Jesmar
========================================
========================================
[/s][/li][/ul]
MYNAMEIS: Jesmar
CALLME: Although his real name is Jesmar, he goes by Jesse. While on Earth, he goes by Jesse Mercer.
ILIKE: girls
IAM: 326
BORNON: October 26, 1684
SPECIES: God of Disease========================================
PLAYEDBY: Milo Ventimiglia
HEIGHT: 10’ 1”
WEIGHT: 335
MYHAIR: Jesse has very dark brown hair, nearly black like his father’s. Sometimes he cuts it short, and other times he lets it grow out a bit, about to the lobes of his ears.
MYEYES: Jesse’s eyes are light brown, and usually stern.
MYFACE: Jesse has a strong jaw and chin, and high cheekbones. He is usually clean-shaven, though sometimes he allows a bit of light stubble to grow on his jaw and upper lip. He doesn’t like the way he looks with a full beard, though. His expression is usually hard and serious, as he rarely shows the more lighthearted side of his personality.
MYBODY: Being a god, Jesse has a strong build. He has hard, corded muscles beneath rather pale skin, as he spends most of his time in the Underworld. He does tan beautifully, however, when he spends time in the sun. Unfortunately, that isn’t very often.
SPECIAL: none========================================
ILOVE: The Underworld, making people sick, death (especially from illness), the mourning of the dead’s loved ones, music, working out and other athletic activities
IHATE: Gods of stupid things like healing and cooking, people who just chatter on and on and really have nothing to say, people who get well after he smites them with disease. He usually targets them again, and much more forcefully.
DONTTELL: Jesse almost let his beloved daughter, Jessica, live. With what he was planning to do to Alessia, though, that wouldn’t have worked. Killing the family would also have been hard on Jessica, and furthermore, Jesse didn’t want to watch her and be reminded of what he had lost.
SCAREDOF: Falling in love again
WANTTO: Keep creating diseases that are baffling to doctors, not fall in love or have any more children
STRENGTHS: Rational, usually controlled, strong, cunning
WEAKNESSES: Evasive, obsessive, easily angered
TALENTS: Bettering himself and creating new diseases are Jesse’s favorite pastimes. He enjoys the challenge of staying ahead of medical research, especially as it becomes more and more advanced.
ABOUTME: Jesse is, in general, a serious and rational god. He believes that knowledge is power, and that intelligence conquers physical strength (not to say he isn’t strong in that area as well). He usually thinks through everything he does before he does it, unless he is very angry. When that happens, there is little he won’t do to satisfy his fury. He is even more dangerous in this state of mind, because he still carefully calculates the very best plan he can think of to bring the most pain.
Not all is serious and murderous about Jesse, however. He does have a soft side, one that likes to joke and have fun. It usually comes out the most around Persephone, since she is not as serious as Hades and Jesse is quite close to her. Those who are not so close to Jesse rarely, if ever, see this part of his personality. Jesse has also inherited his father’s charisma, and can be very charming, even romantic at times.========================================
BORNIN: The Underworld
LIVING IN: The Underworld
MOTHER: Persephone was a wonderful mother and cared very much for her son, revealing to him the more lovely things in life. While Jesse grew up to take more after his father, he does possess a hidden, light-hearted nature supposedly inherited from his mother. Jesse has very few soft spots, but he has one for Persephone.
FATHER: Hades is a harsh and unforgiving man, and Jesse has turned out more like his father than his mother. Because they are similar their personalities often clash, sometimes quite violently, but very deep down each loves the other.
SIBLINGS: Jesse is the only child of Hades and Persephone, but has half-siblings from each parent.

HISTORY: When spending only half of the year with your husband, it’s difficult to try for a baby. Persephone spent only the fall and winter seasons in the Underworld with Hades, and it was difficult to determine whether their efforts had been successful in that time. Especially since, in the case of Jesse, winter was nearly over before Persephone realized for certain that the attempt she and her husband had made in the autumn was not successful. The two of them tried again, about a month before Persephone was due back on Mount Olympus.
This time, they were successful. Persephone realized she was pregnant about a month after she returned to Mount Olympus. She sent Hades the news, as most of her pregnancy would occur away from her husband, and she was nearly due by the time that her journey to the Underworld was expected. Demeter fussed over her and tried to make her stay, and have the baby at Mount Olympus, but Hades demanded to see his wife for the scheduled time. Persephone agreed to return to the Underworld, as the seasons would change drastically if she did not go. Jesse was born about a month and a half after Persephone arrived in the Underworld, and is the only child thus far of Hades and Persephone.
Persephone took wonderful care of her baby boy, and Hades loved him as well, though he was reluctant to show it. Jesse traveled back and forth with his mother for the first few years of his life, but as he got older it was decided that he would trade off between his parents each year. During the first summer he spent with Hades, father and son realized the boy’s power to control disease. It was one of the few times in his life that Jesse would see a representation of the pride Hades had in his son.
Hades worked with Jesse, training him to use his power. Hades was a harsh and demanding teacher, but Jesse learned much from his father. He began to show more of his father in his personality as well, and grew up to be a relatively cold, hard, and controlled man, though his rage would often get the better of him.
When Jesse was only twenty years old, he spied a beautiful mortal woman named Annabelle Jackson. He wanted her for his own, but she was the young bride of a Mr. Timothy Jackson. The more Jesse watched the young woman, the more he wanted her, and so he bestowed upon Timothy the curse of scurvy. Annabelle watched her husband die while Jesse prepared himself to visit Earth, and appeared in Annabelle’s life just after her husband’s death. A bit of good listening and sympathy endeared Jesse to Annabelle and the young god had gotten exactly what he wanted. The two were happy together for some time before Annabelle revealed she was pregnant. Jesse was still very young, for a god, and was not at all ready to be a father. He was growing bored with Annabelle anyway, and burdened her with smallpox. It was enough to kill both Annabelle and the unborn child.
Jesse returned to the Underworld from his romantic adventure on Earth, and stayed there with his father for a few decades. Persephone would come to visit as usual, and while she was not particularly happy to hear what her son had been up to, she was not angry with him. Jesse spent a few more years in the Underworld, commuting with other gods on Mount Olympus from time to time (though the “my, how you’ve grown!” and the particularly happy gods in general were a great annoyance) and spent much of his time in the Fields of Punishment, making the souls sick and experimenting with his power. Medical technology on Earth was slight at this time, and Jesse took great advantage of the practically useless doctors. He wiped out families with cholera and cities with tuberculosis.
When he was about sixty, another beautiful maiden caught Jesse’s eye. Her name was Melody, and though she was only sixteen, she was old enough to be married. Jesse swooped back down to Earth and began to court her, and she got along with him quite well. However, her parents did not. Melody was from a very well-to-do family, and it was customary at the time for the parents to arrange marriages, as a sort of trade-off between families. As far as they knew, Jesse had no family.
Melody was in love with Jesse, though, and Jesse felt more strongly for her than he had for Annabelle. The two eloped and moved to another province, where they lived happily for two years before Melody got pregnant. Jesse was still wary of having children, but Melody was so pleased with both herself and Jesse that he reluctantly decided to stay with her. Melody, having no knowledge of Jesse’s battle with himself, proudly bore him a baby girl they named Victoria.
Victoria was a good enough child, but Jesse didn’t have much patience for children. He enjoyed hunting much more than he enjoyed being with his daughter, so Victoria was left in Melody’s care. As Victoria grew older, Jesse was more tolerant of her. He wasn’t getting bored with Melody, and it seemed that things would go well for a longer period of time than had been the case with Annabelle. When Victoria was five, Melody became pregnant again, and bore a son, Beau. For Jesse, it was back to square one.
When Beau was two, Melody’s parents found the family. They hounded Jesse mercilessly about his heritage and what his family owed them in exchange for their daughter. Between the two children and now Melody’s parents, Jesse could take no more. He flew back up to Olympus in frustration, and in a murderous rage set yellow fever upon the family he had left behind, as well as countless others, claiming thousands of lives.
With Melody, her parents, Victoria, and Beau now dead, Jesse was free to return to his true family.
Feeling much more at home in the Underworld, Jesse spent his time working hard to become the best that he could be. As a god he had a strong body already, but worked even harder to keep himself in top shape. Hades continued to train him rigorously, and as the medical field was beginning to expand, it was a full-time job for Jesse to continue to come up with new diseases and vectors for them, and stay ahead of the doctors.
The Underworld was a wonderful place, but mortals were so interesting. They had such little time to achieve what they wanted before Hades claimed them, and it made them do ridiculous things. Jesse realized this when he met Alessia, a beautiful Italian woman that instantly took his heart. Jesse was in love, for the first time, and courted Alessia charmingly until she agreed to marry him. Fortunately, her parents were not as opposed to the union as Melody’s had been.
This time, love made all the difference. Jesse was convinced he would spend the rest of his life on Earth with Alessia, and when she gave birth to his young daughter, Jessica, Jesse was thrilled. He loved his wife and baby daughter very much. By the time Jessica was fifteen, Alessia and Jesse had had four other children. Jesse was happy with his family and still very much in love with his wife, but it seemed Alessia had other ideas. She had begun seeing another man, and as Jesse grew more suspicious, she grew more evasive. Finally she came clean about the whole thing and told Jesse that she was taking the children and leaving him. Jesse was heartbroken, and more furious than ever. He kept ahold of himself, though, and allowed his wife to leave him. When the house was empty, he returned to Mount Olympus, where he destroyed his wife’s lover and each of their children with cancer, leaving Alessia alive but alone. She died a short time later, of natural causes.
Jesse was through with mortal women. He pushed himself back into his own self-improvement, using it as an escape from the loss he had suffered. Later, things began to go wrong for his father as a prophecy surfaced about the demigod children of Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon. Jesse did what he could to help his father, and it was one of the few times that they weren’t clashing over one thing or another. Hades left Jesse in charge of the Underworld while he and Nico and Persephone went to fight the Titans, and Jesse was not surprised that they had been defeated yet again. Jesse is remaining as he was before the second war with the Titans, not celibate but not getting into relationships either, and he is determined not to fall in love again. He has other things on his mind anyway, as quite a few of the demigod children are causing a bit of trouble for Zeus’s reputation in the Underworld, where it wasn’t fantastic to begin with.
