ABOUTME: Brad is a fun guy, someone who loves to laugh and to make others laugh. He loves his friends more than anything, and one of his great passions and talents is dancing, which he’s very good at. He collects hats, which is sort of an odd hobby. Most of them are everyday caps that he can wear anywhere, but a few are a bit strange – such as his white top hat and his plumed pirate’s hat. In any case, you almost always see him in a hat. Brad also adores Harry Potter – he can tell you anything you want to know about the series. He does have a few flaws, mainly procrastination and just the tendency to avoid unpleasant situations, which is why he doesn’t really like to talk about his fight with cancer. But he’s a good friend and a fun person to be around, which is why he makes friends pretty easily and brings life to the lives of those around him.

FATHER: Michael Belgard – When Brad was young, he adored his father and looked up to him very much. But when things got tough, Michael divorced his mother. Brad and his brothers still see their father on the weekends, and Brad still loves him, but has lost a good deal of respect for him.

Andrew Belgard – Brad’s older brother who is nineteen years old and on the verge of moving out. Brad is good friends with Andrew.
Charles Belgard – Brad’s nine-year-old brother who thinks Brad and Andrew are just the coolest people on Earth. He can get a little bit irritating, but Brad doesn’t mind as much now that Charlie is getting older and therefore less annoying.

GOODMEMORY: The Make-A-Wish foundation granted Brad a wish because of his illness, and Brad chose to go to Comic-Con. It was so awesome seeing all of the famous writers and producers and actors, and seeing everyone dressed up as different characters. It was an awesome experience that Brad won’t ever forget.
BADMEMORY: The night that Brad’s parents sat the boys down and explained that they were separating. Brad had been diagnosed with leukemia one year prior to this announcement, and blamed himself for the extra stress that his illness put on his parents’ marriage.
HISTORY: Brad was born to Michael and Olivia Belgard in 1995. They were proud to have a second son, and though the two parents fought every now and again, life went smoothly until Brad was about seven.

When Brad was seven, Olivia discovered that she would be having another child. She was overjoyed, but Michael was less happy. He had always wanted two children and didn’t know if he could handle or afford a third. His apprehension may have been understandable, but it didn’t go over well with Olivia, and only served to deepen the growing rift between them. Worse than that, though, was that Brad had been sick for a while. He kept getting sick and getting a bit better only to get sick again. It seemed he was never healthy. He also began accumulating a large amount of bruises, some in odd places, and when he cut himself it was difficult to stop the flow of blood. He was finally diagnosed with leukemia, and sent to the hospital for treatment.

Brad’s leukemia put a lot of stress on the family, not to mention the fact that Olivia was due to have Charlie in a few months. Brad’s parents tried to hide their fighting from their children, but it was obvious that something was wrong. Things had gotten much worse since Brad was diagnosed, and seeing him through treatment was almost as hard on everyone else as it was on him. When Brad was eight, about a year after Charlie was born, his parents announced that they were separating. Brad’s father moved out, and his mother did her best to carry on and be strong for her children. Brad began to wonder if it was his fault his parents had gotten divorced.

Brad loved to read, and his book collection grew significantly while he was in the hospital. He became practically obsessed with Harry Potter, and he read all of the books and watched every movie as it came out. His books got him through his stay in the hospital, and finally, when Brad was ten, he was released from the hospital.

Brad had kept up with his schooling as best he could, but he did have to repeat the fourth grade after he got out of the hospital. He wanted to play sports with the other boys, but Olivia wouldn’t let him for fear that he might get hurt – she didn’t want him to get cut or scraped and be unable to stop bleeding. Brad loved music, though, and took up hip-hop dancing. That was to become his “sport,” and he got very good at it.

When Brad was old enough to go to high school, he was admitted to Xavier High and met Gabrielle Evans. She and her little group of friends are the best people Brad could hope to know, and he adores them all. None of them know about his battle with cancer, and none of them know about the possibility that it could come back – as far as Brad is concerned, it’s in the past.
