k i s s m e o n t h e s i d e w a l kt a k e a w a y t h e p a i n b e c a u s e i s e e[ SPARKS FLY ]- - - - - - - - - - The plan had sounded rather good in theory, most things usually did. Of course saying and doing something, were two totally different things. Which was why Melanie found herself standing inside the empire state building.. For the past two hours...as sad as it seems she had yet to do anything..and in some ways, she simply considered turning around and walking out of here. A sigh escaped her lips, brushing a loose strand of hair from out of her face as age glanced around. As much as she wanted to leave, deep down she knew that she could't walk away.
There was a real and true reason for being here and she couldn't leave until she got some answers. She had waited long enough, seventeen years, it wasn't fair... Maybe it seemed selfish, but she felt that she deserved better than this...that her sister was better than this... She closed her eyes for a moment, leaning back against the wall that was behind her. Mt. Olympus was so close and yet so far away, demigods were forbidden there...but she had to do something. For seventeen years she had gone not knowing who her Mother was... Who she is
One of the many Gods on Mt. Olympus, one of them up there was responsible for the birth of her and her sister...she had so many questions...so many thoughts running through her head. The first she wanted to know who her Mother is...and that 's why she was here. If her Mother wasn't going to claim her...she wanted to go up there and find her. Maybe it wasn't the idea of finally knowing...more than anything she just wanted to know why...why she and her sister weren't good enough for her. Yes she got that Gods had tons of children...and didn't particularly like getting close to them..But she wasn't wanting one on one Mommy time...she just wanted the truth.
Was that really too much to ask for?
The feel of her phone vibrating caught Melanie's attention. Even in her purse it wasn't hard to tell when it was going off. The vibration was short, only lasting a few seconds. Her indication that she had just received a new text message. It took her a moment of digging through her purse but finally when she found her phone she unlocked it to see a message from her sister. Wanting to of course know where she was. As much as she hated it, Melanie hadn't told Elena where she was going...she hadn't even told her she was leaving.
Melanie hated lying to her, and she knew she couldn't tell anyone about this. That morning she had gotten up rather early. And she had cut a few of her classes. For the first time she was truly glad that Elena had dropped out and was now being home schooled..so she had an alibi until right now apparently... 'Sorry. I can't talk right now. At Alyssa's. I'll see you later.' was what Melanie wrote back before putting her phone away. If things went well, she'd tell her sister the truth...though from the way things had gone so far. It didn't seem like that was going to happen.
This was so frustrating, how differently demigods were treated. "Can't you just make one exception..I won't be long..just enough for someone to notice me. I can even say you stepped away for a minute and you didn't know I was there..." Her brown eyes narrowed, glaring at the man as he ignored her. It was his job, but still, it wouldn't kill him to make an exception this once. She was stubborn and determined...the only two things that had stopped her from giving up long ago. She was going to figure this out, even if it was the last thing she did...

I'M THE NEW CANCER •• N E V E R • L O O K E D • B E T T E R •• A N D Y O U C A N ' T S T A N D I T- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Ares had been busy the past week, ever since her sister Hailey had “returned” from her banishment. Danna hardly thought it was because of Hailey, but he was hard at work with some project or another that no one knew about…No one but Zeus, of course. She highly doubted it was some war, considering Deimos knew very little and Adestria knew even less than that. And they were his main soldiers when it came to starting wars and such. Danna had practiced every day with Deimos and now and then trained with Adestria, as well, but none were as skilled as Ares and therefore inferior and useless in Danna’s mind. They were strong, yes, but she had already beaten them both more than Ares…It wasn’t much, but it was enough to not trust their strength at all. She only wanted the best of the best, and Ares was too preoccupied doing one thing or another. She hadn’t seen him in days…No one really had. It was frustrating, and Danna could only hope whatever it was was important enough to keep her from her proper training.
Training didn’t last nearly so long today, as Deimos was needed elsewhere and Danna didn’t feel up to training with Adestria. She was frustrated, and where she went when she was frustrated was a bit out of the question at the moment. Normally she’d go to the Underworld, but the Fields of Punishment had become so dull these days, and she did not feel like running into Jesse at the moment. It still bothered her, that strange power he seemed to hold over her, and was starting to remind her too much of how things had been with Tony. That left only one option: Earth. If she couldn’t torment the damned souls in the Underworld she could always torture the damned souls still alive on Earth. It was a favorite pastime of hers, and having had so much fun with it with Jesse on their “vacation”, she hadn’t quite had enough and only made her want it more. She’d go down for the day, perhaps buy a house in New York City or a nearby town. Somewhere close to Olympus, but in the mortal world…A private place for her to go for fun whenever she visited, which she hoped would be more often now that she had enjoyed such success and fun only a couple of weeks ago.
With this in mind, Danna stashed what was left of her mortal money in a small handbag and dressed in mortal fashions before exiting and leaving the Walkway and standing in the elevator. Leaving the 600th floor of the Empire State Building, she traveled down to the first, surprised by the words she heard just outside the elevator. The doors slowly opened and she raised her eyebrow at the young brunette standing just outside. A demigod, of course. The guard tensed up and stepped a bit in front of Danna as she exited to stop the demigod from dashing forward to get inside. Danna paused beside her and appraised the young girl. Foolish girl. “One would assume that anyone would be smart enough to realize the impossibility of getting past guards the gods themselves put up to keep their home safe. And that intruders would not be handled lightly,” she explained, shaking her head. She didn’t know why she bothered…The girl was but a child, a demigod, and the sort of being Danna did not wish to have anything to do with. Part of her had once considered making the demigods part of her plan to overthrow the major Twelve, but with idiocy like this she wasn’t so sure. They were all so reckless and foolish. “I wouldn’t go if I were you, at any rate. It’s not as great as they make it seem,” she explained before walking off.

k i s s m e o n t h e s i d e w a l kt a k e a w a y t h e p a i n b e c a u s e i s e e[ SPARKS FLY ]- - - - - - - - - - She sighed once more, turning around only to notice that several pares of eyes were on her. But her stance, the way she was presenting herself...none of the workers had considered going up to her. Asking her to leave the empire state building entirely would be the next step. Her actions would be considered suspicious...standing in front of an elevator for several hours wasn't exactly normal. She was so young, no one would take her seriously, and because she wasn't seen as a threat, they let her be..for the time being.
She couldn't stay here all day, and so far she had made little to no progress. She shifted her weight, smoothing out the front of her skirt. Pursing her lips, she glanced around the room. Her ideas were slowly running out, to the point that age honestly didn't have any more. Now as little as her Father was around, if she wasn't home when he was...he'd know something was up. She was not really the 'good' child, she was no innocent angel, but she was smart enough not to stay out late...right mow it was around five in the afternoon, she'd stay a little longer..but she had to go very soon.
She sighed rather loudly, spinning around to face the guard once more. "You know what? I-" Her voice cut off at the sound of the elevator moving and finally opening up on their floor. She took a step forward but from te stance of the guard it was rather obvious that she wouldn't get any closer to the door. Of course for the moment her focus wasn't on him or trying to get up to Mt. Olympus, her eyes were on the woman who stepped off of the elevator. She was beautiful, blond hair and green eyes, a youthful innocence about her.
Melanie wasn't attracted by any mean to any woman. But it was hard not to be captivated by her for the moment at least. She had never personally met a god, so no one could blame her for the say that she was reacting. She quickly shook her head, a sigh escaping her lips as she did so. "I figured hurting couldn't try...and it's not about getting up there...I want to get her attention, whoever she is..." She glanced towards the elevator a moment more...as much as she wanted to stay, she felt like she needed to go.
"Wait..." She said, turning and following after the goddess..She had Bo idea who she was, but she honestly wanted to know. Maybe she wasn't her Mother...but by small miracle, she might know who her Mother is..."There is a reason I've been waiting there..maybe it's stupid but I can't bow know...My Mother...a Goddess, she never claimed my sister and I. I...I don't want to know her...I just want to know why she decided we weren't even good enough to claim." The anger was clear I'n her voice, and she stopped her self after a moment. "Sorry...I didn't mean to bore you with all that..."

I'M THE NEW CANCER •• N E V E R • L O O K E D • B E T T E R •• A N D Y O U C A N ' T S T A N D I T- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - “Ahhh,” Danna said in understanding at the strange demigod girl before her. An unclaimed demigod, of course. Her words spoke it all. She was unclaimed, possibly bitter and yet curious for it all, and she wanted to go up to Olympus to try to find her mother. Why someone would want to find a mother that didn’t want them was beyond her; personally Danna would be just fine not knowing who her own mother was. She’d probably say the same about her father, was he not so useful to her in her training. While this girl was so obsessed with finding her mother, Danna was grateful it was not Christian or Azrael and hoped to all of the gods that neither of them tried pulling this. It certainly wouldn’t help their cause and she’d probably have to go to Hecate to get a poison to be rid of their asses if they bothered trying something so stupid and pointless. That would be two less unclaimed demigods to worry about.
There were many unclaimed demigods these days, more so now than ever before. It was more than a matter of Zeus or Poseidon wanting to hide their broken promises, or other gods ashamed of themselves or whatever it was. It was almost an epidemic. Everything had seemed so fine not too long ago, and now Camp Half Blood was flooded with unclaimed demigods. It was creating quite the stir in Mount Olympus, and even down below in the realms of Poseidon and Hades. This was huge, it was more than just one of the Big Three breaking a promise, it was all of the gods. They had all sworn on the River Styx to claim all of their children, all of them, and now there seemed to be more troubles than ever before. Everyone was freaking out, and honestly Danna figured the biggest problem was the moment more than a few were unclaimed everyone started freaking out. And the moment that happened, before anyone had a chance to examine and claim their children, they became too afraid to do so, as if it would elect them as the culprit of them all. Danna didn’t think it was some big conspiracy because the only thing it was doing was making everyone paranoid, and served no other real purpose.
At any rate, Danna was moving on. Whoever this was, she wasn’t of any importance to Danna. At least she didn’t think so until the girl followed her and stopped her. Danna paused and took a deep breath before turning to the young demigod, listening to her sob story. As the girl babbled on, though, Danna considered her more. Maybe demigods weren’t much, but they would be something. The entire point of this was that there was power in numbers, and the minor gods by far outnumbered the major gods. And if that wasn’t enough, surely adding demigods to the mix was more than enough power to knock even Zeus out of his throne. Danna pursed her lips and relaxed a bit, nodding her head and smiling sadly at the young girl. “That is horrible…But unsurprising. I’m sure you’ve noticed the horrible…Rise in the numbers of unclaimed demigods. Even if you went up there, you’d probably never learn who she is. They’re…Selfish, most of them. Arrogant. Whoever she is and whatever the reasons, I’m sure you don’t want to know…Nevertheless, at this rate I’m sure you’ll find out before long…And then perhaps you could ask for a sign or something. But personal meetings with one of them? I doubt you’d be so lucky, let alone even getting the truth out of her,” she explained, folding her arms loosely over her chest.

k i s s m e o n t h e s i d e w a l kt a k e a w a y t h e p a i n b e c a u s e i s e e[ SPARKS FLY ]- - - - - - - - - - Getting up the elevator had been her only goal for the day, and the fact that she had gotten nowhere...well she shouldn't have been leaving just yet. But while she had been standing there, she never would have expected for a god to actually come down. Maybe she wasn't one of the major twelve, but she was still a goddess, and Melanie still honestly couldn't have been happier to see her. She bite her lower lip, not sure how well following the goddess would go, but honestly she didn't mean any harm. Even still, she made sure to keep her distance as she walked behind her.
What was even more surprising that someone coming to earth, it was how open she was being with her. It was like she had simply berm unable to hold it all I'n. The only person she had ever shared her frustrations with was Elena, and no offense to her sister, but it wasn't like there was anything that either of them could do. This girl, for right now she was Melanie's one and only hope. As beautiful as the woman was, Melanie had to admit there was something familiar about her. She had never met her before, but in a way it felt like she in fact had.
Her heels clicked softly against the tiled floor, well at least until she came to a stop. Her heart skipped a beat, it was unable to hide the fact that she was nervous. She sighed to herself, brushing a loose strand of hair from out of her face. The last thing she ever expected for the Goddess to acknowledge her...let alone agree with her on some level. And that surprise was clear for the world to see on her face, well until she managed to change her expression.
She nodded slowly after a few moments. "There are a few...that I know other than my sister and myself.." She paused, trying to think of all the unclaimed demigods she could think of, and really she hadn't known there were that many. "I only go to camp during the summer...but my family took in a girl named Azrael and she's unclaimed too. Oh and there's Christian as well. I mean with them..I guess I can't complain. At least I still have my Dad, even if he never is around..." Saying that showed her that she really shouldn't complain. Christian, she didn't know about about but Azrael, her Father died when she was just a baby. "But...you're not like that...I mean like them..." She said referring to the older gods. But she by no means meant that as an insult.

I'M THE NEW CANCER •• N E V E R • L O O K E D • B E T T E R •• A N D Y O U C A N ' T S T A N D I T- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Her stomach sank as the young woman mentioned both of her children, Azrael Katharine Vulcan and Christian Dorian Davek. At least she assumed it had to be them, especially Azrael…Who else had that name, let alone an unclaimed demigod? Still, this was lucky, even if she wanted nothing to do with them she knew she needed to do this. She allowed mild shock to cross her expression at the mention of their names and feigned an impressive look of sweet sorrow at the young woman’s question. “I’d like to think not. The little…outbreak has made things difficult for those of us who actually care for our children,” Danna lied smoothly, shaking her head with a frown. “It’s like…The moment someone claims anyone, they become the one. The one responsible for it all. I admit, it worried me for a bit, knowing how they all are. But just…Seeing how pitiful and sad all of the unclaimed are…Well, I don’t give a damn about consequences anymore. My children deserve much better and if I have to be punished for it, then so be it,” she said bravely.
She was correct, of course. The reason many weren’t being claimed was because people were too afraid that stepping out for one person would label them the mastermind behind it all. However, Danna had only made two trips to Earth in her lifetime and certainly hadn’t had enough time to carry that many children. At the same time, why would she claim anyone at all, if she was scared of something like that happening? With others so afraid of doing anything, Danna figured she’d take the opposite approach. For one thing, Hera and Artemis could both verify both of her pregnancies, considering they had kept a careful eye on her during both of them to be sure she wouldn’t murder her own children before they were born. Besides, Danna needed this. Not only would finally claiming Christian and Azrael hopefully make them loyal to her, but other unclaimed would hopefully join her ranks, as well. One could only hope.
“I was on my way to do just that, actually, and I do believe fate put you in my path,” Danna said with a small smile. “Considering you know both of my children,” she said with a small laugh, shaking her head. “Could you bring me to them? Or perhaps arrange some sort of meeting? I’m very eager to meet them both,” she said with a sincere smile. Oh the lies she told and how beautifully they were displayed. She seemed like such an honest, caring mother. If only she knew. “I would be very grateful. Unless you’re hoping to get through anytime soon,” she said doubtfully, glancing back at the elevator.

k i s s m e o n t h e s i d e w a l kt a k e a w a y t h e p a i n b e c a u s e i s e e[ SPARKS FLY ]- - - - - - - - - - Melanie, even though she hadn't quite accomplished her original goal. Things were going much better than she ever could have hoped. She hadn't come any closer to getting up to Mt. Olympus. But someone from there had come down to her...well maybe not to her, but either way a goddess was now standing in front of her. Her weight shifted a bit, she wasn't entirely sure what to do...she had never personally met a god before. She didn't know if there was something she was supposed to do or say...
When she opened up to the woman before her, honestly she had expected her to be angry. However, she was actually opening up in the same manor. Melanie was truly drawn into her story. The pain in her voice, was all too convincing, never I'n a million years would she doubt it. She swallowed, her heart literally aching with the need to help her, sadly she had no idea what to do... "That's stupid..I mean why do they care so much. It's not right....you can't claim your children just because of some stupid rumor." She sighed under her breath, feeling so guilty even though she personally had done nothing.
"Maybe...I don't know what I could possibly do, but I really wish there was something I could do to help you..." Her voice was soft, the concern was clearly there as she took a small step closer to her. "Do you know.. Where they are at least?" She glanced around the room, no one was nearby, and anyone else in the room was not paying attention to them. Melanie as she stood with her, the concern easily melted into that of confusion. It was fate that brought Melanie to her? That made no sense to her. "oh, I know them..wait...you don't mean...?"
It was plural, Melanie knew her children...and so far, she only knew three demigods. Not including herself...and considering that another was her own sister, it only left two..."Christian and Azrael...?" They were related? Now that would just be too weird...there were some similarities, but not enough for her to consider them to be siblings. Then again she and Elena didn't exactly look alike and they were twins. She nodded though, pulling out her cell phone before speaking once again.
"My luck with elevators..it hasn't exactly been great...But I'd be more than happy to help you." Her own inside comment...the first part at least Danna wouldn't understand. She wouldn't know how the last time Melanie had been on an elevator it had been with her son and the stupid thing had broke down. That day she had made a huge mistake, and yet it didn't feel like it was...it was far too complicated. She made up her mind then, maybe she didn't know this woman, but she wanted to help her...she felt like she had to help her.
"Where do you want me to have them meet me? Azrael will go anywhere...no questions asked. As for Christian, I'll just mention sex or something...if not with me again, I'll tell him there's a girl interested In him, he'll be all over that." She said with a small laugh, trying to ignore the way those words made her feel. She cleared her throat, shaking her head. "Anyway...I'm Melanie..."

I'M THE NEW CANCER •• N E V E R • L O O K E D • B E T T E R •• A N D Y O U C A N ' T S T A N D I T- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Danna resisted the temptation to smirk at the young girl, still pleased after all of this time how easy it was to fool people. She kept her expression as soft and sorrowful as it had been, though, and shrugged her shoulders at the girl’s comment. “Yes, well…A lot of things are ridiculous up there. You’re very lucky to not have to deal with it,” she said, sighing heavily. “For a while I considered it might be dangerous for them, too, but I figure now it might be safer for them to not be unclaimed…There’s no telling what they’re going to decide or what they’re going to do or anything,” Danna sighed. The more she could do to earn the girl’s sympathies and turn her anger and bitterness towards the ones in charge, the better off things would be.
The girl seemed so eager to help. And help she could. She had mentioned her children, which was her new plan. She had also mentioned an unclaimed sister that could also be of some use. It wasn’t much, but it was at least a start. She could only hope she could overthrow the major gods in their lifetime so they could hopefully be of some use instead of just a waste of time. She knew it would take a long time, but she supposed it wouldn’t hurt to work on demigods on the off chance they could come in handy. And once they all died off she could work on other recruits and she could continue to do so until the time was right. Perhaps she’d have been more willing to go through such trouble if her own children weren’t involved, honestly not wanting to bother with them, but they were her best shot at starting her demigod army.
She smiled as the young girl mentioned their names and nodded her head. “At least I assume they are. I don’t know many Christian or Azrael demigods, and the fact that you know people of both those names sounds rather promising. Davek and Vulcan?” she asked to clarify, managing some hopefulness in her tone and a bit of wariness in case the girl told her she had the wrong idea. Danna knew better, though. She sadly knew without a doubt that those brats this girl had mentioned were her brats. She didn’t think twice about the elevator comment--really didn’t care. But she grinned gratefully as the girl agreed to help her, then babbling on for a moment and introducing herself. “Well it’s a pleasure to meet you, Melanie. I’m Danica, though I prefer Danna, if you don’t mind,” she said before pondering. Where to meet the little weasels. “Perhaps a private table at Re Sette. Somewhere public enough for them to feel safe, but private enough to hold this sort of conversation,” she said with a smile, waiting patiently for Melanie to start things. She wanted nothing more than to get this over with.
