she didn't feel about him the way he felt about her. She couldn't.
Todd closed his eyes, dreading going back to the way things had been... It had only been a week since he had been with her last, and it had been a week from hell. He couldn't imagine doing that again, but he had to. He had brought up the friends with benefits thing once before, and Gabe had told him that she didn't think it was a good idea. He wasn't going to bring it up again.
They'd just have to find a way to get through this. For now, though, Todd clung to that glowing feeling that followed sex, the closeness and the happiness that reality was quickly sucking away. He squeezed his eyes shut tighter and sighed, never wanting it to go away, even as it slipped away right in front of his eyes.
