Isobel bent down beneath the table, cord in hand, and plugged it in. Overhead she could hear her chocolate fountain bubbling to life. Isobel grinned and backed out from underneath the card table on her hands and knees, careful not to come up too soon. She rose to her high-heeled feet, rubbing her palms together and smiling with satisfaction at the smoothly-flowing waterfalls of chocolate that cascaded down the fountain. She picked up the empty bowl that sat next to it on the table, swiping a bit of chocolate off of the inside and onto her finger, popping it into her mouth and humming happily at the taste. Isobel Carter was throwing a party. Her father and stepmother were out for the evening and probably wouldn't be back until tomorrow. They had taken the twins with them, too. Katie was at a friend's for the night - at twenty years old, she was hardly ever home anymore. Isobel had the house all to herself tonight, and she was going to make the most of it. The moment she had found out, she had updated her Facebook status to let everyone know her plans. It would probably be mostly a girl party, but Isobel knew a few guys who might show up. Her best friends, Melanie and Elena Emerson, would be here for sure or she was going to beat them at school next week. Christian Davek, whom Isobel had met at 13 a few weeks back, might come as well. He went to Xavier High too, and now that she knew him Isobel began to see him around the hallways. He was usually hanging out with this other guy, Nathan Wilder, whom Isobel was getting to know as well. And then there was Lucas, Elena's secret crush, whom she had also invited. The six of them had formed a sort of clique at school, sitting together at lunch and finding one another during assemblies and all of that. This would be one of the first times outside of school that they would all be hanging out together, though. Isobel had invited a few other people, too, like a sophomore named Taylor Abbot who sometimes showed up at Starbucks while Isobel was working, her twin sister Camryn, and two different sisters, Eden and Dory Blake. They might bring a few of their friends, too, Isobel wasn't sure. She didn't mind, she had made it clear that it was an open invitation. She was sure no more than twenty people could show up, and she would have plenty of time to clean up before her parents got back tomorrow. She might even be able to talk Mel and Elena into pitching in a bit. Isobel made another trip to the kitchen, bringing back some graham crackers and marshmallows for smores, along with strawberries, chunks of banana, and some pretzels that could all be dipped in the chocolate. She set down all the food and went to the garage for drinks, stepping over this and around that until she came to the little stash of six packs she had bought at the liquor store with her fake ID. It wasn't much, but it was enough to fuel a party, along with the soda and punch she was planning on serving for anyone who didn't care for beer. She hauled the six-packs back into the house and set them out, then set out the punch and a few two-liter bottles of assorted soda. Plastic cups were next, and Isobel had bought plenty, along with a big bag of ice. Once everything was out and ready she sighed in relief and glanced in the mirror, licking her ring finger and dragging it under her left eye, where her eyeliner had smudged a bit. Isobel was feeling the gold tonight, and her outfit definitely showed it. Her short-sleeved dress draped attractively over her body, showing off her curves and her long, tan legs, which looked even longer in her strappy gold heels. Gold and black bangles decorated one arm, and dangling gold earrings completed the ensemble. She had even put on a coat of some glittery gold nail polish she had found at the store, and why not? Gold looked good with her skin tone and hair color, and it was one of her favorite colors to wear. Isobel ran a hand gently through her dark curls, fluffing them a bit and getting them to sit just right, just in time for the doorbell to ring. "Coming!" she called out, half-jogging to the door. It was time to get this party started. tagged. errbuddy! outfit. click.words. 766 credits. carolyn's sweet blasphemy *
