ABOUTME:
He's just your average smart guy. He's been making straight As since he got into school, even with his suffering the things that usually plague demigods such as ADHD and dyslexia. He quotes movies for fun in regular conversation and tends to make references to things that people either find odd or have no idea what he's talking about. He's outgoing, but tends to not be as smooth or charming as he'd like. He tries to be friendly, though he thinks rather lowly of idiots and snobs. He hates arrogance and people who think too highly of themselves, though he has a bit of problem with that himself now and then. He enjoys more artistic things like attending plays, foreign films, art showings, museums, painting, reading, writing, cooking, and other more creative things. He finds himself naturally very good at learning things, though his pride can get out of hand with these things at times.========================================
BORNIN:
Hanover, New Hampshire
LIVING IN:
Brooklyn, New York
MOTHER:
Athena;; his birth mother is Athena, the virgin goddess of wisdom, handicrafts, defense, and strategic warfare. He respects his mother, but he doesn't know her very well.
Marcia McEntire;; the woman who he believed was his mother for a good part of his life, and still considers her a mother even knowing the truth.
FATHER:
Wesley Rawlins;; Landon's biological father. Landon gets along very well with his father and relates to him better than most people, though he lost a bit of respect for his dad when the truth came out about things and he begged Landon not to tell Marcia.
Clive McEntire;; his step father and Marcia's husband. Landon has no respect for this man at all.
SIBLINGS:
Tanner Rawlins;; Landon's older half brother. He tormented Landon a lot and Landon thinks he's an idiot, though he still loves him.
Brandon Rawlins;; his older brother who died when he was just a few weeks old. Landon basically had to replace Brandon after the car accident.
Chelsea McEntire;; Landon's younger half sister. He thinks she's annoying, but she can at least have an intellectual conversation, so he respects her a bit more than most people.
Shane McEntire;; Landon's younger half brother. He's young and adores Landon, so Landon of course loves him.
THEKIDS:
none
IMPORTANTPEEPS:
Christian Davek and Donovan Murphy;; he thought they were both arrogant assholes at first, which was true, but it was a trait that made him dislike the pair at first. After getting to know them a bit more, he's warmed up to them and has been "taken under their wing." He led such a strict and safe life that being with them has opened up new doors and he's enjoying the new experiences.
OTHERHALF:
Ashlee Kendrick;; his only girlfriend and his first love. He hates her for what she did to him, though some part of him still loves her.
THEPETS:
none
GOODMEMORY:
His best memory was probably the first time he got drunk. He had never done anything so "stupid" before in his life, and it was the first of a long list of new and exciting experiences that Christian Davek and Donovan Murphy opened him up to. He's had a lot of fun doing other things like sky diving, drag racing, going to strip clubs, and other things, but that remains the high light, his first night as the student of the two "masters."
BADMEMORY:
His worst memory was probably the day Ashlee broke up with him and told him the child wasn't his. Being so young, he was relieved that he wans't going to be a dad, but he loved Ashlee and was heartbroken and humiliated by what she had done to him. She had seduced him, not because she loved him and wanted to celebrate their relationship, but because she was already pregnant and wanted to hide the truth. He was disgusted with her and even more with himself for still loving her.
HISTORY:
Wesley Rawlins was a prestigious professor of English and journalism at Dartmouth University when he met the goddess Athena. The fact that he was married with a son didn't matter much to him...The relationship never became physical, as Athena was one of the three maiden goddesses. It was an affair of the mind and the heart. Wesley was upset when Athena left, but figured it was for the best. His wife, Marcia, was pregnant with their second child, after all.
On the day Wesley and Marcia's son, Brandon, was born, Athena brought Wesley their son together. Wesley was terrified and sent the boy to stay with his sister, Enid, for a while. Wesley wasn't sure what to do with his other son, only that he didn't want to ruin his marriage to Marcia. He thought long and hard about when and how to break the news to her, and if he should at all. He considered giving the boy up for adoption, but Wesley cared about him and saw so much promise in a son of Athena.
A week after Brandon was born, Wesley was at work and Marcia desperately needed to to get medicine for Brandon. He was only a week old and she was wary about bringing him out so soon, but he was sick and Marcia decided to go to the pharmacy. It began to rain when she got to the pharmacy and was raining harder the time she left and halfway home her car hydroplaned and she panicked, trying to regain control of the car, but couldn't do anything to stop from hitting another car and was almost immediately hit by the one behind her. Baby Brandon Rawlins died and Marcia Rawlins was in a coma. Horrified by the loss of his son and the seeming loss of his wife, Wesley took Landon from his sister and agreed to raise him.
Tanner, having not been told that Brandon had died, mistook Landon for Brandon, which gave Wesley an idea. He told his son that they changed his brother's name. He figured when Marcia woke up it would devastate her to learn her son had died and so for the sake of his wife and his marriage, he went along with the idea. Of course, there was the problem of everyone else who knew, but Wesley had a plan. It took a lot, but he quit his job at Dartmouth and took a position at Columbia University in New York City and spent a lot of time and money convincing workers to move his wife's comatose body to a hospital in New York. They were away from anyone and anything that might tell her otherwise, and two months later Marcia woke up. She happily believed that Landon was Brandon and accepted Wesley's lie that Marcia had the name wrong.
Having her son claimed as someone else's, however, did not please Athena. She had thought Wesley worthy of reproducing with, and yet he insulted her this way! Athena cursed him, causing him to screw up a bit with his lessons at Columbia and he was often followed by owls and snakes, two of the symbols of Athena. He became paranoid, and even more so when their house became infested with spiders, though this had more to do with Landon than Wesley, though both father and son were terrified of them. Marcia proclaimed him to be paranoid and accused him of letting his irrational behavior affect their son with Landon's fear of spiders.
The first few years of his life had been nice and calm with Wesley and Marcia, but the more Athena's curse held on Wesley, the more their marriage fell apart into constant fighting. Landon was only four when Marcia filed for divorce. Tanner and Landon were taken from their father to live in a small apartment with Marcia only to see their dad every other weekend for a year before they changed the custody agreement into spending one week with Marcia and one week with Wesley. Landon loved his mom, but he felt more comfortable around his dad and much preferred being at Wesley's house. When it came to reading, things were hard for Landon who was diagnosed with dyslexia early on and while Marcia gave up on trying, Wesley worked hard to help Landon fight it and taught him how to read.
The time he was in school, despite his dyslexia, he could read rather well and while he wasn't the best reader, he was the best student. Right from the start he made straight As. Landon loved school and he loved learning, much to the amusement of his brother and his classmates. The ADHD he was later diagnosed with complicated matters more, but even as a child Landon was very determined and worked very hard to maintain his good grades.
When Landon was seven, Marcia remarried to a man named Clive McEntire. The guy seemed nice enough, though he felt uncomfortable living with Marcia's children from another man. After only a few months, the custody agreement was rearranged so that Marcia only saw Tanner and Landon every other weekend while Wesley gained primary custody of the boys. Marcia was sad and while Landon was glad to be around his father more, it did hurt his feelings that Marcia was letting them go. When they were over on weekends, Tanner did his best to get along with Clive and impress him with his basketball skills while Landon hated the man and ignored him most of the time, hating him for turning Marcia against him.
The following year, Marcia had a baby girl with Clive that they named Chelsea. Landon hated her, too. But Chelsea was the least of eight year old Landon's worries. Students and teachers at school became even bigger bullies and after hearing enough stories from Landon, Wesley figured he knew what it was about. He contacted Camp Half Blood and sat down to explain to Landon what he was, something Landon didn't fully believe until he was shown a video at Camp Half Blood and seeing the centaur Chiron and the nymphs and satyrs and other creatures. He was told as a child of Athena, he had been claimed at birth, and was immediately put in a cabin with his siblings.
He was given the choice to stay for the summer or all year, and as much fun as he had, Landon missed school and returned the following year for a new semester at a new school. It was the same every year, with the complications monsters posed, but for him they weren't as much as a problem as they were for others, at least from the stories he heard. In elementary school, Landon won tons of spelling bees and in junior high he joined a lot of academic-type clubs which continued on in high school. He joined three foreign language groups, the chess club, the AV club, the Speech and Debate team, business clubs, poetry clubs, book clubs, and all sorts of other things to keep his mind stimulated. He always managed to make time for his family and midway through freshman year, a girlfriend. Her name was Ashlee, one of the better speakers in the Speech and Debate team. She was one of the few high school girls Landon respected.
Their romance was a sweet and calm one. The two rarely fought, unless they involved themselves in a few political debates or arguing over their opinions on a book or some matter. Never anything serious, never anything interesting, but Landon was smitten. Midway through sophomore year, Ashlee became obsessed with the idea of sex and Landon gave in because he loved her and thought she loved him. A few months later, Ashlee told him she was pregnant. Their parents were outraged, but agreed to calmly discuss the matter which more often than not consisted of their parents fighting over the phone. Eventually things cooled off and Landon was scared, but prepared to start this family with Ashlee and got a part time job to buy a ring so he could propose to Ashlee, even if they were young. If they could have a child together, they could get married.
Ashlee was six months pregnant when Chase Beaumont broke up with Crystal Fusell. Ashlee hastily broke up with Landon and apologized profusely, explaining that Chase was really the father of her child and she had cheated on Landon because she was bored. She wanted him to think he was the father because Chase had chickened out. Before breaking up with Crystal, though, Chase had apologized and started working things out with Ashlee, who happily agreed. Landon was hurt and angry and humiliated. He was relieved to not have to care for a child, but he really had loved Ashlee. He decided to get revenge, praying to Aphrodite and Eros and hoping and praying that Chase would go back to Crystal and leave Ashlee as hurt as he had been.
His prayers were answered and Landon agreed to do anything to repay the gods. Chase dumped Ashlee and went back to Crystal and Ashlee tried to crawl back to Landon, but he refused, even if some small part of him wanted to take her back. It was hard being around her, though, so his father agreed to let him transfer schools. He started this year off at Xavier High School, the home of too many rich snobs who thought they owned the world. Landon disliked the majority of them, especially the arrogant and womanizing Christian Davek and Donovan Murphy. They were annoying, but they ended up being forced into a group project in English class and eventually they grew on him and he grew on them. The pair agreed to take on Landon as their own project and Landon didn't mind. His safe little world was turned upside down with these two and honestly he's enjoying every moment of it.========================================
