we were young we were restless, - - - WERE JUST TWO CLUELESS KIDS* Theodora Jennifer Blake did not want to wake up today. If she had her way, she’d sleep through the entire twenty four hours unbothered and not plagued by any nightmares or memories or pain or anything bad at all. She spent all the previous day, praying and praying to Hypnos, the god of sleep, and Morpheus, the god of dreams, to give her good, happy dreams and to let her sleep long and peacefully on through until the day was over and a new, better day could begin. Dory put a lot of hope into them, a lot of faith that she couldn’t let go of. Normally she was a pessimistic person, but she had taken on the usual bright optimism of her sister Eden and throwing all of her belief into the two gods. She figured it might work if she actually trusted in it all. Some worry still did plague her, but she tuned it out the best she could and focused on better, more positive thoughts. And when she laid her head down on her pillow that night, she said one last prayer and fell easily into sleep.
Hypnos and Morpheus, however, did not seem to have heard her prayers, or they just didn’t care. Dory woke up with a sharp gasp, shooting up in bed, clutching at her heart. Her blue-hazel eyes flew around the room, seeing nothing as she began blinking rapidly, trying to clear her sight and her head. That was not the dream she asked for…Dreaming of the car accident. She could see the big eighteen wheeler in her head and a manic driver aiming right towards the car Bradley and Natalie had been driving. She saw the vehicles collide and the small car was crushed beyond imagination. The truck driver just kept laughing as blood poured down his face. She had been screaming…And so were Eden, Ferris, and Grandma Sheridan. Eden and Dory both ran towards the car, crying and begging them to still be alive. As they had neared the car, though, the driver started up his truck again, successfully driving over the car and headed straight towards the sisters…
Once the general shock wore off, Dory’s face crumpled and her hands flew up to her face as tears streamed out of her eyes. Her body shook painfully in the force of her sobs that she tried to keep quiet as to not alert anyone. All of Cabin 21 were still sleeping it seemed and Dory whimpered quietly, doing her best to hold it all in. She felt scared and panicked and heart broken all over again, and it physically hurt to not have that release her body was begging her for. Shaking her head, tears still pouring and blurring her vision, she reached out a trembling hand to grasp the clock beside her. 2:47 A.M. The date was…Well Hypnos hadn’t granted her wish of sleeping all through the day. In fact, he had woken her up in time to enjoy a good majority of the miserable day. Her quiet sobs sounded so loud in the otherwise silent cabin, the only sound puncturing it being her own whimpering and soft snores from one of her cabin mates now and then.
Dory quickly reached up and wiped the tears out of her eyes and cleared her throat. She threw her legs over the side of the bed and slipped her feet into her slippers and her arms into her robe and stood up, tiptoeing out of the cabin quietly. It was cold outside…Too cold to be in nothing but pajamas and a robe, but Dory didn’t care much about that. She wrapped her arms tightly around herself, hoping it would keep her from falling apart. Her face broke again, more tears falling from her eyes and she began walking. She couldn’t cry here, around all of the other cabins. What if someone was awake or she woke someone up? She didn’t want people to ask questions. She didn’t want to have to explain that it was the anniversary of her father’s death. She didn’t want to talk about it and she sure as hell didn’t want to talk to people she barely knew. She sniffed and bit the inside of her cheeks, trying her hardest to hold it all in. She moved swiftly through the cabins and past everything and back towards the creek. She wasn’t sure why she came here…It was a beautiful place and she had no where else to go, she figured. Near the water she plopped down onto the ground and let loose.
Pulling her knees up to her chest, she cried. She hugged her legs and just sobbed as hard as she could, more tears coming and falling, dripping onto her neck and chest and her hands. The wind blowing against her skin made her feel freezing, but that didn’t matter. The only thing that mattered was that her wonderful father was gone. Her beautiful, maternal Natalie was gone. Two innocent, amazing people were gone. All of Grandma Sheridan’s talk about them being in Heaven or camper talk of them going to Elysium didn’t matter. She didn’t care where they were now, only that they weren’t here. Her daddy had missed eleven birthdays. He has missed school plays, good grades, club events. He hadn’t been there to give her the sex talk or to help her with homework. He wasn’t here now, when life was turning all sorts of crazy. Her own mother didn’t want her, and the two people who did love and care about her were dead.
“I…HATE…you!” she shouted, glaring up at the sky. “Whoever you are…I hate you,” she hissed towards her unknown mother. She then glared down at the ground and stomped hard on it. “And I hate you,” she growled, directing her anger now towards Hades. Her anger broke almost as soon as it came and she dissolved into another fit of tears and sobs, digging her fingers into her hair and pulling gently, banging her head into her knees.

●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●● At two in the morning, the worlds a rather quite place. That was something that Eden could certainly agree to. However, silent or not, she was far too caught up in her thoughts to worry about anything else. The night before going to bed, she had prayed..to nearly ever god that she could think of. That for once, just one night, she could go without being haunted by the nightmares. It seemed the gods never listened, or she didn 't matter enough for them to care. Either way, her prays were never answers. That didn't make her give up. Night...after night, she continued to pray. Last night, she wished even longer and harder than ever before.
In a way, depending on how you looked at it, the Gods had in fact answered her prayers. All she hassle asked for was to get through the night without any nightmares. So far, she hadn't had one...but the explination for that was all too obvious. You can't dream if you can't sleep, and Eden Blake had been up all night. Not by choice, might I add. No she had tried many times turning her body from one side to the other. She tried to fall asleep time and time again, but nothing was wiring, no matter what she did.
She wasn't asleep, but this was so much worse. Being as awake as she was, whenever she closed her eyes, she saw the very images that made her pray in the first place. Minutes passed..and minutes slowly turned into hours, and the closer it got to midnight...the worse she had felt. Until finally it midnight...and then, she knew sleep would be impossible. There was many nights where she found herself lying awake, but today it was different...it was the anniversary of the day that changed their lvies, her and Dory's, forever.
She was only five at the time, but even eleven years later...it felt like the accident only happened just a few days ago. It is rather difficult to forget something you can't keep your mind off of. She felt her eyes sting, causing her to blink rapidly I'n response. So far she had done a rather good job of keeping everything in, she couldn't let herself fall apart now. No matter how much she wanted to. Her body ached, from what seemed the amount of pain inside of her..so much just wanting to get out. It was okay to mourn someone, but crying wouldn't bring them back...nothing would.
Times like these, being truly alone to deal with her thoughts. She tended to focus on so many negative things, the things that she couldn't share with anyone else. The death of her parents for one thing. Well her Father and Natalie, though Batalie was more of a Mother to Eden than her own Mother had ever been. There wasn't a moment that passed by for which she didn't miss them. They passed away when she was only a little girl, but on normal days she still tried to focus on the good things, on the positive memories she did have of them.
The sound of a startled gasp ripped through the silence like a jagged knife. She didn't need to look to see it was that was suddenly ripped from their sleep and back into reality. It'd be just too mich of a coincidence for anyone other than the Blaje sisters to be plagued by nightmares on that. Her heart ached, yearning with the need and desire to go to Dory..to comfort her and in turn be comforted herself by the presence of her sister. She bit her lip rather hard, hard enough for it to bleed, but it was all for the sake of keeping herself quite.
As she listed to her sister son, she could no longer hold back her own tears. Luckily enough for her, she managed to keep herself quite. As far as Dory would know, no one in the cabin was awake or had been awoken because of her. She kept her gaze lowered, but she saw nothing, far too focused on her other senses. How she was currently facing in her own bed, her back was to Dory and oh how badly she wanted to roll over. But that would sort of kill the whole, ' being askeep' illusion. Though right now it was truly hard to even act like she cared about anything else.
There was movement..someone getting out of bed, and then moving across the room..before walking out the door. The movements were so subtle and quite, she wouldn't have noticed it if she hadn't already been awake. The moment Dory got up, she knew that she needed to get up as well. They needed each other, more on this day than any other. She rolled over, shifting her weight and pushing the covered off her body before getting out of her own bed. Wearing nothing but a nightgown, that certainly wouldn't be enough for outside.
After being awake this whole time, her eyes had long ago..in the dark it was still a bit difficult, but she managed to find a jacket to throw on before finding her shoes as well and leaving the cabin. Of course, taking as long as she had...there was no telling where her sister was at that point. But that didn't matter either way, it wasn't like she'd stop, not until she found her at least. In reality, she was lucky that she knew Dory... Well that..and it was hard to not hear her sister yelling.. And so she followed her voice. Ignoring how cold she was and how miserable it was out her.
She simply folded her arms across her chest and kept moving forward and it was just a few minutes later that she finally found her. What she saw honestly could have broken her heart all over again. She swallowed, quickly shaking her head to yank herself from her thoughts as she stepped closer to her sister. "Dory..." Her voice was quite, trying to conceal the pain and concern in her voice. She dropped to her knees in front of her sister. Reaching her hands out, she firmly grasped her shoulders to try and get her to stop hurting herself in such a way. "Dory..stop..." She pleaded, her voice just as quite as before. Her tear filled eyes were only locked upon Dory...she was hurting but only know she was seeing just how badly. She wanted to promise her it'd be okay, that everything would be fine, but she couldn't quite get those words to come out...and she hated herself for that...
