MYEYES: Derek’s eyes are brown, almost the same color as his hair, but a bit lighter. They can appear to be darker or lighter depending on things like the lighting and his mood.
MYFACE: Derek has a strong jaw and chin, and a broad forehead. His cheekbones are well-defined, as well. His lips are neither full nor thin, and they are well-shaped. Derek shaves regularly to keep his jaw smooth. He has a widow’s peak that dips his hairline down in the middle of his forehead. His teeth are a bit on the large side, as both a human and a wolf.
MYBODY: Derek’s body weight is mostly made up of muscle. He has a somewhat large and very solid build, with thick muscles to shape his body. He is very athletic, even for a lycanthrope. His skin is tanned from spending so much time outside and in the sun. As a wolf, Derek is large and still quite muscular. He has chocolate-colored fur, the color of his human hair.

ABOUTME: Derek has a complex and twisted personality. On a good day, he is kind and strong and mature. He always takes responsibility for his actions, no matter how awful they may have been. He can be a very safe person to be around, until his temper gets away from him. It doesn’t take much to set Derek off. Once he is angry, he becomes violently so, always looking for a fight with the person who angered him. Even with his precious on-and-off girlfriend, Kayla, Derek borderlines on being physically abusive. He is possessive of her and of everything else that is his. Derek hates this side of himself and does his best to suppress it, though his efforts are not always successful. He is a determined young man who is striving to make himself a better person for both Kayla and himself.========================================

GOODMEMORY: Derek’s best memory was the day he realized he was in love with Kayla. He wasn’t sure how to tell her how he felt, so he sent one of the young children in the pack to tell her excitedly instead. Watching her face was priceless.
BADMEMORY: Two terrible memories stand out in Derek’s mind. The first is the first day his mother hit him, after he was being naughty in a store. He was almost four at the time. She promised him a spanking when they got home, but instead of just swatting his bottom, she hit him all over with the paddle. Derek had never been more terrified.
The second worst memory that Derek has is when he woke up to the sound of his sister’s screaming, and saw a huge wolf tearing her to shreds. He was bitten by the wolf in frantic efforts to get him off of Patricia, but it was too late. Derek believes that if he had been awake, he and Patricia both could have been spared.
HISTORY: David Howell and Samantha McPherson were high school sweethearts. They weren’t the most popular kids in school, but everyone knew them because of how close they were. They had been dating since their sophomore year, and had only broken up once during that time. David knew that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Samantha, and he concluded his valedictorian speech by asking her to marry him.
They were married that summer, and moved away from their families in southern Canada to start their own life in the British Columbian territories along the western coast of the country. They settled down in Savona, where David was almost immediately snapped up by a successful computer engineering company. It was hard work, but David was proud of what he was doing, as was Samantha. He was away quite a bit, but Samantha didn’t mind so much because of how proud of him she was.
Things changed when Samantha learned she was pregnant. She and David had talked before about having children, but the conversations always gave the feel that children were farther off down the line. She told David hesitantly, and his reaction was hard to read. He didn’t seem very happy or upset, and he treated her very much the same throughout her pregnancy. When their son Derek was born, David was very casual and not very excited about the whole thing, and it made it difficult for Samantha to be excited for the new arrival as well. It was as if Derek was simply something to be integrated into their daily routines.
As Derek grew, David became more distant, from both his son and his wife. Samantha tried everything to bring him back, but he was simply slipping away. By the time Derek was nearly four, Samantha could take no more. She took it out on her son after he had disobeyed her at the store one day, hitting him all over with the paddle that she used for spanking him. Derek was terrified and began avoiding his mother, though that only made her angrier. She was sugary sweet to him when David was home, but she would get mean whenever David left. Derek feared and hated her, but any attempts to tell his father what was happening would only result in David telling him he was making everything up, and that Samantha would never hit him or hurt him on purpose. Derek still tried multiple times to tell his father what was happening, but David always brushed it off. If Samantha overheard, Derek would get it good the next time his father left. If she didn’t, she’d treat him as normal, and Derek knew his father didn’t even care enough to mention it to her.
When Derek was seven, Samantha became pregnant again. She told David casually over dinner, and received the same reaction as she had with Derek. When Patricia was born, there was no big deal to be made. Derek liked his sister because Samantha would never hit him in front of her, so he stayed near her whenever he could. He hoped that Samantha wouldn’t be abusive towards Patricia, and that if Derek just stayed by her she might stop abusing him, too. Unfortunately, Patricia was only two when Samantha started in on her.
Patricia and Derek’s childhood was a nightmare as long as David wasn’t around. One of Samantha’s favorite ways to torture her children was to put them outside and lock all the doors, and only let them in just before David came home. When Derek was fifteen and Patricia was eight, she brought home a report card with a D in Spanish. Samantha was horribly angry and slapped her in front of David. She was shocked when she realized what she had done, but to her surprise and to Derek’s horror, David didn’t say a word to her. That was when Derek knew that it was time for he and Patricia to come through on their promise to one another – that they would both get out of this house.
They packed supplies in their backpacks the next day, but after the bus reached the school, the two children took off. They went into the woods, where they knew how to survive after being locked out so many times. Derek followed the narrow, little-used roads, hoping that they would reach another town nearby. At night, they would go into the woods to sleep, in case a police car or someone came by and found them.
On the third night away, Derek woke up to the sound of Patricia’s terrible screaming. A colossal wolf was tearing her apart. Derek screamed with rage and pulled out his stolen pistol, shooting at the wolf to no avail. The wolf turned on him and sunk its teeth into his leg, shaking him harshly. Just then there was a long howl in the distance, and something seemed to snap inside of the wolf. He dropped Derek immediately and whimpered before turning and running away. Derek dragged himself to his sister’s side, but it was too late for her. She was dead.
Derek refused to leave her body, and was too hurt to do much anyway. He was starving when Garvin Grey and the rest of his pack found him. They took care of him and brought him into their pack after realizing that he was a lycanthrope now. Garvin taught Derek everything he needed to know about what he had become. At first, Derek hated that he had been turned into one of those horrible beasts that had killed his sister. After a short while, though, Derek was glad to be a lycanthrope because it meant that he was free of his mother forever.
A few years ago, the pack rescued a young girl from a Cyclopes, a girl named Kayla Crooks. She was badly hurt, and Derek took it upon himself to take care of her. The two of them fell in love, and Derek was happy with her for a short while, but began to be afraid that he would fail Kayla as he had failed Patricia. His fears were realized when he lost his temper with her and hit her, just as his mother had done to him. Derek apologized and the two got back together. Derek was more afraid than ever of hurting Kayla, so he began to cheat on her in an effort to detach himself. It didn’t make much sense, and it didn’t work anyway. Kayla found out, though, and broke up with him. She turned her attentions to a man named Mitch, whom Derek quickly set straight about who Kayla really belonged to. He and Kayla had their most explosive fight ever after that, but ended up together again. Their relationship has been on and off over the past five years or so, but they’ve only broken up about three times. Just recently, Kayla broke up with Derek a fourth time, and he’s been angry and miserable ever since.========================================
