ABOUTME:
Richard has Aspergers Syndrome, something that dominates most of his personality and most of his life. He is awkward in social situations, talking about things that might be considered odd to most people and is not very empathetic, showing little sympathy or emotion. He uses very big words and takes everything in a very literal sense. He is very obsessed with lizards and has a lingering interest in toy cars and the color blue from his childhood. Most of his conversations and thoughts are aimed towards lizards and studying them. Relationships with people are hard to manage, though he is one of the lucky "aspies" who has managed to make a few friends.========================================

HISTORY:
Richard Mason Walton III, aka Mason, was a brilliant child. In school he skipped two grades and graduated two years early, valedictorian. He began college at the age of seventeen, a wise enough young man to hold a very intelligent conversation with his teachers. Mason was indecisive, though, uncertain if he would become a scientist or a surgeon or a mathematician or whatever else have you. He dabbled a bit with different majors the first two years, and was still stuck at freshman level for his current major the time people his age entered college. Finally, at the age of twenty, Mason decided to become an engineer. Finally, Mason felt secure with life and began to progress, starting off behind those his age, though quickly jumping ahead in his studies, taking semesters during summer and taking on as many courses as possible to be done in time, his parents threatening to disinherit him and leave him without the money to continue his education and his interests.
Mason’s life was in for quite the surprise when he turned twenty three. He was only a semester or two away from graduation when he met a woman, a very beautiful and charming woman that he easily fell in love with. She was brilliant and very wise beyond her physical years. She never did more than kiss him once or twice, pecks on the lips and letting him hold her hand. Physical affection did little for the woman who seemed more interested in discussing politics, war, medicine, and history and other such subjects. It was too soon that she left him and Mason for a while suffered without her, grades dropping from their usual perfection down to Bs. He moved on, though, forcing himself to continue his education. Meanwhile, on Mount Olympus, Athena (the woman he loved) decided to bear his child. Even without help of sex to get her pregnant, Athena thought up their child and carried him to term. Unfortunately, during her pregnancy, Athena and Hera got into a small squabble that resulted in Hera cursing the child, to make it both more difficult on not only the father, but the child’s life, as well.
When their son was born, Athena miserably sent him to Mason who named the boy Richard Mason Walton IV. Athena and Mason sensed nothing wrong in Richard for a while. He seemed a normal boy, though perhaps more introverted than most. At a young age he took a great liking to anything blue, which seemed just a phase and perfectly normal. Then in childhood he became obsessed with Hot Wheels, requiring quite a large collection he kept in shoe boxes under his bed, all of the cars stacked neatly in their boxes. Twice a week he would take them all out and wash them carefully. On a daily basis he would take all of the cars out and line them up in different arrangements. Then the cars were put back into their different places. It was in this stage that Mason discovered something off about his son, wishing to surprise Mason with a brand new purple truck for his collection, placing it in the wrong box, causing a conniption fit and Mason stood back and watched his son remove all of the cars and arrange them all in proper order, finally calming down once all were cleaned and placed back into their proper stations.
At the age of six, Richard was diagnosed with ADHD. At the age of eight he was diagnosed with dyslexia. And finally, at age twelve, he was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome. Athena was distraught over realizing her son’s misfortune. At twelve, monsters began following Richard and upon being informed of what his son was and what was happening from a satyr, one of Richard’s classmates, Mason uprooted them and moved to New York City. Richard went to Camp Half Blood that summer and went unclaimed. He spent most of his time indoors, messing around with his collection of Hot Wheels and by the end of the summer had no new friends and no real stories to tell. Mason was concerned for his son, but remained with him. Mason had graduated college and that summer had married his girlfriend of a little over a year, Marianne. Marianne had been around Richard before, but living with him with Mason was hard on her. The couple began having problems, but Richard was oblivious. The time he was thirteen he had a little brother named Gregory. Marianne wished to call him Greg, but the moment Richard realized his name was Gregory, he corrected everyone on every nickname they gave him until nicknames became impossible and he was just Gregory.
At fourteen, at Camp Half Blood, Richard found a new obsession one day when he found a lizard in one of his Hot Wheels boxes. He began hunting down all lizards in the area all summer, which was how he met a girl named Gabrielle Evans. She had a pet lizard named Byrd that she showed him, and while he was confused by the naming of the creature, he was fascinated by it. That summer he made his first friend ever in Gabrielle Evans, and that following year at school actually had people to talk to. Gabrielle had many friends, so his social abnormalities began to loosen up a bit and made things a bit easier on Richard. His obsession wasn’t quite so intense and he was more confident approaching strangers, though he still isn’t quite as normal as most people are, and for the most part he doesn’t care and most of the time remains oblivious to the fact.
At fifteen, at camp, the year Percy saved Olympus the gods were forced to vow to claim all of their children, resulting in Athena claiming Richard, though many were still left unclaimed and even more so now than ever. Knowing his mother hasn’t changed much in Richard.========================================
