APPEARANCE:
Persephone has the appearance of a Woman around the age 30, in very fit and healthy condition. She has a slim, curvaceous body, and an ever so slight tanned pigment to her skin that is only apparent during the time she spends with her Mother. However when she is in the Underworld with Hades, her pigment becomes faded and pale, as if she almost looks anaemic. Her face is one of typically goddess-like beauty, most especially in the Spring and Summer seasons, where her face almost glows with the growth and life spurt, she has a feminine structure to her face, delicate jaw bones that gently curve off into her chin, and high, rounded cheekbones. Her eyes are brown, but differ depending on which season it is, in the spring and summer her eyes are a warm, chocolate brown, welcoming and alive, flecks of caramel and coffee running through the chocolate, however in winter and autumn, her eyes are a dark, withered brown, almost black, seeming to become incredibly washed out, as if the Underworld was draining her life force. However, even though this may be the case, her beauty is carried out consistently through each season. She is often dressed in pastel, natural colours, like faded greens and browns, beiges and nude colours, she sometimes donns black and grey in the Underworld, more so to suit her role than her own personal taste. When she is with her Mother, she tends to have vines intertwined within the strands of her hair which is obsidian black, or flowers blooming/butterflies flying from within it, however when she is in the Underworld with Hades, these seem to disappear, and she might often be found with chunky bronze/silver jewellery often laiden with tiny bones, and spirits of nymphs intertwined within her hair.========================================

HISTORY:
Persephone was most different to her siblings, she did not hold a stable position at Olympus at her birth, she instead favored living far from the other Deities, preferring to live as a goddess purely within nature herself. She was often found in a field of flowers and beautiful plants, playing with young Flower Nymphs and Nature Spirits. She remained far from the high status and position at Mt Olympus throughout the majority of her Growth, preferring to protect and nurture the plants and flowers. She grew at a fast rate, however, and as soon as she reached marriageable rate, Gods began to take notice of her, having not seen much of her considering her absence from Olympus. The gods, Hermes, Ares, Apollo and Haphaestus offered to woo her with gifts and offers of love, but her own Mother, Demeter, a protective Mother, rejected all their gifts and hid her daughter away from the Gods and Goddesses of Olympus. Although hidden, Persephone lived a peaceful and joyful life, where it was forever spring, and fruits and flowers constantly bloomed and brought colour and happiness into the time with her Mother.
One day, Persephone’s uncle, Hades, decided he had become lonely and depressed, he decided his life in the Underworld was not complete, and that he needed a Queen to rule by his side. In a search for a wife, Hades spied his own niece, Persephone, dancing joyfully in a field one day, and became truly seduced by her pure beauty and her serene grace, and immediately decided she was the one. It was in Enna, when Hades came to abduct Persephone and claim her as his wife. He burst through a cleft into the Earth and stole her from the field, taking her into the Underworld. Unbeknown to Persephone, who was distraught and shocked, the nymphs who were with her were turned into Sirens by Demeter for having not interrupted the capture, or even attempting to stop it. It was upon that day that Summer fell into Autumn, and life began to wither as Demeter became devastated and lonely, she began her search for her Daughter, desperate. Helios, the all-seeing Sun, told Demeter of what had happened after some time, and she immediately began to stop caring for the Earth in her devastation, the land did not flourish with food, and the Mortals began to starve, causing a sudden surge in death.
Persephone was stubborn and awkward as soon as she learned of Hades’ mission and the reasons why he had kidnapped her. She was furious more so that he had separated her form her Mother, and because of that became incredibly hateful of him. Hades however, was persistent, he tried many methods to attempt to make her love him, but all to no avail. At first, he showered Persephone with gifts, but she shrugged them off, cold and harsh, traits that she had never experienced before. Not one gift would she accept, she would simply rid her vision of them. Insistent on making her love him, Hades instead decided to make her do so in another way, taking to spending everyday with his Wife, devoting his time to her and working to make her as happy as can be. Soon, Persephone came to revel in having time away from her Mother, realising that she had so much more freedom. Hecate, the Goddess of Magic and Witchcraft, as a friend of Persephone’s and with the ability to pass freely within all realms, came to the Underworld, pleasing Hades, because Persephone enjoyed spending time with her friend, and seeing Persephone happy made Hades happy.
Above the cavernous darkness of the Underworld and unheard by Persephone, cries of pain and death were being screamed by the Mortals, and the deities could not ignore them, they fled to Zeus in desperation for a settlement. Finally, Zeus, pressed by the mortals screams and the other deities requests, forced Hades to return Persephone to her Mother. It was on her way from the Underworld that Hades offered Persephone three pomegranate seeds, he laid them to her as a parting gift of his love, and with her caring, tender nature returning, she accepted them, eating them in the Underworld. However, Persephone wasn’t knowledgeable of the rule of the Fates that whoever consumed food or drink in the Underworld was forever to be bound to spend eternity there. Zeus was furious, however he and Hades compromised, and they agreed that Persephone would spend half the year with her Mother, and the other half with Hades.
When Persephone and her Mother were reunited for half of the year, the Earth became alive again, flourishing with food, plants and flowers, and the Mortals death toll decreased rapidly. However for the other half of the year, when Persephone returned to the Underworld, the Earth once again became barren, cold and riddled with death. And so the seasons became. When Persephone returned to her Mother, Spring and Summer came to the Earth, and Winter and Autumn fell upon the Earth when she went to Hades in the Underworld. It was when this agreement was made that she herself agreed to become Hades Wife and the Queen of the Underworld, granting her also the status of Goddess of Life and Death.
Life with Hades was happy, eventually, and Persephone, as a woman of life and growth, craved for a child. As difficult as it was, living only half the year with Hades, she succeeded in her desire, and just at the right time, for she became pregnant just a month after her return to Mt. Olympus, but she knew very well that meant that the child would be born in the Underworld, and she wanted nothing more from the birth. Her Mother, Demeter, fussed over her, tending to her every need and more, which was of course nice, but she wished almost to have some time alone with the child inside her womb. When it came time to return to the Underworld, it was only a month and a half from her due date, and her Mother desperately attempted to make her stay at Mt Olympus for her birth, but Hades refused and demanded his wife return to the Underworld. Demeter was more than happy to return, and she knew that if she did not, the seasons would dramatically change and the mortals would suffer as they once did before.
The child was born to life in the Underworld, a contradiction to it’s status of being the Land of the Dead. Persephone took tender, motherly care of her child more so than she had ever cared for anything in her entire life. She spent all of her time with him for the first few years of his life, bringing him up to Mt. Olympus for Summer and Spring were she introduced him to the rest of the family, and returning to the Underworld with her. However when he came to the age where he could make the decision himself, she let him stay with his Father, only returning to Mt. Olympus with her when he decided to do so. She wasn’t particularly happy with moments of his life, where he whored himself out, and ridded himself of the pest females by riddling them with disease, evil traits he inherited from his Father. However, she was at least thankful that he constantly returned to his Mother and Father, no matter what.========================================
