- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - SO WHY DON'T YOU LAY RIGHT HERE LET ME JUST EASE YOUR MIND I'M GIVING YOU ALL MY TIME ! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Zeke Valmont sat alone beneath a large tree in the middle of the park. There were only a few patches of melting snow left on the ground - it had been a mild winter this year in New York. The full moon was bright, bathing everything in a beautiful, silvery glow. The stars shone and sparkled in the black sky, and a vehicle drove by every once in a while on an adjacent road. The only sounds, besides those of the passing cars, were of the few nighttime birds that still inhabited the area during the winter months. It was a gorgeous night that was entirely lost on the twenty-year-old beneath the tree.
Zeke had too much on his mind to enjoy the blissful night. About a week ago, he had met a young woman named Erato - a woman who had his full attention from the moment he noticed her. She had been waiting for her sister, so Zeke had kept her company... and had cultivated quite an attraction for her in the meantime. She was a beautiful woman, absolutely gorgeous, with dark blonde hair, sparkling eyes, a lovely figure and a voice like an angel's. Everything about her was kind and sweet, and there was a beauty about her that was both blatant and subtle. She had him at "Hello," and he hadn't stopped thinking about her since. For many guys Zeke's age, this would be a fabulous development in an otherwise humdrum life. But there was a reason that Zeke's life wasn't exactly action-packed.
Zeke was intent upon becoming a monk. He had lived a terribly immoral life before a near-death experience in a fire, and felt he owed it to the divine power that saved him to give the rest of his life in holy service. He lived in a monastery, abiding by all the rules, and had done so for over a year. It was only a matter of time before he was deemed worthy to take his vows and become an official monk. He had sworn off sex, dating, marriage, anything and everything that Erato could give him. But he was quickly finding himself unable to resist her temptations.
That sort of thing must run in her family. The night that Zeke and Erato had met, she had been waiting for her sister, Thalia, to finish up a lovemaking session with one of the monks in Zeke's monastery. Zeke had agreed to keep the secret, and soon realized why the man had made the choice that he had - if Thalia was anything like Erato, she was irresistible. Zeke hadn't intended on breaking any rules. He had fully planned on spending the rest of his life as a monk. It had started with a bit of rule-bending, just staying and chatting with Erato while the others thought he was still out shopping. There was nothing that could actually be considered wrong about it... But she had had to leave eventually, and the next thing he knew he was asking to see her again... and now here he was, having sneaked out of the monastery while everyone else was asleep to meet her in secret.
Zeke shook his head and ran a hand through his hair. At any rate, there was no turning back now. He was already here, so he might as well see her. He couldn't just leave and blow her off... she deserved to have him meet her like he said he would, even if it was just so he could apologize, explain his mistake, and gently inform her that they couldn't see each other like this...
He had a feeling, though, that the moment he saw her all intentions of breaking contact would vanish. words ### tagged for who? notes blah blah template PANIC! ITS LAUZ @ CAUTION

so i'll waste my time and i'll burn my mind ON MISS NOTHING, MISS EVERYTHING • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •Most of her sisters were busy for the night. She had heard mentions of a club that late afternoon, and while they prepared themselves for a night of fun, Erato curled up with the one Danielle Steele book she had brought with her and curled up in bed reading, claiming she had had enough excitement for one day. Thalia had spent a few minutes trying to convince her otherwise, but eventually gave up and trotted out of the room, bouncing happily towards the exit ahead of everyone else. Erato hugged and kissed her sister’s goodbye and resumed reading her book…Or pretending to read her book. She was far too anxious to be able to pay attention to much of anything in the book. She gave them a few minutes to get to the first floor and out of the door and into cabs or a bus or whatever means of transportation they were taking. Time seemed to have slowed down to a halt and wasn’t going nearly fast enough for Erato’s liking.
Tonight was far too beautiful a night to be cooped up in a hotel room reading a book or stuck inside some club getting her ass grabbed and enough drinks bought for her to put a mortal in a severe alcoholic coma. Tonight was the perfect night to go to a park…One a little away from New York City and all of its chaos and busyness. Somewhere quiet and calm and peaceful. Of course, there was much more to it than just enjoying scenery. She would, in all honesty, be meeting someone tonight. A mortal man named Zeke Valmont, a monk at some monastery, had asked her to meet him again. It had taken her quite by surprise and she had been in no condition to say no. The sexual tension between them was palpable…It had nearly suffocated her that entire time until she finally made herself break free from it. She wasn’t sure what it was, some surge of hormones blamed on her years without release or blamed upon one of the Ertoes. Maybe it was just outstanding chemistry with the monk. Whatever it was it had driven her crazy, to the points of wanting to just throw herself at him.
She had pulled away then, and what she had experienced then should have been enough for her to say no and not return to him. It was dangerous, she knew. It wasn’t as if it would actually kill either one of them, but both had made vows. After seeing all of the gods, and especially after visiting the mortals and catching Eros and Thalia together, she knew she didn’t want to give herself to anyone unless it was love. In the past few months, many gods including Anteros and Himeros, Eros’s Erote brothers, had come very close to making her break that promise. Even as close as those two had come physically, being with Zeke held an even more powerful connection, causing an even greater and more painful need. It was wrong of her to go. They would be completely alone tonight, no chance of being caught. There would be no Thalia or monks to walk out and see them together. There would be solitude…And only Zeke and Erato, at night at a park…Mentally she cursed herself, but nothing stopped her. When enough time had passed she tossed her book away and quickly checked her reflection in the mirror before flying downstairs and out of the front door.
It took about a half hour for the taxi to get her where she needed to be, and it had cost her a pretty penny, but it was well worth it. She waved to the driver as he took off before she herself turned, stomach flipping over inside of her as she gazed out at the park. Her heart was racing and she nervously wrung her hands together as she hesitantly stepped forward, slowly walking through the small parking area and into the beautiful grassy area of the quaint park. There were a couple of benches, a couple of rose bushes, a small area for flowers, a few trees, and a small creek at the other end. It wasn’t large and there was nothing overwhelming about it. She could imagine its beauty in the golden glow of daylight, beneath a bright sun and blue skies, but in the silvery glow of nightfall, it had equal beauty…Perhaps more, for what it meant tonight. Tonight would be nothing, she told herself, though she knew the truth…Even if she would never even admit it to herself, she could feel the truth deep in her heart.
She hadn’t come to talk or catch up with the monk, or to be his friend. That strong chemistry between them had driven her crazy, but at the same time she was eager to feel it again. It was a wonderful feeling only described in books, and it was the first time she had felt it for herself. It was a dazzling affect…And even deeper into it, part of her wanted things to go “wrong”. She wanted to give in, unable to stop herself…Just like in the books. It was such a shameful thing, which was why she didn’t even dare to confess it in her mind. Her brain, heart, and body all argued over the best course of action, but she kept moving, slowly and gracefully across the park towards where she saw a dark silhouette beneath a tree, becoming more clearer the closer she got. The closer she got, the more nervous she became, the more feelings that overwhelmed her body. Butterflies fluttered anxiously in her stomach, their wings beating gently against her. She swore if her heart didn’t slow down soon, it would jump right out of her chest. It was all so much, and all she had done was look at him. She licked her lips and smiled softly as she came up beside him. “Hello, Zeke,” she breathed.

It was too risky, too dangerous to meet her here like this... all alone, with no one to stop them if things went too far. He was a monk, for heaven's sake, or at least he was close to being one. He had taken a vow of celibacy. And while he hadn't exactly made these plans with the intention of having sex with Erato, it was a very real possibility that it would happen anyway.
Zeke sighed, bouncing back yet again to believing that he could handle himself. The attraction and sexual tension between them had been strong, but surely it hadn't been that strong. He had controlled himself once, so certainly he could do it again. It wasn't like he was going to jump her the moment he saw her. That would be ridiculous. No one held that kind of power.
A soft voice behind him sent a shiver down Zeke's spine, and his confidence in his self-control spiraled downward. He rose and glanced to his left, where he had heard the sound coming from, and there she was.
Erato glided gracefully toward him, a gentle smile on her face that instantly made Zeke's mouth go dry. He swallowed hard and cleared his throat so his voice wouldn't come out as an embarrassing squeak.
"Hello, Erato," he answered, a grin slowly spreading across his face. The moonlight shone beautifully upon her cheeks, bathing them in a misty glow. Her hair, too, shone in the light of the bright white orb in the sky. She looked gorgeous, as always, and he remembered that just moments ago he was convinced that no one could possibly be able to make him feel helpless with desire with just a smile and a soft hello. Erato wasn't just anyone, apparently. Zeke was consumed by an overwhelming urge to just take her and kiss her, like he had wanted to do for what felt like forever. It had only been a week, but his lips, his hands, his whole body had ached for her.
He gazed at her for a moment, his eyes shifting from one of hers to the other, and he took a tiny step forward before finally getting ahold of himself. She had agreed to meet him, yes, but that didn't mean that she was as unbearably attracted to him as he was to her. Surely she didn't come out here so he could just jump her the moment he saw her. That would be absolutely ridiculous. And he was a monk, he reminded himself. A holy, celibate monk.
"Um, shall we?" he invited, clearing his throat before smiling warmly at her. He gestured to the moonlit path, beginning to walk along it without turning his back on her. He didn't want to miss a moment of the time he had with her, to breathe the fresh air and be free. words ### tagged for who? notes blah blah template PANIC! ITS LAUZ @ CAUTION

so i'll waste my time and i'll burn my mind ON MISS NOTHING, MISS EVERYTHING • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •The moment he spoke her name, she felt as if her legs had melted into jelly. What was wrong with her?! She barely knew him. He was just a mortal. Her mind desperately grabbed at reasons as to why feeling this way was wrong, as if that would actually stop her from feeling such a way. She swallowed and bit her lip gently, looking him up and down. She just wanted to fling herself at him, kiss him madly, beg him to take her, rip off their clothes, something…anything. It was just pathetic, she told herself, but it was hard to resist the temptation it all gave her. She clasped her hands behind her back, holding her hands tightly in each other. As if that would stop her, if she was really lose to doing something. It might delay for a few moments, but what would it really stop? Of course, that was just assuming he fell for it…Maybe he had a stronger will than she was giving him credit for. For both of their sakes, she could only hope so. Perhaps he didn’t even feel what she was feeling…That thought was mildly depressing, but it offered some small amount of hope. Even that wouldn’t stop her from trying if it got bad enough…It would horribly humiliate her, though. The more she tried to calm herself down, the worse she seemed to make things.
In all of her own nervousness, it was easy to miss all of the obvious signs. The long silence, the way he looked at her, the way he swallowed, the way he stepped closer, every movement at all that would give him away. She was too caught up in her own worries for that. She only blinked at his invitation and smiled nervously as she nodded and followed him to the path. “S-sure,” she mumbled, certain that walking had to be the worst idea in the world. Her limbs felt shaky, as if she’d topple over at any moment, but luckily once she got moving, her walk was as easy and graceful as ever. While her exterior was as calm as ever, inside she was a train wreck, just considering different scenarios and trying to come up with excuses to do it, trying to give herself reasons not to, and that was only mentally. Emotionally she was far worse off. She felt dizzy and sick, like she’d faint at any moment. She didn’t understand how she was still on her feet with her emotions making her so physically weak.
There was so much she wanted to say and so much she wanted to do, but she seemed to lack the bravery…or her mind was too caught up to even function any of those things. She swallowed hard, feeling as if she’d explode at any moment. She was desperate. She knew that much. Never had she needed or craved anything so desperately in her life. Her body was screaming at her to do something, pleading with her to just end the torment. Just being near him was torment. Not being able to touch him or do any of these things was bringing physical pain. She was going to die, she was certain of it. Or her overdramatic mind was certain of it. She licked her lips and played with her hands, her fingers, shakily letting go momentarily to brush a loose strand of hair behind her ear. “It’s….um…Beautiful…” she whispered, dropping her hands down to fiddle with the hem of her white dress. She couldn’t look at him…She’d surely trip and fall then. Right into a puddle of mud, with her luck. She couldn’t even get near him…She might actually faint. Why had this been a good idea?! This was torture.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - SO WHY DON'T YOU LAY RIGHT HERE LET ME JUST EASE YOUR MIND I'M GIVING YOU ALL MY TIME ! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Zeke was becoming more and more positive that he couldn't handle this. Just being around this woman was more than he could stand... He wanted nothing more than to reach out and touch her, pull her into his arms and kiss her, to release all that tension that had been steadily building for a year and was now increasing by leaps and bounds. He could literally feel the electricity between them, even though there was still distance between their bodies. He wouldn't have been surprised to see tiny, jagged bolts of lightning and sparks flying from one of them to the other. He had never, ever felt like this before.
The pure desire and need was making him hot. He wanted to remove his coat, but that would seem weird in winter... Then again, it was above freezing. And there was nothing to say that the removal of his coat would instantly link her to his desire for her. He could feel the heat coming off of him in waves, and he pushed the garment from his shoulders, folding it loosely and draping it over his arm as they continued to walk.
Erato was slightly behind him, and Zeke turned to glance at her, captivated again by just the look of her. He couldn't tear his eyes away. She wasn't looking at him, so he was free to stare... to take in the gorgeous features of her body and her slightly down-turned face. The silence hung in the air in a way that was not unpleasant to Zeke, and he listened intently to Erato's angelic voice while she finally spoke. Her voice in and of itself was like a feathery caress, and he let himself shiver. It was winter, anyway, he could blame it on that.
"Yeah," he whispered, slowing his backwards walk a bit. "Beautiful..." he breathed, his eyes transfixed on her as he came to a full halt.
She probably would have ran straight into him if he hadn't moved. Zeke wanted to give her the chance, to let her walk into him and catch her when she fell, just as an excuse to touch her and hold her. But he knew that the moment he did that, he would lose his control... As much as he wanted her, he was not a rapist. He could never do that to Erato, even if they had only just met. He took a hasty and jerky step backwards in an effort to retain his self control, and promptly slipped on a patch of remaining ice.
Zeke yelled in surprise, his feet sliding right out from under him, coat flying up in the air as he landed in a puddle of mud that had formed from the melting snow. The puddle, thankfully, was shallow, but the splash it created was enough to ruin Zeke's clothes. He almost swore before he remembered he was a monk, and when he looked up at Erato he could do nothing but turn red from embarrassment. He wanted to die.
"Sorry," he murmured, swallowing the embarrassment and forcing himself to give a shaky chuckle. "Guess that's what happens when you don't watch where you're going, huh?" he joked, standing and retrieving his coat before looking down at his muddy clothes.
"Ugh," he said, peeling the wet and dirty fabric away from his skin. It snapped right back. "Sorry, I should go wash up," he said, shaking his head. It was a good thing there was a lake nearby. He gave Erato an apologetic smile as he turned and moved down to a few large rocks near the shore of the lake the path had led them to. He inwardly kicked himself all the way for being so stupid, pulling his shirt over his head as he walked. He was just so intelligent, so romantic.
This had been a really, really bad idea.

so i'll waste my time and i'll burn my mind ON MISS NOTHING, MISS EVERYTHING • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •It had been quite the night for Erato, the sort of night that was contained in the best of movies and novels in the most erotic and beautiful of scenes. Poor Zeke had fallen in the mud and had gone to wash his clothing in the creek, hidden behind a rock. Erato, being the pervert she was, went to the rock to spy on him, sure she’d only catch him washing clothes in his boxers or whatever. What she had seen, however, was a perfectly naked Zeke touching herself, and trying to peak at him doing that was enough to make her fall into the creek and sink under the water, trying to hide of pure embarrassment. Then Zeke apparently thought she was drowning or something and had gone down to “save” her and being in his arms and that close to him had been enough to lose any bit of self control she had had left. She kissed him and one thing led to another and the two swam to shore and she lost her precious virginity to a man who was practically a stranger in the wet grass by the creek.
That was where Erato found herself now…Perfectly naked beneath Zeke, body perfectly still but for the movements her heavy breathing created. She swallowed hard, blinking her eyes rapidly as her mind slowly sobered up. Her body felt great in one sense and horrible in another. She felt strangely alive and horribly tired at the same time, an odd feeling to really describe. For a few moments she relished in just thinking about her surroundings…How beautiful the nighttime sky was and how perfect and sore her body felt. It took a moment to register Zeke and recall all that had just happened. Her eyes widened in alarm and she gasped softly, moving her limbs into more comfortable positions, her face flushing in sudden embarrassment. She was very naked in a very much public place and he had seen her naked! As if that wasn’t the worst of it…Her mind had been so wrapped up in all of the pleasure it was slowly piecing it all together.
She had sworn off sex until she found love, true love. She only wanted to be with one person her entire life. After seeing the monogamous mortals and after catching Eros and Thalia together, she had been very determined to keep this up. But going thousands of years without sex was hard, and time didn’t make things any easier, especially being the muse of love and erotic poetry. So many had come so close lately, and she knew it was only a matter of time before she came undone. Then she had met Zeke Valmont at a monastery and the sexual tension was enough to drive someone crazy…Yet she had been stupid enough to come here with him alone. This was her own fault…This was exactly what she had wanted, on some level, and she hated herself for it. She had made a promise to herself and Zeke! Zeke had made a vow to his god…A celibacy vow! Sure, Thalia could make monks forget themselves all she wanted, but Erato had thought herself better than that.
“Zeke…” she murmured, shaking her head, eyes wide with fear and remorse. “I…I’m so…so sorry,” she said, trying hard not to cry. She easily moved herself, shifting herself out from under him and she quickly grabbed her panties and pulled them on as well as the dress, not worrying about if it was backwards or inside out or anything, so long as she was covered. “I…I really am,” she said, voice shaky before walking swiftly back down the trail. She had to get out of here, fast. Of course, she was in the middle of nowhere…Well not really no where, but it wouldn’t be as easy to locate a cab out here. She’d worry about that then and hope he didn’t try to come see her or anything. She just wanted to be alone…She was so ashamed of herself. She felt dirty and embarrassed and…She shook her head and raked her hands through her hair hard, swallowing as she tried to keep herself calm and collected.

Erato was the most beautiful woman he had met in ages, a fact that was heightened by his lifestyle which strove toe exclude women from his company altogether. It wasn't just that she was the most gorgeous creature he had seen in over a year, it was that he hadn't seen hardly any at all. That in and of itself made her all the more tantalizing. Not to mention the pure beauty of her face, her slim body that was curvaceous but not voluptuous, her flaxen hair, her soft voice... everything about her was femininity and temptation. And in the end, Zeke had gotten what his flesh desired.
But at what cost?!
Erato had told him herself that she dreamed of love... She "loved love," those were her exact words. She was into romance novels and fairy tales, and big dreams of having only one man to marry her and worship her for the rest of her life. She had told him in the middle of everything that she was a virgin, and he still hadn't stopped! Zeke had asked if she was sure, yes, and she had agreed, but how stupid had he been to believe her? It wasn't her fault; she hadn't been in her right mind, and he should have known that! But he had taken her virginity away... that treasure that was so precious for her.
And what about him? He was a monk... not officially, but that was what he was striving for, that was what God deserved of him after saving his life! Zeke was just about ready to take his vows and now - now he was back to square one. He was supposed to be a man. Was he still such an immature, high school horndog that he couldn't abstain from sex for a year to accomplish his own goals?
Zeke felt as if he was going to be sick.
Erato pulled herself away, apologizing frantically. Zeke let her go, still entranced by his frantic thoughts and not paying attention to much else. He could have heard the quiver in her voice, might have seen tears in her eyes, but all he could do was stare at the ground in shock, his labored breathing making his chest rise and fall exaggeratedly. Erato hurried away, and it suddenly occurred to Zeke that he was alone. He hadn't even said a word to her.
"Erato!" he yelled immediately, blinking himself out of his trance and yanking on his pants."Erato, wait!"
Zeke stumbled to his feet, sprinting after the young woman hurrying down the path in a backwards dress, with shaky legs and hands pressed to her face. The woman he had just deflowered like the filthy scum that he was.
"Wait," he pleaded, reaching out to grasp her hand and pull her to a stop. "I'm so sorry..." It sounded half like an apology, and half like begging. "Please believe me. I'm so... so sorry."
She would probably never want to see him again, and he didn't blame her. But even though he didn't deserve it, he hoped against hope that some small part of her might believe him.

so i'll waste my time and i'll burn my mind ON MISS NOTHING, MISS EVERYTHING • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •Part of her heard him calling her name, but as she walked on towards the road, the only thing she could pay attention to was her shame and her breaking heart. She felt so foolish, so weak. She jaw trembled and shook, but she swallowed to avoid any sobs from escaping and blinked her eyes rapidly to avoid any tears from falling. She was not going to cry about this. Crying made things feel somewhat better, and she knew she had to suffer for what she had done. She had to live with the consequences. She had known full well what would happen coming here tonight, and she had wanted it. Her body had, at least, and those damned hormones had been driving her so crazy, but she should have done better in keeping her legs closed. She wasn’t like Thalia or the other gods! At least she had prided herself in thinking so. But now what could she say about herself? Giving her virginity to a man she barley knew. A man who was a MONK! There really were no morals among gods or men, they were only fables that people liked to pretend they possessed or strived to aim for. Erato, perhaps, should have known better than to come here, but even more than that she should have known better than to think she was better than anyone else.
Erato gasped and blinked in surprise as Zeke caught up with her and grabbed her hands, forcing her to stop. Her dark gray eyes, nearly black in their heavy sadness, were trained on the ground, unable to look at him without her stomach churning in disgust. Not at him, of course, but at herself for the small flickering desire she still felt for him…and knowing what she had just done. She laughed a very shaky, bitter laugh at his words, a small tear managing to leak out of one eye, slowly sliding down her pale cheek. “Don’t be sorry…This is my fault…I should have known better…” she whispered, voice trembling and breaking even in the quietness of it. She wanted her sisters so badly. Her eight Muse sisters, the only people in the entire world she trusted, and still she was too horrified with her own actions to dare tell them either. All she wanted was to cry and have them hold her and tell her everything was alright, but she didn’t want them to know something was wrong, because she’d have to tell them and she didn’t think she could bear it.
“This is what I wanted,” she said, voice bitter and angry, all of it aimed at herself, her self loathing growing with each passing moment. “But…I didn’t, too,” she added weakly, shaking her head and sniffing, pressing her lips together hard to try to stop from crying. “I was always so judgmental about others who…and I…I always had such strong beliefs in…and I…I just…You‘re just…” she went on , jaw trembling harder the more she spoke, her mind becoming too fuzzy to really finish out any of the thoughts. She just wanted someone to hold her and it was so tempting to reach out and hug him for some small bit of comfort, but she couldn’t allow herself any relief from this. There was no telling where a damn hug would get them after all that had happened tonight. “I’m sorry…I won’t bother you again, I promise…I…I need to get back…My sisters…” she said, trailing off. She needed to get back to the hotel and pack and beg her sisters to leave home early, or at least go back on her own.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - SO WHY DON'T YOU LAY RIGHT HERE LET ME JUST EASE YOUR MIND I'M GIVING YOU ALL MY TIME ! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Zeke had never felt anything like this sorrow. He had been an awful person before, but now he was trying to turn all of that around... and still, this was easily the worst thing he had ever done. In only a few moments, he had managed to ruin his goals and dash someone else's dreams... someone, he was certain, who was the last person to deserve something like that.
Erato's bitter laugh sent a huge pang of guilt ripping through his body. A single, crystal tear glistened on her cheek, and each one of her words seemed to drop him lower. She was blaming herself... she couldn't even look at him. Erato was tearing herself apart for something that he had done... Zeke wanted to explain why it wasn't her fault, tell her how awful he used to be, just beg her to scream and yell at him, to just be angry with him about the whole thing. Anything but blame herself.
She said something about her sisters, and needing to go... it was like Zeke's voice had just disappeared. It was all he could do to beg her with his eyes, to let herself off the hook, let him try to make it better, to not leave, as good of an idea as that probably was...
Please.
But she never looked at him. Zeke felt her hands slip out of his as she hurried away to hail a cab and go... go home and never see him again. He had never meant to hurt Erato, and had never meant to grow attached to her either, had certainly never meant to take her virginity from her... But all of those things had happened. He dropped his hands to his sides, frozen in place and only watching while the cab pulled away.
