Long before the existence of mankind, a horrible battle raged through Thessaly. The lesser gods of Mount Olympus, angered by the tyrannical treatment they received from their father Cronus, rebelled against the ruling Titans and assaulted their stronghold on Mount Othrys. Zeus, the leader of the Olympians, threw down his father after a bitter battle and claimed Cronus' throne for himself. After imprisoning the Titans in the darkest pit of Tartarus Zeus split dominion over the heavens and the earth among his brothers and sisters. In time twelve Olympians became the principal gods of the earth and ruled their respective kingdoms with an iron fist. As men emerged into existence and lesser gods became more common, the Olympians would prove to be no better then the Titans.
The Olympians were often vindictive and cruel, taking what they pleased from mortals and gods alike. The Twelve spent much of their time in petty quarrels with each other and callously maneuvered men like pawns to frustrate the plans of their rivals. The wars and deaths stemming from simple arguments have taken their toll on the hearts of men and demigods alike, however neither were willing to face the pantheon in open rebellion until Zeus decided to ban these lesser gods from the hallowed halls of Mount Olympus. Four Protogenoi, ancient elementals that had existed before the Titans, took this opportunity to fan the flames of rebellion and together with some unlikely allies imprisoned Hades and freed the Titans from Tartarus. Now the stage is set for open war, the likes of which hasn't been seen in millennia. Will the Olympians retain their kingdoms, or will the pantheon crumble and a new one rise in it's place?
