Everything was peaceful. Nothing could disturb the serenity that seemed to dance around the fields of strawberries and the many flowers that sway in the soft breeze. Anyone who was looking for time for relaxation would instantly be relieved of all stress. Soft music from the satyrs seemed to make the plants themselves dance and even it was calming. The flowers of many sorts lined the gardens, full and healthy, thanks to the Nymphs who worked so hard. Obviously, they loved what they did to make them smell so sweet and look so nice that could make even the coldest heart melt. Everything was even more beautiful after the sun set and the moon casted a silvery glow upon the flower pelts.
Why anyone neglected to come and enjoy the gardens, no one knew. Now, there was a few who came, here and there couples or friends could be seen relaxing, laughing, and talking. There were even get singles sitting under a tree to read, or in a tree for a nice afternoon nap. A few children could be seen running and plays with a few of the nymphs who would hide among the plants then jump out at them. They would fall and roll around in laughter. Every now and then, you would see the others glancing their way, a smile on their faces at the innocence and youth; times when less matter and all the days were full of fun.
A soft, uncharacteristic chuckle slipped passed a young man’s lips as a child was lifted off her feet by a Nymph and spun around then set back down. The child giggled happily, before chasing after the Nymph once more. The sight made his usual stoic features to soften with a grin across his handsome face. Never did he come here, but today was a good day to. It was unusual to see him outside the Armory, much less in the gardens. Usually, he would go down to the beach and sit there for hours thinking about random stuff. Instead, he wanted a little change, so there he was. Surprisingly, he was quite enjoying himself, which shocked him a tiny bit.
Silently, Austin sat up in the tree watching them have a little careless fun, thinking about his past. Carelessness was something he never got as a child growing up in an orphanage. He had been lonely most of his life, watching as families adopted the other kids, and he being left there. Childhood friends were long gone and never heard from again. Finally, he came here… this was his home and never did he plan on leaving it. Well, unless he went on a quest or something, rarely did he get one though. He kept up with the Armory so well, many were afraid of losing his blacksmithing talents. He was at least a little grateful for those who were fans of his work, but he still didn’t have friends to call his own. The only attention he ever receive was those who wanted custom work or from his siblings.
Many would say it was depressing, to run such a lonely life on a demigod Battle camp. Nothing to live for except for the hobbies one was gifted with. AJ honestly, didn’t think much of it considering he lived most of his life by himself anyways. He noticed a few people pity him, of course he didn’t like it, but at least they cared a little for him. That was a plus, right? What bothered him more was the fact he never had a girlfriend in his life. Which meant, yes… he was a virgin. Would he ever mention that out loud? Not unless it was to someone that cared enough to hear.
Austin didn’t have any experience with girls. He knew he liked them and he wasn’t homosexual by any means. None really showed him any attention, or so he thought. Every now and then, he would spot some girls looking his way, talking, and giggling. Usually, AJ would cock and eyebrow at them and go back to whatever book he had been reading at that moment. They then would excitedly giggle more and go back to whatever they were doing. Whatever he did, must have been right. Yes, it bothered him not having any friends or has any past relationships, but not everyone’s that lucky. Then again, it probably didn’t help that he never tried either.
Trying… what would that do? He thought to himself, as he looked up between the branches toward the sky. A few clouds over passed, shading the sun temporarily before the sun came back out again before his next though. What would I say to someone anyways? Not like I have any idea what girls like… He sat up in frustration, racking his fingers through his hair. Carefully, he turned around so his back rested again the trunk of the tree, staring at the spot where he once laid. What would he say to girls? What kind of stuff did they like? He knew the Daughters of Aphrodite loved anything that was designer or in style… whatever that meant. How did he know this? Every now and then he would over hear them talking about it.
AJ let a sigh slip passed his lips, obviously annoyed by his thoughts. Maybe it was some sort of secret desire to finally have a friend for a change? Or maybe seeing everyone else with their friend and/or loved one made that loneliness come to the surface a bit more. Whatever it was, it was causing the demigod to have a horribly massive headache. ”Maybe, I’m over thinking too much. This is probably my body’s way of complaining about my ignorance.” Great, now he was talking to himself. If that didn’t attract the girls, he didn’t know what would. One minute he was lonely, now he’s just insane. AJ rested his head against the trunk, looking toward the skies. Gods… someone up there please help me. I really need a life, and I don’t care what it is…

Eden Sarah Blake loved her sister, but she couldn’t stand being cooped up inside all of the time the way Dory seemed to like. Her sister was perfectly content laying around in her pajamas all day reading some book. Dory Blake was really smart, Eden would admit. She worked hard at learning how to read English despite her dyslexia and did pretty well with it. Eden loved her for it and envied her for it sometimes, but it was too beautiful a day to be stuck inside of the cabin, no matter how good the book was. After lounging around with her for a few hours Eden got tired of it and bid her sister farewell and gave Dory a tight hug before skipping her way outside and singing “This Kiss” by Faith Hill under her breath as she played the song on her ipod. She wasn’t sure what she’d do today, but she didn’t care much. She’d let her feet take her wherever they wanted. The sky was blue and the sun was bright and happy and warm and it was a perfect day in Eden’s mind.
Weather up North wasn’t nearly so nice and comfortable as that in Louisiana, but that was the opinion of someone born and bred in the South. The winters weren’t nearly so cold and the summers were always hotter than hell and she very well loved it all. Luckily Camp Half Blood had more of the comforts of home than her new home in New York City. There were trees and grass and flowers and a creek…There was life and nature here as opposed to the treeless expanse of skyscrapers and apartment complexes and far too many buildings and far too many cars and far too many people cramped into one area. It had been her idea to move, sure, to get away from the memory of the death of her parents, to get away from Tyler dying, and to get away from the man who nearly molested her. She’d been harassed, mugged, and attacked more in New York than she ever had in Louisiana. That was why she and Dory chose to remain at Camp year round, more of the urging of Grandma Sheridan than anything.
It was gorgeous here, though. There was no need to drive, so that saved Eden some anxiety. Perhaps she had gotten over the majority of her fear of being in or around vehicles, and she was still too petrified to drive one, but just being near them still gave her the willies. With her dad and step mom being killed in a car accident when she was only five, an accident involving a drunk driver and an eighteen wheeler, it was natural for Eden to be worried about automobiles. But there was none of that here. No attacks, no nothing. There were days spent mostly outdoors and just having fun with life. She missed Ferris and Grandma Sheridan sometimes, but Camp Half Blood was her home now, and at least she had Dory with her. Perhaps the two sisters were different, everywhere from physical to personality, but they were closer than most twins and best friends some days. And as long as she had Dory, she was fine.
Her two options mainly consisted of riding pegasi or tending to the gardens, exploring the woods or hanging out near the creek. She wasn’t so much into the violence of training, be it archery or fencing or fighting or any of that nonsense. She knew she needed it, to be able to defend herself and whatnot, but she much preferred relaxing and just enjoying herself in a calm manner. She walked across the area of Camp Half Blood, thinking of all of her options and never leaning towards just one. They were all enjoyable to her, and there was a chance to do more than one that day. She’d go wherever her feet took her and the direction seemed to be towards the gardens. She smiled and took a deep breath, inhaling all of the fresh and beautiful scents of flowers and fruit. The area was largely green and brown, but unlike the forest had splashes of color from bright yellow sunflowers to vivid red apples and strawberries. She even smelled the very wonderful and familiar scent of honeysuckle. It was almost like being trapped in a bottle of perfume, but Eden loved it and never wanted to surface. She grinned happily and spun around, ending one song and starting up again with Carrie Underwood’s “Cowboy Casanova”.
She danced to herself, muttering the lyrics to the songs on her ipod under her breath. Her bright blue eyes looked around at the area eagerly and noticed right away the unfamiliar boy leaning against one tree. She smiled warmly at him and immediately headed his direction without a second thought, pulling the earphones out of her ears and stuffing them with her ipod in her pocket. “Hey, I’m Eden. I don’t think we’ve met before,” she said easily, extending her hand to the stranger. If there was one thing Eden didn’t have a problem with, it was talking to people.

Austin continued to stay deep within his thoughts. Nothing else seemed to plague his mind, even if he tried to think of something else. He groaned in annoyance as he dropped down to ground off the branch and sat at the base of the tree. He brought his right leg up, resting his arms on it, burying his face into his arms. Ugh… I really need to stop thinking so much. A headache was starting to form in the back of his skull, and that was very a good thing for him. Headaches usually lasted him for days if he didn’t get medication into his system. Unfortunately, he took his last two just last night. That was just his luck..
Finally, he lifted his head just as a girl he had never seen before stepped into the gardens. Frowning, he watched her curiously, wondering how he hadn’t met this demigod yet. AJ had been here for a while, and anyone who battled, trained, or needed any sort of weapon repair came to him or his siblings. Unless, they were the sons and daughters of Aphrodite, they weren’t required to fight as hard as the rest of the campers. They were able to blend into the outside world better than anyone else in the camp. This one though, she didn’t look like a daughter of Aphrodite, which meant, she just didn’t like the fight by nature.
Apparently, something he said must have been heard by the gods. The sight of the unfamiliar female intrigued him a bit. His dark eyes followed her as she danced around and silently sang to whatever music that was playing on her iPod. Every movement, every twirl, the flow of her long golden tresses follow her as she danced. Why was he staring so long? She was like any other girl at that camp, right? AJ wasn’t sure why he was so interested in her, but she seemed different. He would admit one thing… she was probably one of most attractive girl he had come across. She was carefree, the way he wished he could be, happy with life and enjoyed herself as much as she could.
A small smile graced his lips as he silently watched, but when she looked his way, he instantly looked away toward the ground at his feet. What AJ was surprised about, was the fact that his cheeks seemed hotter than usual. Was he blushing…? His eyes glanced up, noticing she was making her way over to him. Shit, she noticed me looking at her… Now she’s probably going to chew me out… He froze as she introduced himself, holding out her hand. For a few second, he just stared at her, dumbstruck, not knowing what to say. ”I…uhh…I’m umm..” Now he was pissed at himself that he couldn’t even talk to her. AJ cleared his throat, cautiously taking her hand. ”Austin… or AJ, whichever you prefer.” He gave her a smirk for an added detail. It seemed to work for other guys, might as well try it.
