Her foot tapped impatiently on the linoleum floor of the bathroom. Her arms were folded tightly over her chest, her entire body tense, as if ready to defend itself against attack. Her jaw was clenched and her normally vivid emerald eyes had darkened into a very hostile dark jade green. She hardly noticed her own nails digging deeply into her flesh and she certainly didn’t know she’d been glaring at the same tacky design on the old wallpaper for exactly four and a half minutes. She hardly noticed that aside from the harsh tapping of her foot, her body hadn’t moved since she placed the stupid stick on the counter. There was no emotion aside from irritation born of her impatience and no thoughts at all but a silent, repeated prayer over and over again ”One line, one line, one line, one line…” Hera and Artemis had both tormented her enough by forcing her to have Christian and Azrael, so hopefully they would show some compassion and let this just be a false alarm.
Finally the alarm on her phone rang loudly, echoing in the otherwise silent bathroom. Without glancing away from the hideous floral design, she grabbed her phone from the counter and turned off the alarm. She then slid her phone easily back into her pocket and licked her lips. She had been waiting for what felt like years, but in reality was only five minutes. As anxious as she had been for those five minutes to be up, now that they were she dreaded actually looking at the thing. Swallowing hard she slowly unwound her arms and stopped tapping her foot, pressing herself off of the counter and turning towards the stupid stick. A pregnancy test. Her eye twitched at the sight of it and she glanced harshly into her reflection. She didn’t look pregnant and she sure as hell hoped she was wrong. It wasn’t like there had been any real signs, just… A feeling. A very, very bad feeling. Taking one last deep breath she turned her gaze back towards the test and plucked it up with two fingers and turned it over.
Her heart dropped.
Two lines.
Slowly she began shaking her head, short and sharp movements as her vision blurred. With a shaking hand she picked up the box of the test and double checked to make sure what result meant what. Everything seemed frozen, sitting on edge as if waiting for something to pull them back or push them in. She glanced back and forth from the box to the test several times, trying to clarify what it meant and make sure, beyond a doubt, that it was right. She continued shaking her head, hardly realizing she was doing much of anything, even when her temples began throbbing and her neck became sore. Two lines meant pregnant. But she couldn’t be pregnant. She despised children! It was bad enough she had to deal with children she hated who were demigods. She had an excuse for not seeing them often. But if she was pregnant…Well the only possible fathers were gods, and really she was certain if it was anyone, it was Jesse. Which meant she’d give birth to a full blown god or goddess. Which meant she’d have no reason not to take care of it and if she wanted support, she’d have to actually be there for it and stuff…
Eventually it began to sink in and it was not good. In place of that horror and anxiety came fury. Her fists clenched around the test and the box as she felt that heat of anger bubble up inside of her. Her teeth chattered for a few moments and she just shook gently for a little bit before finally she sucked in a deep breath and out come a very long, very loud scream of horror and wrath. She screamed for as long as the breath was there and as loud as her voice would let her. As the scream slowly came to its end she growled and threw the box into the opposite wall, watching it fall into the bathtub and threw the actual test the other direction, slamming against the door and bouncing back, landing on the floor and skidding across it until it hit the toilet. She was seething. She glared at the test and her head snapped towards the door as she heard the front door below open. Danna growled and marched out of the bathroom and downstairs.
Her mind was filled with jumbled, uncertain thoughts. All she could do was feel this overwhelming anger and terror. She moved with purpose, standing tall and strong as she sucked in deep, hard breaths. They did nothing to calm her down. As she reached the bottom of the staircase she moved slowly forward, heart pounding harshly in her chest. She moved until she saw who it was, and she had known who it was all along. Once she confirmed it she glared at him, at Jesse, picking up a barstool that still hadn’t been placed in the kitchen yet and glared at him. “What…the….FUCK…ARE YOU DOING HERE?!” she screamed, picking up the bar stool and throwing it at him.
She was furious. And it was all his fault. He had gone and knocked her up. He had to go be an idiot and ruin everything. He knew she hated kids! But noooo he had to go give her one anything. “I HATE you…Do you know that?! I…HATE…YOU! I HATE YOU!” she screamed, picking up a picture frame holding Christian and Azrael’s picture and hurled it at him, immediately looking around for other things to throw at him.

The fact that it was winter didn't matter much, because what was in the glass wasn't any old drink. It was a mix of ambrosia and nectar, a drink from the gods, and Jesse had brought it along today for Danna. They had both just arrived on Earth, so he doubted she missed the food yet, but that was all right. She could save it for later if she wanted, Jesse didn't care. He took a small sip as he stepped onto the porch, fishing in his pocket for his key.
As he stepped into the house, he set the glass down and turned to close the door. "Hey babe," he called as he heard her coming down the stairs. He shrugged off his coat and just managed to hang it near the door before all hell broke loose.
A barstool flew through the air, and it would have slammed Jesse full on the head if he hadn't raised a hand just in time to deflect the attack. Danna screamed at him, demanding to know what the fuck he was doing here, and Jesse could barely even form a thought. She had known he was coming... she had invited him herself. This was her house, so Jesse didn't exactly hang out around here when Danna was away. But Earth was a sort of neutral ground for them to meet and be together without having to worry about who was watching, as well as a torture chamber and a place to spend time with Danna's two children. She didn't want them, granted, but she needed them as allies, so she and Jesse both pretended to take an interest in their lives. This was just supposed to be a Manhattan trip like any other, and Jesse had no idea where all of this was coming from.
"Danna, what -" was as far as he got before he had to duck again, a picture frame shattering against the door over his head. Danna screamed how much she hated him, her eyes wild as she whipped around, searching for something else to throw at him, no doubt. Jesse wasn't really sure what to do. He ran through everything he had done recently in his mind, but he couldn't think of anything he had done wrong, anything that would upset her... Things had been pretty normal lately, and Jesse had no idea what was going on.
"Danna, what the hell is going on?" he asked her, taking a tentative step forward, his entire body tense and ready to jump out of the way of another attack.

She had two children. Christian Davek and Azrael Vulcan. They had only been born on the orders of Hera and Artemis, who didn’t want her having abortions or miscarriages or anything of the such. Danna had claimed them a few weeks ago, sure. She played nice with them and pretended to be a good mommy dear. But that didn’t mean her heart had changed on the subject of children. She still hated them and still wanted nothing to do with them, but here she was…Pregnant. And unlike the others she’d be stuck with this one for a while. On the plus side, it gave her yet another soldier to her army, but she didn’t want to have to take care of it or raise it or be anywhere near it or anything! Pregnancy was torture! Nine months of sickness and pains and strange cravings and having it move and kick inside of you. Then after all of that you had to go through several hours of very intense pain. All to produce a small demon spawn that would make your life a living hell until it could take care of itself, and even then it made life miserable until it was old enough to get away from you.
Here she was, though. Having another fucking child. And just as luck would have it, the father of said child was here. Honestly, it could be the child of several different people. Well honestly just a handful, as most of her lovers the past few weeks had been female. There was Morpheus, Erebus, and Himeros. But Jesse was her most frequent lover and if it was anyone, it was more than likely him. And since he was here, he was being punished. Poor oblivious Jesse was doing nothing but having things thrown at his head, but it was hard to feel sympathy for the man who knocked her up. Grabbing the throw pillows, she threw those at him…Not enough damage, but it gave her something to do with herself. She spun around and grabbed two heavy candle holders (long candles in place) and threw them at his head one at a time. Stupid Jesse and his stupid sperm. She grabbed two more candle holders and threw them at him, too. She was pissed, and getting some of that released by physical means made her feel better, but it wasn’t calming things down…It wasn’t enough for her to stop, but enough of a relief to encourage more of it.
Hearing Jesse’s question, she grabbed the television remote control and held it, prepared to throw, but paused long enough to laugh bitterly. “You wanna know what the hell is going on?!” she demanded, laughing manically as she threw the remote at him before picking up a dictionary. “I’M THROWING THINGS AT YOU, JESSE, THAT’S WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!” she screamed, grinning harshly and laughing again as she threw the dictionary at him and went to grab a lamp. “And do you wanna know why I’m throwing things at you, Jesse?” she asked, throwing the lamp at his head before picking up the side table it had been resting on. “Because you and your infected dick!” she snapped, tossing the side table at him, as well. “KNOCKED ME UP!”

It was definitely not the sort of welcome he had been expecting when he arrived in Manhattan this morning. He was beginning to think it was a better idea to have just stayed home. It felt like things were being thrown at him from every possible direction, but really it was only one person doing the throwing. If it had been anyone but Danna, Jesse wouldn't have believed that someone her size was even capable of this. But she was strong, and like him, she had her father's temper. Plus, she had had more physical training than he had, and right now she seemed intent on killing him. It was all he could do just to keep on his toes and dodge it all. He had been doing a bit of his own training lately, and it was coming in handy right now for sure. Of course, he couldn't duck away from everything, and Jesse hissed in pain as a candlestick hit him directly above his left eye, making a small cut in his forehead that didn't accurately portray the pain he felt at all. He would probably have a lump up there the size of a golf ball. Wasn't there some idiot game mortals played, Clue, where a candlestick was a lethal weapon?
Jesse swung his arm in front of him, knocking another flying candle holder out of the air. Another whizzed past his ear, and then Danna was all out of candles and had to find something else. She had settled on the TV remote when she, fortunately, decided to clue him on on what was going on. It would have been difficult to pick out what she was saying as he bobbed and weaved, moving counter to her and ducking out of the way of various objects, if she hadn't been screaming at the top of her lungs. She flung the remote at him, a dictionary, a lamp which shattered against the wall exactly where his head had been just seconds before. All the while she shrieked in rage, and as he leaped aside to avoid an end table, he finally realized what was going on.
"You're pregnant?!" he asked her in horror. It all made sense now. It had to be his, a thought that would have been comforting, save for the throbbing ache in his skull. Or at least, Danna was convinced it was his, and that was enough for both of them. He was going to be a father, again, to a full-blown god. It would be Danna's child, but again, that fact was only mildly comforting. They would have to take care of this thing. There was no killing the mother before the kid was born, giving it cancer or malaria or yellow fever when it got older, none of that. It wouldn't do any good anyway. It would be immortal.
They were royally fucked.
"Wait, wait wait," Jesse said, holding up his hands while he tried to think of a way out of this. "Where's the test? What brand is it? Did you wait long enough?" Anything and everything that could have been mistaken, they had to check it all. As soon as she quit pelting him with furniture, that is. Double-check it all, and just hope for a miracle.

Stupid men. Stupid Sivious. Stupid Tony. Stupid Jesse. There was certainly nothing, at this point, that was going to calm her down. Not for a while. She could remember being so infuriated while carrying Christian, aided only by the equal anger of her lover, Sivious Davek. He hadn’t wanted kids any more than she did and had, in fact, brought up the idea of abortion (something Danna had never, at that point, heard of). With Tony there had still been irritation, but she had been through it before and Tony had seemed happy with the idea of a child, so she hadn’t reacted nearly so bad. This, though? She didn’t want kids, Jesse didn’t want kids, and she already had two and was actually interacting with them both! What more did they want from her?! Oh how she hated them. They were trying to spite her. Aside from knowing, of course, that no one cared about her that much, it made her somewhat feel better to have someone to blame for the whole situation. She could blame Hera and Artemis, paranoid that they were out to get her…And she could blame Jesse who had knocked her up. It wasn’t an accident, it was a conspiracy.
Danna continued throwing things at Jesse, the only person she could actually attack. She was running out of things to throw…She could try for heavier stuff, like maybe the recliner or the coffee table or something. There was the DVD player…That could be easily replaced. She shot forward and unplugged it and held it up, pausing as Jesse spoke again. “No. I said that because I THOUGHT IT WAS FUNNY!” she snapped, throwing the DVD player at him. “You dumb ass, of course I’m PREGNANT! AND IT’S ALL YOUR FUCKING FAULT!” she screamed, pulling more picture frames off of the wall, books from the book shelf, and even DVDs and threw them at him, as hard and as fast as she could. She growled and raked her fingers through her hair, turning around and looking for more things to toss at him. She wanted to do some damage, and it’s not like he would die…He was a god, an immortal, and the most it would do was leave him sore for the day. It was relieving, though, to be able to do something.
Jesse went on and Danna snorted. “What the hell would you know how reliable certain brands are? At any rate, I asked the clerk for the best and most reliable and furthermore, most pregnancy tests are pretty damn accurate. And yes I waited the right amount of time. If I didn’t, there probably wouldn’t be any lines or just one or something! I double and triple checked everything! The time, the results, how to do it! I made sure, Jesse!” she snapped, marching into the kitchen and pulling open drawers and cabinets, grabbing knives and pots and pans, putting the knives in the pots and carrying them out into the living room, picking up a pan and throwing it at him. “This is revenge, isn’t it? ‘Oooh she cheated on me, I’M GONNA GET HER PREGNANT!’” she shouted, ignoring the knives now and just throwing the whole pile of junk at once at him. “You, Jesse, are a complete and utter ASSHOLE!”

Jesse had never seen anyone, except for his father, go so entirely insane. Well, there was Danna's father, too. But none of those experiences had been like this one. Their fury hadn't been directed at him, for one. And for another, this was the love of his life, screaming at him and blaming him and trying to kill him, Jesse was sure. It wasn't possible, but she was going to give it her best shot. At least, that was how it seemed to him. He was definitely putting a fertility curse on himself after this. Kids had been awful enough before, but this was ridiculous.
In the next instant, he was being pelted with more pictures, books, DVDs, anything Danna could get her hands on. He did his best to dodge and protect his face, but things still smashed into him. There was just no way he could dodge it all. He did the best he could, though, Danna's shrieks still finding their way into his jumbled brain.
Jesse jumped out of the pile of debris that had accumulated around him, trying desperately to think of what to do while Danna growled and ran her fingers through her hair, spinning while she looked for something else to throw at him. She stormed into the kitchen, a whole bunch of clanging and crashing doing absolutely nothing to drown out her screams. She had made sure of everything, something Jesse had already known, with a sinking feeling. If Danna had made sure of everything, then this was really happening. Jesse was going to be a father again.
He had never been one of those parental types. In fact, the more children Jesse had had, the more he had hated them. He had only ever really loved the children he had with Alessia. He loved Danna more than he had ever even thought to love Alessia, but he did not want to sire her children, the main reason being that she didn't want them. At all. That much had been clear even before she had learned she was pregnant and gone crazy. He was going to be a father, she was going to be a mother, and this new little brat was going to ruin everything.
Danna came stomping back in, whipping a pan at Jesse that hurt against his hand when he tried to deflect it. She had a whole bunch of other kitchen utensils piled up in the pan in her hand, and she threw the whole thing at him, still screaming and blaming him for everything. She seemed to think he had done this on purpose, as punishment for cheating on him or something. He hissed in pain as one of the knives nicked his upper arm, making a clean tear in both his shirt sleeve and his skin.
"Danna, that's ridiculous, and you know it!" he retorted, unsure what to do but to fight her with logic. It probably wouldn't work under these circumstances, but Jesse didn't know what else to do.
"Why the hell would I do that to you?! I didn't choose to make you pregnant! Even if I could do that, why would I do that to you or to me?! You never wanted kids, and I never wanted kids, and I still don't, you know that!" he yelled over the sounds of banging and smashing and crashing. This was harder on Danna, for sure, but it was no picnic for Jesse, either. Especially not now. Why would he knock her up on purpose? It was not only impossible, it was preposterous. She had to at least see that.

Ridiculous. Her eyes flashed as the word left his mouth and she paused for a moment. He thought she was ridiculous. “Ridiculous? Do you know what’s ridiculous, Jesse? I’M PREGNANT!” she snapped, as if she still couldn’t quite comprehend it. She growled and shook her head. “And you don’t understand, despite the fact that you think you do! You’ve never been pregnant! You’ve got about nine more months of this, baby!” she snapped, flipping over her coffee table and spinning around again. She swore her father had to be around…Only Ares could inspire such unnecessary anger. She knew she was being stupid and this wasn’t helping much, but it made her feel better…She enjoyed flipping out. It was sad that poor Jesse was on the other end of it, but if he hadn’t gone and knocked her up there wouldn’t be a problem.
Jesse was the one making sense, but Danna wasn’t about to admit that just yet. “Why would it matter to you if I was or wasn’t?! We live in two different places! The damned thing will be stuck with me all of the time! And you’ll be down with your creepy dad laughing at me and you’ll go around kicking Alice or whatever the fuck her name was! ‘Ha ha I got them both! Wooo!’ And I swear, I will rip off your dick and feed it to the damn kid!” she snapped, marching forward and jabbing her index finger into his chest. “And another thing! You don’t want kids with me? Oh you just loved your little rodents with Alyssa, but you don’t want my kid? Ugh! I should have known you were a complete jerk!” she snapped, grabbing his shoulders and pulling her knee up hard to hit him right where it hurt.
Poor Jesse was the victim of a woman gone mad and not thinking straight. It could only be the work of Ares, Danna would later assume, but for now all she cared about was destroying something. And Jesse seemed like the perfect candidate for that. She kept one hand on his shoulder and reared the other one back, aiming a very powerful blow at his face. She then hopped back and swung around, raising her leg and aiming a kick at him, too. All ninety-some odd years of training with her dad were finally about to pay off. Maybe she wasn’t fit to take on a good bit of the gods, but under the heavy training of Ares himself and knowing that Jesse could not have dedicated so much of his life to what she had been, she was sure this would be a piece of cake.

It would have been perfectly fine under other circumstances, if Danna's head had been on straight. But it certainly wasn't, and she was taking everything out on him, because not only was he simply a member of the male species, but he was the one she was blaming for knocking her up. It was his kid, it had to be, or at least Jesse hoped it was. He could never stand the thing if it belonged to someone else. No matter what, Danna promised that this would be the way things were for the next nine months. Jesse sure as hell hoped she'd wear herself out of something. He would stick by her and take care of her, do anything he could to make up for this, but if she was just trying to kill him the whole time it would make things rather hard.
"Gods, Danna, it would matter to me! What, you think I'm gonna hide in the Underworld like a little bitch?!" he demanded, holding his ground while she came up and stabbed his chest with her finger, probably too worked up to care about what he was saying. He would stand by her. He loved her, even now there was no mistaking it. He wasn't going anywhere, unless she somehow succeeded in killing him, a thought that seemed more and more probable the more this went on. He half-sighed, half-growled in frustration with himself while she accused him of not wanting her kid, which he didn't, but not for the reasons she was screaming. If he wanted kids with anyone, it was Danna, but that was just it. Jesse didn't want kids, no matter who the mother was. Danna didn't want them either, but obviously she would be fine with her own desires.
"By the gods, Danna, you have got to know that you're worth - FUCK!!" Jesse roared as her knee connected with his groin, sending his body into unbearable pain. He let himself drop to his knees when he saw her hand go back, her knuckles grazing his head as he dropped to the floor. She kicked him, and he growled as he righted himself.
"Do you know who else's fault this is?!" he demanded. "It's theirs! They're the ones who decided you'd be pregnant, and what's more, they are the only ones who can fix it!" he shouted, his voice booming throughout the whole house. Everyone on the block could probably hear them, but Jesse didn't even think about them. "I want to do whatever the hell I can for you, Danna, but for crying out loud, I can't fix this! They can!!" he bellowed, still expecting her to attack him. If she did, there was only so much he could do. She'd had way more training than he had, with Ares, no less. Maybe he was older, but if she didn't see his point soon he'd be in deep trouble.
Well, deeper.

She was a raging psycho, she was well aware. Some part of her knew that all of this was pure insanity. She was having a fit, and other than the fact that she seriously did not want children, she couldn’t explain it. She just had so much energy, so much angry energy. She was infuriated, beyond what even she would normally be. Perhaps it was the pregnancy hormones, she thought bitterly. Or maybe it was one of the gods fucking around with her. No matter what, knowing what it was or even thinking about it wasn’t helping. It didn’t make her stop being mad and it didn’t make her stop throwing things at Jesse. She needed more…She could feel the craving for more. She wanted to throw more, hit him more, scream and yell and blame him more. It wasn’t right and it was downright madness, but it was the only thing she could think about right now.
Danna laughed bitterly at Jesse’s question. “What else are you gonna do, Jesse? Huh?! I live up there and you live down there. What are you gonna do, move up to Mount Olympus? Do you want me to move down there? Are you gonna propose so we can be properly married and have our picture perfect little family? You don’t want kids, Jesse! What else would you fucking do?! If you are doing this to spite me, I know you…You’re not stupid enough to just knock me up and be all like “Uh oh, I didn’t think about having to take care of a kid!”…Just…Ugh! Don’t you sit here and get mad at me for not thinking the best of you!” she snapped. She hardly knew what to say anymore. She wasn’t making much sense, which wasn’t helping her case in the slightest. There was only one answer to all of this: more violence. It didn’t matter what other defenses he sputtered as she ran forward to attack him herself, with her own fists and feet of fury. He was on the ground and on his knees, right where he belonged…
When Jesse began snapping at her, though, she stopped to listen. Their fault? Her eyes narrowed uncertainly at him before glancing upward, towards the heavens, towards Olympus and towards the gods at fault. Hera and Artemis were both goddesses of childbirth. They were the reasons for Christian and Azrael, the reason they had ever come into being in the first place and the reason they weren’t dead now. They were the reasons for this…She knew they would never allow miscarriage or abortion, but maybe they could fix it another way. “Well? Queen Hera? Lady Artemis?” she called out, stepping back. She could hear and feel them responding to their names being called. “Can I please…My wonderful, powerful goddesses…Please, not be pregnant? Like…Could it have lied?!” she pleaded, trying to keep her voice light and kind, not accusatory or mean or bitchy. She swallowed hard and waited in silence for a moment before something came to mind.
Surely an answer from the gods…Well, goddesses.
“Do you know how rare a false positive is? Oh never mind, I’m going,” she grumbled, walking away from Jesse, easily forgetting him on the floor as she jogged back upstairs, grabbing the box and dumping the second pregnancy test into her hand. She nearly forgot these things came with two tests. She sighed and glanced upward once more and a few minutes later set the new test on the counter on one side of the sink while she propped herself up on the other side of the sink, setting the alarm on her phone for a second time and taking a deep breath, preparing for the next longest five minutes of her life. “JESSE, GET YOUR ASS UP HERE!”

How was he going to help her through this? Maybe he had never been pregnant before, but he knew it sucked. He wanted to make it as easy as he possibly could on her, even now. And after the baby was born, he wasn't splitting. He was the father, and he was responsible. At least in part, he thought, resisting the urge to send a glare skyward. Even if neither he nor Danna wanted the kid, Jesse was going to be a man and do his part in this, even if it did mean nine more months of raging fury and psychotic beatdowns, and who knew how many years after that of dealing with a little rugrat. Jesse would do it all. He loved Danna too much for it to be any other way.
"I don't know!" he shouted back at her, lifting his arm above his face out of precaution. "I don't know what we're going to do, but we're going to do something, because I don't know how you got it in your head that you're going to be in this alone, but you're not, I can promise you that," he rushed, wanting to get it all out before she could hit him again. He took a deep breath, preparing for another onslaught, but she only glared at him thoughtfully before lifting her eyes to the heavens.
She pleaded with Hera and Artemis, and Jesse did as well, just silently. Please. Please. Please. Please. He didn't know what else to say, and the word just became like a mantra in his head, chanting and begging and pleading with them to just make everything okay, just this once. The silence felt like forever, and Jesse's knuckles were white with tension by the time Danna finally spoke. Jesse's head shot up, and he watched her closely, hoping that she had gotten some sort of answer. When she left, he knew where she was going, but he didn't move.
Jesse looked around him, at the debris and wreckage that used to be Danna's lovely Manhattan home. He sighed and let his head drop, taking a breath for a moment and reveling in not being attacked or screamed at. He should get some ice for his head, and then start on cleaning all of this up. It was the least he could do, and maybe it would calm Danna down a bit.
He got painfully to his feet, stepping over this and that and who knew what else to get to the kitchen. There were ice cubes in the freezer, and Jesse just grabbed a handful and pressed them to the growing bump over his eye. Just then Danna bellowed for him, and Jesse groaned softly, too quietly for her to hear.
"I'm coming," he called back, picking his way back out of the kitchen and to the stairs, taking them two at a time. No need to keep her waiting and make her angrier. He found his way to the bathroom door and knocked twice, unsure if she wanted him inside, or just right outside the door. He almost asked her what it said, but it would probably be too soon to tell. He leaned against the doorway, ice pressed to his forehead while his fingers went numb and the melting, chilly water trickled down his arm. None of it would matter if she wasn't pregnant. They could only hope.

Jesse said he’d always be there, and he seemed to believe it…But Danna wasn’t too sure about that. Honestly, though, she wasn’t too sure what to believe. “Ares…That was not funny,” she grumbled, glaring up at Olympus where she could just imagine her father laughing. She shook her head, feeling like a complete idiot, but at the same time, it made her feel good about herself. She felt stronger…Better about herself…Pleased. She could have very well kicked his ass had he not brought her attention to the people who could help them. She had appealed to both, hoping that someone would give on one end somewhere. She wasn’t sure who would be of more help, since she didn’t know Hera or Artemis all that well. Danna sat rigid on the counter top, eyes flickering upward every now and then as she waited on Jesse to get up here. She needed something to get her mind off of the damn test…She amusingly considered that maybe waiting last time had driven her crazy, which was why she had acted out so badly against Jesse.
When Jesse arrived, she couldn’t help but giggle. He had ice pressed against his forehead, the melting water dripping down his skin. “You pansy,” she teased, glancing down at the time on her watch. She sighed…Still a few more minutes. “Blame my dad,” she explained, voice amused. She shook her head and glanced back up. “They just like fucking with me, I swear. And I don’t understand why. No one ever pays me attention for anything else. I’m pretty sure most people don’t even know I exist…But then things like this happen and I’m pretty sure it’s a conspiracy,” she said with a small laugh, shaking her head. “This is why…” she said nodding, hoping he understood and not able to blame him if he didn’t. She had their attention now, so she couldn’t exactly talk about her plan. But no…They didn’t use their powers for the better good of anyone…These days, especially, everything seemed to be done for their pure amusement. It was the kind of leader Danna aspired to be, but she’d be better at it…And it was a flaw of theirs she could work against them.
She wasn’t sure how long this had been going on, drifting into thoughtful silence after. She jumped, shocked, when the alarm went off and she slid off of the counter easily and cleared her throat, straightening her clothes before picking up the pregnancy test, flipping it over. She blinked several times and breathed a sigh of relief. One line. “Woot! Guess who’s NOT having a baby!” she cheered, bouncing happily for a moment before plopping the test into the trash can and hopping over to Jesse, throwing her arms around him. She didn’t think she had ever been more relieved or more happy in her life. Danna was sure she had felt equally as happy when Jesse confessed his feelings and whatnot, but right now, it felt like nothing could possibly get better. “Thank you, my amazing and talented goddesses,” she said, giving a grand and dramatic bow. It was somewhat sarcastic, but they seemed pleased…She at least felt that they were. She wouldn’t have to do this much longer if she had her way. She turned back around and hugged Jesse again. “Yes! Celebratory alcohol, methinks!”

She appeared to be in a more normal state... at least for now. The wildfire was gone from her eyes, and she was back to teasing him, just as if nothing had happened.
"Hmph. Pansy," he echoed, snorting, though his tone was light and he couldn't keep an amused smile off of his face. It hadn't been fun a few moments ago, but now was much better, even if his head still throbbed and the knife cut on his bicep still oozed blood. Danna did her best to explain, and more understanding dawned on Jesse. Not only was Danna her father's daughter, but if the goddesses and Ares had been messing with her... well, it explained a lot.
"Don't worry about it," he told her with a grin. Everything would be fine now. The pregnancy test would be negative - hopefully at least. He didn't know why else they would have urged her to take another one, unless it was just to mess with her some more. He hoped deeply that that wasn't the case. How long had it been since she took the thing, anyway?
The ice in his hand was rapidly becoming water, so Jesse tossed it in the sink and shook the moisture from his arm. He took a look at himself in the mirror, noticing a small-for-now lump forming beneath the little cut above his eye. The skin there was an angry purplish-blue, and Jesse sighed. He'd have a good bump there for sure, but oh well. It wouldn't last.
Just then Danna's cell phone went off, and she hurriedly shut it off before picking up the test. Jesse watched her with wide eyes, hoping, praying...
And she wasn't pregnant.
"Woohoo!" he cheered along with her, hugging her tightly as she jumped into his arms. His head throbbed, the house downstairs was a mess, and everything was perfect. His very not-pregnant Danna was in his arms. "Thank you, thank you!" he shouted to the sky, letting her go and laughing as she took a bow for the goddesses above. "Thank you," he repeated, sighing deeply. Relief flooded through him and made him feel light and strong and happy, like he could do anything. Everything was perfect.
Jesse grinned and laughed when Danna hopped back over to him, spinning them around and pressing his lips to her hair while she hugged him tightly. He grinned at her suggestion, and pulled his head back to look at her and meet her lips deeply and happily.
"Methinks you're right," he teased with a grin, kissing her again before attempting to walk awkwardly out of the bathroom and down towards the kitchen with her arms around his neck.
