when the devil wants to dance with you ,YOU BETTER SAY NEVER because a dance with the devil might last you forever - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Valentine’s Day, one of the worst days in the whole year. A day filled with candy hearts, roses, and cards to show affection for another person. It was the day for couples to enjoy each other, while singles moped around feeling lonely and depressed. The colors of Valentine’s Day made things even worse. The bright reds symbolizing passion and lust, pinks symbolizing hopes and dreams, and whites symbolizing purity… even if the day was all but pure. The one day a year where couples didn’t have to listen to the PDA rule, where they can express their feels for one another up until they become more… intimate. Yes, Valentine’s Day was full of happiness, sadness, joy, and destruction. The day itself was a favorite to even one of the gods. That’s right, Valentine’s Day meant LOVE.
Well, for most… Valentine’s Day meant love. For some couples, all it brought was frustration and anger. It was the time where couples feel the most stress in relationships. Where couples found out if their significant other really proves the feelings he or she has for the other. This is where problems start to blossom. Sometimes, the male would forget it was Valentine’s Day, and when he sees her and she’s expecting something. That would either end up with a broken heart or a very expensive gift later on to make up for it. There were other times when the female would know, but could never figure out what to get him. In the end, she would have to cook up great meals and later on make it up to him with a heated afternoon or night in the bedroom. It was sad really, but that’s how some relationships worked.
For Annabeth... She was beyond the point of either those options when it came to a certain boyfriend of hers. Now, it wasn’t quite Valentine’s Day yet, but it was just around the corner. Around a corner that had a huge sign slapped on it for a rare event for Camp Half-Blood… a Ball. A ball which a certain Son of Poseidon has lacked to ask a certain Daughter of Athena to yet. Rarely did Camp Half-Blood ever have holiday events such as these, but with so many new Half-Bloods staying at the camp year around it opened up many opportunities, much to Mr. D’s distaste. The Valentine’s Day Ball was one of these said events, and it was tradition for the male to ask the female to such a ball. Annabeth had been waiting for weeks for Percy to ask her. There had been several occasions where she thought he would, but then just doesn’t. This was grinding on her last nerve, and her patience was running very thin.
That evening, she entered the Pavilion for Dinner. Those who knew her well, could tell that she was angry at just one glance in her direction. Those who didn’t know her, just suddenly felt a cold draft blow by them when they were near her. The only people who really knew what was wrong were her siblings of Athena’s Cabin and Grover. Her siblings usually did the best they could do to cheer up their upset sister. While Grover had private conversations with Percy that never seemed to go the way he planned. Eventually, Annabeth was just getting fed up, and decided to give him the cold shoulder and see if he ever noticed. Plan, Get Percy to Ask Her to Ball, was under way.
Silently, she filled her plate with food, walking up to the Offer Flames. Maybe the gods would help her in this personal quest she had given herself. Hopefully, the Goddess of Love herself would lend a helping hand if she didn’t get a kick out of the situation to begin with. She took a long deep breath as she dropped a few pieces of food into the flames. Mother, Aunt Aphrodite, please help me with Percy. I need some sort of guidance, a way to get through his thick skull.. There was a slight hesitation before continuing. And, Poseidon… if you hear me… knock some sense into your son…
With that she turned, not even given Poseidon’s table a glance, before sitting with her siblings. Valentines Day...Percy didn't mind it really. He was never excited nor brought down by it. He never had any GF's to share it with, and most of the sulking about being single was from the girls. Percy didn't mind being single, he was still pretty young. Sure, in his past there was always a girl that caught his eye that he could have done something for, but he always shrugged it off. Valentines Day was just another Day to him. He showed his mother he loved her by buying some chocolates and giving her a hug, then again, he hugged her all the time. But now he had other things to worry about...Annabeth. Grover had been nagging him to do something before Annabeth went mad. Percy only laughed at the notion and figured he'd get something awesome for her. But it had to be intimate to. Percy shrugged, girls liked that kind of stuff. He did plan on asking her to the ball, but he was waiting for a special request of his to be made. He wanted to give her something pretty as a little gift along side. It wasn't necessarily his fault the Hephaestus kids had a lot of things to build and repair.
Recently, Percy had been teaching a few campers how to disarm an opponent with a sword. They were all around 12 years old, very promising, and reminded him of when he was new to the Camp. It was an interesting day, meeting a Fury, Grover becoming a goat hybrid thing, defeating the Minotaur, and losing his mom. But Percy it also reminded him of Luke. How Luke had trained him and drilled him for Percy's benefit so he could be a decent fighter. Soon he betrayed the camp. In the end Luke laid the finally hit that killed Kronos. But Percy couldn't forgive him that easily.
Percy had quickly showered and changed, not wanting to be late for dinner, otherwise there wouldn't be dinner because all the food would be devoured. He jogged easily over to the pavilion, there was still a long line of Aphrodite kids picking at the food line. He quickly snatched a plate and jumped in at the front, Poseidon came before them, and still did even if he was moment late. Percy shrugged off the dirty glares cast at him and quickly piled up his plate. He offered his food, said thanks to his dad, even gave a little to Athena too because he was trying to score brownie points with her. No matter what he did, the goddess would not lighten up on him about his 'relationship with Annabeth.'
Percy sat down at his table, digging in. The campers he was training were already decent for their age, and training for a few hours did make one hungry. Only when the Athena cabin went for food did he look up. Annabeth was easy to spot, not just because she was the leader, but because she was dresses to kill. He grey eyes were like hurricanes as she glanced around, she wore a bright red sweater, a nice pair jeans, seeing as they weren't ripped practice ones, even her boots had a purpose. Percy's mind stopped momentarily as he watched her lead her cabin back to the table. She looked amazing, but her expression said it all. Percy sighed, Darn Hephaestus kids. Couldn't you just taken the drachma and made the darned gift? Percy thought to himself. Annabeth had yet to glance over at him, she said little in conversation with her cabinamtes.
Percy tensed, wondering if moving to sit by her would be smart. He glanced at Chiron who gave him a 'No.' glance and shook his head slightly. Well, his fate was sealed. Percy sighed, tonight would not end very well. He figured there wasn't much to be done, Annabeth was ignoring him, which was working, he wanted to run over there and explain himself. But that would not be very smart and it would present dilemmas. Maybe he would snag her attention after the bon fire and talk to her. Sighing once more, he went back to his food, he tried to keep his eyes off Annabeth, but he bright shirt made him want to glance that way every minute. She was definintly making it hard. Chiron wouldn't let him over there, and talking to her right now wouldn't do very much good either. Percy continued to eat the rest of his food in silence.

when the devil wants to dance with you ,YOU BETTER SAY NEVER because a dance with the devil might last you forever - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The jerk wouldn’t even pay her any attention! How did she know this? She sat so she was facing his table, so she could keep an eye on him and see if she even spiked his attention. Apparently, nothing she was doing was working. She had tried hinting it at him, she tried getting Grover to talk to him, hell! She even hinted it damn Facebook! ( XDDDD I had to.) He still couldn’t get the hint. It was getting very frustrating and she was just about to end of her rope. This was not going to be sitting well with her for a while if he didn’t come out and ask soon. With an irritated grumble, her eyes snapped down to her plate and looked at the food on her plate in deep thought. It bothered her to no end and she was starting to worry that maybe he didn’t want to go with her.
What else could she do? Today she even went back to her cabin early to put this outfit on! Her siblings even helped her out by letting her borrow their clothing. Silently, Annabeth looked down at the expensive red sweater she had on… this particular sweater she had borrowed off a Daughter of Aphrodite for a special effect. She had hoped that they spells of love, beauty, and sexuality would still linger in the fibers of the sweat and would enchant Percy into asking. Apparently even THAT didn’t work on him. She wondered if even her Aunt Aphrodite herself would be able to get through to him. With his thick skull, it was amazing she even put up with him in the first place. That thought made her sadden a bit. That wasn’t true… she loved him way too much for that. Now, she wondered if she would ever get the chance to tell him that.
Finally, out of sheer irritation, emotional battles, and pure anger… Annabeth Chase picked up her roll, stood, and chunked it across the pavilion straight into her boyfriend face. The WHOLE pavilion went quiet, but it went unnoticed as Annabeth stared fiercely at him. Her chest rose and fell out her anger, and if look could kill… poor Percy would have been dead by now. It still didn’t register what she had just done, and how much trouble she would be in later. The silence was thick as she stared at him. What would he do, would that at least catch his attention? Or would she have to grab her whole plate of food and go over to him and slam it in his face. And oh, was it tempting.
Her hand went for her plate, not even thinking about what she was doing anymore. Without even glancing in Chiron’s direction she marched over to Percy. ”PERCUS ALLEN JACKSON!!” Her voice was low and dangerous, and the next thing she did even made her pause. She took her plate and dumped its contents over his head. Well, she knew she had his attention now… but she didn’t quite plan it like that. Now she was causing an embarrassing scene in front of the entire camp, and that brought a blush to her cheeks as she stood over the poor boy now covered in food. The sight actually gave her the urge to laugh, but she had more things to worry about.

Percy continued to eat his food, about half his plate left. Every now and then he would cast a worried glance over at the Athena table, but Annabeth wouldn't meet his gaze. The campers around her gave him a warning expression that he was in trouble. "Great." he muttered to himself, focusing back on his plate. Percy picked at his food, figuring she was just pissed about the ball. It had to be it! He didn't remember doing anything else worthy of him to deserve this from Annabeth. Percy thought this was a bit to intense for just not asking her to the ball, but dances and big events made girls crazy. Sighing, he glanced once more at a differed Athena-kid and got the same expression of 'she's going to kill you.' This day is not going to end well. Percy unhappily thought, returning his attention back to picking at his food.
He was definintly surprised. Moments after lapsing into another state of zoning out, a dinner roll nailed him in the face. "What in Hades?" he said rather loudly. Percy put a hand on his cheek, when it had nailed him. The dinner pavilion had silenced and stared. Percy's sea colored eyes glanced up in time to see Annabeth's death glare. He caught his breath, "I really dont like where this is going." he said, thinking aloud. Annabeth had just hit him in the face with a dinner roll! But his face was no where near the amount of pain he would be in. Her glare said it all. Percy looked upwards, trying to get his bearings. He quickly snapped his head down in time to hear heated footsteps headed towards him. Annabeth's eyes looked like they would shoot thunder from them at any moment. Her voice was low and very dangerous, it held a sharp edge that sliced the air as she spoke his name. Now standing above him, Percy wanted to scoot away and get some sort of safety barrier between them. He didn't even notice the loaded plate in her hand until it hovered above him. He closed his eyes as it rained meat, potatoes, and veggies all over him. This was not happening. Percy was drenched in gravy and dressing, clumps of mashed potatoes and meat stuck to his body. Oh, this was war. He looked back at Annabeth, raising an eye brow, giving her a 'that was a smart thing to do' expression.
Percy stood up, stepping next to the table and in front of Annabeth. His mind faltered for a moment, wondering Chirons expression, these two were supposed to be a badass team, and were respected at the camp. And here they were in a facedown. "Annabeth," Percy said in a casual way, "That looks like a really expensive sweater." he said before quickly dumping the rest of his plate on her head. He knew that he shouldn't retort like this, but the opportunity was too tempting. He figured he'd smile unfazed at her, but he did not want to push her. It must be pretty darned important to her for this Wise Girl to throw a roll at him, and then walk over in front of the whole camp and dump her plate of food all over him. Damn.. Remembering that their were more than just the two of them present, he broke his gaze with her and looked around. Campers were giggling silently, staring wide-eyed at the sudden commotion, and Percy even heard a few whispers about breakups. He glanced at Annabeth to see if she heard them. Percy shook his head, trying to dismiss the thoughts, he hoped that wasn't Annabeth's intentions. Now his mind set to getting them out of this silent rut. Looking at his plate, a piece of mashed potatoes still clung, so he scooped it with his index finger and flung it at the Hermes table, hitting a good target. Hermes kids were rowdy and always causing mischief, so hitting one of them would likely start a food fight. And it did. The whole table began launching rounds of food at others. Percy looked at Chiron, who held a distasteful frown and a grim expression. "Well she started it!" he thought in his mind. Glancing at Annabeth he raised an eyebrow at her and folded his arms across his chest. There was no way she was escaping explanation for this one.
