It was a lazy afternoon and Vienna had once again left the company of her friends for a few moments of solitude and peace. It was quite fair, she justified since she had dedicated the majority of her morning to the stables and archery practice as well. After lunch, she had left before her siblings could rope her into an afternoon of sing-alongs. She would never admit it, but sometimes, it was good to actually rest her voice. It was already hoarse from all the screaming and shouting from earlier today. Some of her younger siblings had wanted to take the reins during a friendly race. Vienne didn't know who was more terrified - her or the poor pegasi? It was all in good fun - well, unless someone broke their spine. But they were all heroes-in-training. Fear was a word unknown to the likes of them.
Nevertheless, after lunch, Vienna had made a detour to the arts and crafts area before making herself comfortable in the fields. It was tranquil here, with only the occasional songs of the birds around her to disturb the silence. Once in a while, a light breeze would come by. It was because of the winds, that she had decided to make something that would fly in the breeze. Her father was Apollo, and was the god of many things, one of those things would be the arts. And after his rather infamous sojourn into Japan (where he took up haiku), Vienna had also taken up with another Japanese art form. Origami.
Fold after fold, Vienna lost her mind to the routine work. And slowly, a flock of cranes had appeared on her lap. For every ten, she used a needle and thread to string them together in a chain. It would be too easy for the wind to pick up a few of her pieces if she didn't. She had heard from a mortal friend that if someone made a thousand cranes, he or she would have a wish granted by a crane. It made to be a very popular gift, but today, these cranes are for herself. She didn't have a wish, but even then, she would rather work for whatever she wanted or make an offering to the gods for some sign. Nevertheless, the brightly coloured birds would brighten up the already cheery Apollo cabin.
The sun was making its daily route across the sky and by the time Vienna was roused from her work, she was pretty sure an hour or so had already passed. All around her were cranes and pieces of paper. She had misplaced her needle and hopefully, she wouldn't do something so stupid as to actually step on it. That would be an unfortunate way to find it again. Carefully, she set her papers and cranes aside by the base of the tree she had been leaning against and shuffled around, looking for her stupid needle. She even focused a few beams of sunlight, hoping that the needle would reflect off the light. What a way to use her powers, but it was helpful. She didn't find it. However, she did catch the sounds of someone approaching. She turned just in time to see the 'intruder' and paused. "Hey, what's up?"
