ABOUTME: Erik is a kind and compassionate person, who, like his father, keeps his softer side hidden beneath a tough and no-nonsense exterior. His eyes are cold and hard to read, and his face is stern and hard, though the man underneath is hardly so bad. He is a determined and independent man, even though he is a part of a pack and is very loyal to them. He is protective of the things he loves, as well. Of course, Erik is not without faults. Besides coming across initially as hard and unfeeling, Erik is terribly stubborn. He doesn’t like to back down from anything, even if it would probably be in his best interest.
Before he became a lycanthrope, Erik was a demigod. His mother is Nyx, the goddess of the night, and as such Erik has received a few special traits from her. For instance, he is the most active and the strongest at nighttime. He is also unusually good at being able to see things in the dark. Erik feels most at home in the darkness, and much prefers it to the light.
Erik has always been athletic, and is even more so now that he has transformed into a lycanthrope. He loves to run and is very quick and agile. He can jump farther than almost anyone else in his pack, even in human form, which was a talent he possessed before being bitten by his alpha, a talent that made him top choice on the track team in school. Since joining the pack, Garvin has also taught Erik skills like fighting and archery and fencing, all which he has picked up very quickly. Other than being good at athletics, Erik also loves to read. Fantasy novels are his favorite, as are old folktales and lore. He loves telling stories as much as he loves hearing them, and has become sort of the resident “storyteller” of his pack despite his young age.========================================
BORNIN: Staten Island, NY
LIVING IN: Forest – wherever his pack currently is
MOTHER: Nyx – Erik’s mother is the goddess of the night, and he respects her immensely and is very grateful to her for the powers she has given him. He hasn’t met her yet, but wants to desperately.
FATHER: Garvin Grey – Erik has no idea that this man is his father. All he knows is that Garvin bit him one day and turned him into a lycan, and the man looked familiar somehow, as though Erik had seen him before, though he couldn’t place it. He was bitter towards Garvin for a while, but has learned much from him and now sees him as a second father figure.
SIBLINGS:
Miranda Holcombe – Erik’s mortal half-sister, whom he found a bit annoying. Deep down, though, he loved her and stood up for her when she needed him.
THEKIDS: none
IMPORTANTPEEPS:
Calvin Holcombe – This is the man who raised Erik, and whom Erik believes to be his real father. He was an honorable man and Erik loved and respected him.
Grace Holcombe – A beautiful brunette woman whom Erik believed to be his mother until he was about ten, when his father told him the truth about his heritage. Erik still loved Grace, though, and still sees her as a mother to him. He is also very grateful to her for raising him as her own son, even though she knew where he came from.
OTHERHALF: none
THEPETS: Erik always wanted a malamute, because he feels close to dogs, especially the more wolflike ones. But he also figured that would be kind of weird.
GOODMEMORY: Erik’s best memory was probably that of his first summer at Camp Half-Blood, when the goddess Nyx claimed him as her son. Erik researched her immediately, finding every scrap of information possible, and each new thing he learned made him more and more proud to be her son. He adores Nyx and hopes that she is pleased with him, and wants very much to meet her one day.
BADMEMORY: Erik’s worst memory was when he was walking through the woods near the outskirts of Camp Half-Blood property, and a man seized him and dragged him away and bit him. After Erik had recovered, he learned that the familiar-looking man’s name was Garvin, and that he had made Erik into a lycanthrope, or werewolf. Erik was never to return to his old life, and would instead live out the rest of his days with Garvin’s pack. Erik was furious as well as depressed for the first few years that he spent with the other lycans.
HISTORY: When the goddess Nyx came to Earth for some fun in the spring of 1993, two men caught her eye. One was a man named Garvin Grey, whom she had a short affair with, and whose company she enjoyed very much. After she had had her fun, she left, as goddesses do. The foolish man went into the forest looking for her, and got himself bitten and transformed into a lycanthrope. It was only just before this happened that Nyx realized she was pregnant with a child who was undoubtedly Garvin’s. She informed the man of her pregnancy, but despite his protests would not allow him to take the baby once it was born. She didn’t trust him enough and instead turned her attention to another man, one Calvin Holcombe. He was a good man whom she trusted and respected, but was not attracted to. Nyx only slept with him a couple of times, enough to make him believe that the child she was carrying was his own.
On the night December 21, 1993, Nyx gave birth to a son. She dropped him off with Calvin, whom had found another love in her absence and was about to be married. His fiancée, Grace, was horrified that he had fathered a child. Calvin was able to calm her down, though, explaining that all of this had happened before he had even met her, and that it wasn’t the child’s fault. Besides, the young boy had nowhere else to go. Grace saw his reasoning and hesitantly agreed with him, and they were married soon after.
The boy, whom they named Erik, grew up in a happy household. He was a bit odd – despite having dyslexia and ADHD, he hated the mornings and was the most active at night. He just felt better during the nighttime, and since his parents knew why they did their best to raise him around his body’s odd schedule. When Erik was six, Grace gave birth to a baby girl whom she and Calvin named Miranda, and Erik was a big brother.
Despite being dyslexic, Erik did well in school because he loved to read. Fantasy novels and old legends and lore were his favorite, so of course he was attracted to Greek mythology. When he was ten, his parents sat him down and explained to him who his mother was, and that he would need to attend Camp Half-Blood in the summer. Erik was a bit nervous – he had always been a bit of a loner at school for enjoying such fantastical realms and archaic stories, but he decided that being around other children like him might not be so bad. Besides, he didn’t really have a choice. The first summer at Camp Half-Blood, Erik was claimed my his true mother, Nyx. He was unbelievably excited and read up on her as much as he could, only growing more and more proud to be called her son. He made it his life’s ambition to make his mother proud. He knew now why he loved the night so much, and why he felt so much stronger and more alive during that time. He also knew why he could see well in the darkness without a light, and actually preferred darkness to daylight.
Of course, Erik showed traits from his true father, as well. He was an athletic boy who loved to run, and in school he was one of the best on the track team. Erik didn’t know that his father, Garvin, had been watching him. In the summer after he turned thirteen, just beginning to morph from a boy to a man, Erik was kidnapped during a walk through the woods surrounding Camp Half-Blood. His kidnapper looked a bit familiar, though Erik had little time to think about that. The man bit him, and explained what was happening as Erik transformed into a lycanthrope. He was a part of Garvin’s pack now, and could never go back to his family or the life that he knew and loved.
Erik was furious for a while, and lashed out at Garvin in his anger. He ostracized himself from the rest of the pack, following them around but making sure they knew he would rather be anywhere else. He felt more like a freak than he had ever felt in his entire life. He felt like a horrible monster. But there was nothing that Erik could do to change what he had become, and eventually he began to warm up to the idea. Garvin was a smart and loyal man beneath his stern exterior, and he taught Erik how to fight and fence and shoot an arrow. Eventually, Erik began to look up to the man as not only his alpha, but as a second father figure. He began to warm up to the rest of the pack as well.
There are still times when Erik misses his family, and he knows they must be worried about him. Despite knowing that he can never go back and fearing that if he did, they would realize what he is – Erik can’t help but hope to see them again someday, just to let them know that he’s all right. He also still wants to meet his mother more than anything, and wonders if she still claims him as her own despite what he has become. For now, though, no answers are to be found in the nameless forest through which Garvin leads their pack.========================================
